  1. Not a fan of Raven shoots? He's one of few guys i could listen to in interviews allday.

I recently watched the Samoa Joe/CM Punk shoot, which is really good. They talk about there 3 matches in ROH, general wrestling, how Foley tried to get them signed in WWE and they have some good stories aswell.

  2. This is good to see about Killing Me Softly. I'm going to see it tomorrow night.

Also, has anyone heard about / tried the Cineworld Unlimited card exploit? I've heard that it can be used in conjunction with the Orange Wednesday offer, meaning someone with an Unlimited Card who is also on Orange can get a friend in for free. Going to try it tomorrow so I'll let you know if it works.

When i worked at Cineworld (3 years ago now) you could do this. No-one seemed to realise though.

  3. I had a quick look on youtube and listened to Dead Behind the Eyes. I thought it was decent but they don't sound any better than a whole lot of other bands playing similar stuff.

As i say, i liked it, will give the album a listen though.

  4. What's the story behind that match then?

I think it was something about Davey Richards telling Zebra Kid he'd call the match as he had been wrestling 5 (im not sure on the number) years and was therefore the veteran and would lead Zebra through the match. Also making it clear he wasn't happy wrestling someone who was on weekend release from prison.

  5. I think I remember you mentioning that before. If im not mistaken, that would been Magic Circle Festival.

In non-Manowar related news, Classic Rock are putting a fanpack of the new Rush - Clockwork Angels album on June 11th.

Not sure if its been mentioned yet either, but the new Gojira album will be released on June 25th via Roadrunner

I read a track by track review of the Gojira album. It unsurprisingly said it was great. Compared a couple of tracks to Mastodon.

  6. I think i wrote about it in this thread. But i went to Metal Camp a couple of years ago, and at the same area the day after was like a Manowar festival. So they had a Manowar tent on the campsite. As it was really hot and the tent meant shade, me and a friend went in there to drink. And i have to say the Manowar fans were all so nice. They varied from kids to really old people. They're all 'geeks' and massive, dedicated Manowar fans. The tent had lots of things going on including i think Lord of the Rings and other similar things, quizzes.

I'm not a fan at all and the image just makes me laugh. But i now have at least a soft spot for their fans!

  7. I'm currently enjoying the new Lostprophets album. It's the most 'commercial rock' album they've done but it's great. Every review i've read has said it's a grower and i totally agree. And at risk of being slated even more, i love the latest Enter Shikari album.

Not sure it's anymore commercial than "Start Something", but it's still a good wee album. I think the Enter Shikari album overdoes it on the dubstep at times.

I think it's there first album with no real 'metal' sounding songs or moments. Start Something had, off the top of my head, at least the title track and We Are Godzilla... which are much heavier sounding than anything off Weapons. But anyway, yeah i think it might be up there with my favourite Lostprophets album.

  8. It's Slayer for me. Not a fan of Maiden or Metallica. Sabbath would come a close second.

Also gave Lamb of God's new album 1 listen. It's good but more of the same from them. It's real heavy but does seem to have a couple of 'Roadrunner' tracks but maybe that's me thinking too much.

Cannot wait for the new Gojira album.

  9. had to go for Cage of Death 5 in the end, i haven't got 8! (thought i did).

I love the main event so much. The Cage of Death set-up is crazy. There's also the Cash/Joker ladder match which is alot of fun with a crazy ending.

  10. I don't think ive watched any (or very few) deathmatches since the TOD when Gage got his injury.

Any recommendations from then onwards? Do CZW still have one on nearly every show? Ive heard CZW has improved alot the last few years, so i might start watching again.

I do think some of the spots these days are a bit too much. Saying that how long ago was that garden strimmer on Mondo?! And i still thinks thats up there with the craziest stuff ever done in wrestling.

  11.

I haven't got a problem with Jesse coming back into the fold, but what was the point in holding the "open auditions" via YouTube and everything else if your just going to ask the previous vocalist back?

And with him coming back, I assume that Times Of Grace is done and dusted after just one album

Apparently Jesse did audition. The new album should be interesting as it's already written (including lyrics), so not sure how different to the last album it will be.

  12. Hondo Maclean actually did alright for themselves at the time, they toured and made a bit of a name for themselves before changing their name and trying again before finally giving up (2 of the band are now in Funeral For A Friend). They played a fun, drunken set the singer was destroyed.

I had no idea about this or that 2 of them are in FFAF. Was the gig a one-off?

I really liked Hondo Maclean. Got all there EP's and albums, ive even got The Future album d/l and listen to it regularly. Saw them live so many times, they even supported Lostprophets for a tour.

  13. Is anyone thinking about going to any festivals outside of the UK this year?

I went Brutal assault last year, and the plan was, to go to a different festival in Europe each year but this years line up at Brutal Assault is looking great: Brutal Assault

Machine Head, Deicide, Immortal, Suicide Silence, Dimmu Borgir, Converge........

  14. I actually don't mind BMTH's music. Suicide Season and the Remix version i both really liked, the album before was ok, but there latest was just plain awful.

But Oli Sykes is obviously such a horrible person, it's hard to like them as a band. The above post and plenty of other evidence shows this.

  15. I actually saw Spy Catcher last night on the Rock Sound Tour and i really liked them. Will check out more of there stuff.

Also playing on the tour were Defeater, who i hardly watched as i was in the bar, Trash Talk who were pretty good and fun live and Every Time I die, who were just awesome. Great setlist and encouraged people to get on up and stage dive as much as possible, which ended in about 20 people on stage for the last song, the guitarists lifted in the air by most of them and people stage diving everywhere.

I'm not sure why ETID aren't more popular with metal fans. They're maybe seen as a bit to cool and trendy. But on record and live they are really heavy and have the best riffs and have released 4 really good albums.

On a different note i had a listen to the first 5 songs or so of the new Korn album. It's ok i guess. With the big talk about it being dubstep, tbh i thought it didn't sound much different to alot of Korns other stuff.

  16. What are peoples predictions for next years Download & Soni headliners? The first announcement will be due in the next few weeks (going on previous years), plenty of rumours flying round too. I'm going for Soni - Rage Against The Machine / Black Sabbath / Paramore. Download - Metallica / Rammstein / Foo Fighters.

Machine Head will headline one of the two, surely?
