  1. What's frustrating about this whole debacle is that both sides are clearly carrying out horrendous violence on civilians. The civilian casualties in Palestine are of an abominal number. I've been listening to the Israel defence, against the charges bought by South Africa, this afternoon/evening. It's long! It's a litany of protest. We aren't carrying out a Genocide. You must believe us. South Africa are mistaken.

They seem to think we are blind and stupid.

The escalating idiocy of action in the Middle East is worrying and isn't being examined honestly. There are too many agendas at play for real clarity.

Israel have been popping off with at least 3 of the surrounding countries. Killing people in Palestine hasn't been the extent of Israeli action. What Hamas did, and if the Israel defence  is accurate, are still doing. Is completely reprehensible. They aren't any better than Israel.

    What a horrible horrible mess.

  2. That's a good question. Unfortunately only time will tell. They've already been using the term self defence in relation to the actions of yesterday. The last time that was used. We witnessed Israeli action that has resulted in very strong accusations of Genocide.

Maybe this action will help the people of Yemen.

What's your alternative solution @BigJag?  This is precisely the sort of thing we have a navy for.  The Houthi rebels don't have any reason to attack shipping through the Red Sea.  They've got their hands full with being shat on by Saudi, you would imagine.  This is, as you say, a proxy move by Iran and as such I think a strong response is valid.

The Houthis are in their own way opposing the Israeli action in Palestine. Israel who are being supported by the majority of the West. If all the UK and US are doing is protecting the trade routes. Then more power to them. Can we honestly say that that is what they are doing?

There needs to be much more examination of what Israel and it's allies are up to. At the same time the actions of the countries of the region are not covering themselves in glory.

A bit like a tax haven?

It seems that the idea of Freeport's has been tried before. Local Enterprise Partnership was the name. An idea pushed in 2011 and in the 80s.

The assessment of the Enterprise Zones in the 80's ALSO found that 80% of the jobs "created" were actually taken from other places.

Will the new designation of "Freeport's" change the findings of a future assessment. Or is this another attempt at something that doesn't necessarily work? Certainly not for those at the bottom of the rung.

Will Freeport's  create migration of workforce?

It's something I'm trying to learn more about.

Gove was questioned about some dodgy dealings in the Teeside Freeport. The Tees Valley Mayor has used is political advantage to buy up land within the Freeport. For a bargain of £1. He'll be getting a massive return on that. Ben Houchen, the Mayor, is highly respected by Gove.

The Richmond Odeon at the top of the hill was an absolutely beautiful regal building with a massive pit in front and ornamental decor.

Pretty much my only Cinema going experience until I was around 13. Kingston was just as wonderful, with a really unique lobby/foyer and the building still stands today as Pryzm.

Edit: good thread idea, someone move it cba.

That looks amazing. You must look forward to going there.

  6. CES is happening this week. Sadly there's no accompanying E3. Samsung have been showing of some cool looking transparent displays. Along with anti-glare tech for their OLED TVs.

    LG has a transparent TV

The event looks to be a lot smaller and seems to have been set up in a large hotel. Rather than a massive exhibition hall.

  7. It's really bizarre looking back at his tenure. He was largely regarded as an absolute nutcase. However as @Keith Houchen has said. He did improve relations with Russia,North Korea, and I think the Middle East. All of that has seemingly been reversed under Biden.

We can't give Trump a clean slate though. There's still the madness of his Mexico policy. Did the wall get built? Has the porous border been under better control with the current administration?I s America a happier place? What's happening with his court case?

  8. How much of an impact will the youth vote have in America. The Biden administration seems to have played that element completely wrong. There's very strong opposition to the Ukrainian/Israel situation and Biden was barracked at a recent public appearance. Could these situations damage the Democrat campaign.

I've seen a bit of news about the Republican candidates. With the Likes of Nikki Hayley and Vivek Ramaswamy being Republican candidates. Will the Democrats also have a selection process? Or will their campaign be spearheaded by Biden?

  9. Just come across these. Somebody has produced a Shattered Glass version of TFTM. Could be interesting.

    Primes a baddie!

They've made a pretty strong effort at recolouring and adding new voices and dialogue. Shockwave sounds spot on. I'm not quite sure how they've done that.

  10. India has many shameful episodes to atone for and as horrible as it is. This is but a small one. I doubt the manipulative self serving scumbags will ever have the requisite shame. The Wrestlers have shown incredible poise and fortitude throughout all this. They've stood for what's right. In a similar way to the earlier Farmer protests. This is in stark contrast to the Indian Cricketers who are firmly in the pocket of the Indian government.

In India. It is those that make the sacrifice that suffer. You only really succeed if you toe the line.

  11. Really good interview with one of the main protestors in the Indian Wrestling #metoo movement.

The interview is conducted in Hindi. The main points are that the protesters had put their faith in the Government for a just resolution. That should have resulted in an overhaul of the existing corrupt organisation of the WFI (Wrestling Federation of India).

Brij Busham and his cronies still have control of the WFI.

The protesters have lost all faith in the WFI and the Government.

They had hoped to stand up for those that don't have the platform available to these prominent athletes.

They will continue to help train aspiring wrestlers. However they regret not being able to bring an effective change in the WFI structure.

All the protesters and their associates have suffered trolling and intimidation from the power base of the WFI and their political associates.

It's sad to see that despite their efforts. This attempt to protect the most vulnerable hasn't achieved the desired result. However, it has raised awareness. The hope is that the previous years agitation will create a platform for forward progression. That ultimately protects the most vulnerable.
