  1. Honestly, if I’ve asked for a taste of something and I don’t like it, chances are I’ll probably buy a pint of it anyway because I’d feel awkward asking for something else.

@Slapnutwill have to correct me if I'm wrong but.... Christ, that goes without saying, surely?

Look, I haven’t tasted Carling since I was about 18, alright? It might be nicer now.

I might ask for a taste of the most bog standard lager my local offers tonight now just to see the reaction.

  2. Glad to hear I’ve not been doing pubs wrong this entire time! I must have stumbled upon a particularly irritable section of Twitter.

It has, however, reminded me of a work’s Christmas party a few years ago where a colleague drank one of those mason jars of beer they keep out to show the colour because he thought it was a sample. I dread to think how long it’d been sat out for.

  3. I’m currently in a debate with a few folk on Twitter and I’d like to get the general consensus here - asking for a sample of a beer before buying a pint, acceptable or not?

Quite honestly, I’ve never ever been in a pub who aren’t happy to give you a sample so I’ve always assumed this was very common practice, but I’m in the minority by far in this Twitter thread with the vast majority sayings it’s completely unacceptable and you should just buy something and accept the consequences if you don’t like it.

  4. This popped up on Twitter earlier, the crossover I never knew I needed:

Just an absolutely wonderful actor who stole virtually every scene he was in as Paulie. Pine Barrens is an obvious highlight, but him hanging up the painting of Tony in his living room is probably my favourite Paulie moment.

It's pretty obvious that certain people on this thread have never been hugged before

Yeah I can’t help but feel like some of the reactions are a little over the top-

I wasn't saying that in a perjorative way. I just hadn't realised how short he is.

Yeah fair play. Body types have been such a big talking point recently and I would be surprised if anybody thought he didn’t look the part, regardless of his height.

    Also: Gresham is tiny.

He’s also built like a fucking tank and, from the admittedly very few times I’ve seen him, wrestles in a way that makes sense for somebody of his stature.

Loads of wrestlers are under 6ft these days. Daniel Cormier is also a short arse and he beat most heavyweights he faced in real fights.

  8. I don’t think anybody is questioning why they’re doing this match again from a business perspective, but more just…fuck me, again??

It’s dull. It’s basically Cena vs Orton circa 2009.

Ooh that means it should be on Sky “Say it into the remote control thingy” or whatever that’s called. Excellent, thanks chaps!

I can confirm it is, I’ve just finished the series 3 finale on there last night. Immense show, my favourite in years. Series 3 has absolutely flown by.

The issue is that cackling, dressing like a twat and being annoying alone isn't a character. It's as lazy as it gets and it's absolute shite.

I guess this is the issue I don’t fully understand. Is this any different to 90% of wrestlers in WWE? I don’t see how this is really any different to “man who comes to the ring with a sword and counts to three”, “man who is is almighty”, or “woman who likes Eddie Guerrero”. To me, his character doesn’t necessarily have any less depth than any of those. I know he’s not the most popular on here, but he seems to cop a lot of flack for somebody whose character is pretty much on par with the majority of the roster. It’s very on brand for WWE.

I don’t particularly enjoy it either mind, please don’t think my tastes are that bad!

@BomberPatI completely agree with your response on the last page, but I don’t think he’s unique in that regard, I could name a handful of WWE wrestlers I’d apply that to.

He's just a twat dressed up like a twat cackling like a twat who wrestles exactly the same as he always has.

I honestly don’t see the issue with this. Rollins the character has always been a cackling twat, now he’s a cackling twat who wears ridiculous suits and cackles even more obnoxiously. I personally don’t think any further meaning is necessary, even if he wants us to think of the Joker while he’s doing it.

It’s very irritating, but he’s a heel, it’s supposed to be.

  12. Anybody familiar with Frenzal Rhomb? They’re Australian and I’m not sure how well known they are outside of the country, but they appear to have been around for almost as long as I’ve been alive and they’ve toured with the likes of NOFX, Blink 182 and the Offspring.

I came across their album Hi Vis High Tea ( @jazzygeofferz might want a listen) a few years ago and I just love it. It’s 35 minutes long which is a lovely length, and every track is a treat.

It’s no All Killer No Filler but it’s a good one.

Update from Big E. If he isn’t the biggest babyface whenever he gets back then there’s no hope for this company

Guaranteed he’ll turn heel and cut a “you people” promo because they didn’t care about him when he broke his neck.

Name a better TV episode than ronny/lily from Barry. You can't! Honestly never seen anything quite like it before in my life. Can't wait for Bill Hader to start directing action films.

I thought I was on speed watching that episode, I couldn’t take my eyes off it. Loved every second.
