Hello, I'm so sorry do a self-promotional post but as some of you might be vaguely aware. I've tread the boards for a few years as a stand-up. I'm doing my first solo show at the Leicester Comedy Festival on Saturday February 17. I know absolutely nobody in Leicester but if anyone reading this does and could gently make them aware of this, I would be extremely grateful. Tickets are £5 and there's an outside chance some fucking lunatic is actually going to purchase one. I don't have PR and I'm appallingly self conscious about posting my comedy stuff round here. Thanks for reading, just popping out to stop having a panic attack posting this ha.

Hi. I'll try and get a few bods together and attend this. very surprised that it's being held at the East St Lanes venue. It's a bowling alley. i can see the benefits. Good luck with the show.

Leicester comedy Festival has been going a few years now. I've checked out a few shows in the past. They spread the acts all over the city centre and you often find that a set pops up in the most unlikely of venues. The last one I attended was in a small meeting room as the support to a street food festival. food was good. Comedy wasn't bad.

Hi. Does anyone know much about this promotion and their upcoming show on February 17th?

Current WSM Mitch Hooper, Eddie Hall, Brian Shaw and Martyn Ford. Are all supposed to be on the card.

They'll be fighting in a 4 man elimination format. Under MMA rules

    Hooper Vs Hall

    Shaw Vs Ford

The winners face each other on the same night.

Hooper, Hall, and Shaw all have YouTube videos up of them hyping and preparing for the event.

  3. Thanks for the clarification. From what I understand. There will be another round of voting by the Lord's, on the ratifying. Ostensibly to allow more Lord's members a chance to cast their vote. Largely due to not all Lord's members being present for the first round of voting. Once this process is completed. Is it at that point that a HOC vote will take place?

  4. My memory of Virtua Racing is playing it in a huge sit down motion cabinet. Which was an incredible experience. I can't help but think that even a quality conversion. Will be a disappointment on a handheld device.

@jazzygeofferz what does the home version offer over the arcade game?

  5. I keep reading and hearing about various Western governments stating that the current 3 month long Israeli action. Cannot be classed as Genocide. Now I know that the South African prosecution is still under review. It is also a very complex charge and will be very difficult to prove.

However, is the stance of the Western governments. Essentially an attempt at bluffing those that they have sway over?

Families of the Israeli hostages disrupted a low level government meeting today (22/1/24). They forced there way into the closed door finance meeting. Usually this type of protest would have been dealt with harshly by the authorities. On this occasion the security seemed to take a low key approach to quelling the protestors. The families loudly called for the return of their family members. Currently held hostage by HAMAS. The general message was that the Hostages should not be forgotten about.

What the fuck is this cunt saying?

  6. Rocket League. Cars playing football. That's fun. Sort of Speedball but with RC type cars.

There's a Twitter account called This is Football Gaming. It's content is PES and FIFA heavy. They do regularly highlight some more obscure football titles.

  7. Race for Glory-Audi Vs Lancia

They set out to tell the story of Audi and Lancias rivalry over the 1983 World Rally Championship. This was at a time when Rally cars were at their peak. The Group B era allowed manufacturers to produce cars of incredible ability. Audi had their Quattro (4 wheel drive). Lancia took them on with a 2 wheel drive car. The Lancia overall was considered the lesser car of the two. However, Lancia were able to get probably the greatest driver of all time into their car, Walter Rohrl. This period of Rallying had immense talent in virtually all areas. Drivers, Engineers, and team principles.

The film has been produced by Rally fans and stars Daniel Bruhl as the head of Audi Rally. Riccardo Scamarcio is the head of the Lancia team. The story of the film seems to be told from Riccardo Scamarcio characters perspective.

They barely even mention Michelle Mouton. Who at the time was driving for Audi and unfortunately never quite managed to take the drivers title. She came second in the 1982 Championship.

Watching the film I found it really strange that they seemed to completely fabricate certain stories. That had some grounding in history. Yet they changed a number of details to force then into this film. There's a big crash depicted at one point. Which is based on a crash that happened a couple of years later. Fairly important and long portions of the film are spoken in French or Italian. For some strange reason my version didn't have subtitles for those sections. Which spoils the flow of the film.

It's filmed well. The cars a presented well as are the locations. Ultimately it left me unsatisfied. Ford Vs Ferrari is a much better film, that does a decent job of telling that story.

There's a great documentary that covers the Group B Era.

Definitely worth tracking down. It's better than Race for Glory.

  8. Great discussion going on. I wish i had the nous to actively participate. Unfortunately use of words like "reductionist" and "depredations" make my head spin. Some very salient points have been raised. Which have gone a fair way to helping making a little more sense of what is happening at the moment.

Sadly the horror continues. There's reports coming out of a terrorist attack in Israel today. Small in scale. People have been killed.

There are also reports of the US transporting more troops and armaments to the area. Unsure of what their intentions are.

  9. The killing has to stop. I think we can all agree on that. Unfortunately there are too many idiots involved in the decision making for that to happen. Absolute despots on both sides. Peace agreements have been brokered before. Only to be scuppered by one element or another. Both sides seem intent on destroying eachother and themselves.

  10. Unfortunately for Israel. The optics are that they are going way too far with their actions. It's not clear to anyone what they are planning to achieve. They keep shouting out that they are fighting Hamas. Yet we keep seeing civilian casualties. We keep hearing reprehensible rehetoric from Israeli hierarchy. A lot of what Israel is doing in other areas of the middle east is being masked by the current focus.

Israel are allowing their enemy to be seen as the underdog. Not as an organisation that carried out atrocious acts in some bizarre attempt at revenge/instigation.

Nobody will win. Only innocents will suffer.
