  1. Jackass 3D

You know what to expect, and for me it delivered again. Very enjoyable and the most i've laughed at a film in a while. They also upped the grossness with the poo cocktail supreme.

The 3D is actually used really well and imo the best since Avatar. Super slow motion 3D is the way forward!

It seems this might be the last Jackass as they get all sentimental for the end credits and throughout the film are little odes to past Jackass shows, i hope not as i love all the shows and movies but they are getting old now.

  2. Did anyone else watch Psychoville Halloween? I thought it was great and really creepy in places.

It was based around a local guy talking to another guy who wanted to make a Most Haunted-like tv show at a haunted building. The building being the home/hospital from the last series. They chatted to each other about apparent horror stories in the area that involved the characters from Psychoville. Each story had 1 or 2 little 'homages' to known horror movies. And the end linked up to the end of the first series brilliantly.

  3. Finally got round to seeing the Nightmare On Elm Street remake.

As a huge fan of the original, I didn't want to pay to see this in the cinema, nor on DVD/Blu-ray, but certainly wanted to give it a go out of morbid curiosity at least.

Considering the amount of sequels/remakes in the horror genre, I have to say this one wasn't bad as far as they go.

However, its biggest crime was that it felt utterly pointless. I don't think it brought anything new to the table, nor did it beat the original at anything.

It certainly didn't offend me as much as I thought it would, but by the end I just felt like it wasn't worth it.

I rarely dislike films but i really really didn't like The Nightmare on Elm Street remake. There were so many things wrong with it. The dream sequences being way to obvious, the kids falling asleep way too easily, Freddy not looking menacing at all, i could go on.

I watched Let The Right One In the other night. I wanted to watch it before i saw the remake. Oscar, an overlooked and bullied boy, finds love and revenge through Eli, a beautiful but peculiar girl who turns out to be a vampire.

I thought it was as good as all the reviews suggested. Both kids in it are great. It manages to be quite depressing but kinda sweet aswell. I loved the last scene

the way it was shot with him being held underwater and seeing the guys feet fly along and then the head drop in the water.

  4. Another Poundland buy. A double pack of 'Masters of Horror' tv movies.

1st John Carpenter's Cigarette Burns. From imdb With a torrid past that haunts him, a movie-theater director is hired to hunt for the only known print of a film so notorious that its single screening caused the viewers to become homicidally insane. Although a bit slow, very enjoyable and couple of great gore moments! I also enjoyed it a bit more because i used to work as a cinema projectionist and it has lots of cool bits connected with that.

Secondly, Stuart Gordon's Dreams in the Witch House. Imdb A graduate student questions his sanity after he rents a room in an old boarding house which was the residence of a 17th Century witch, and he figures out that the evil forces still roam within the walls. Maybe not as good as CB but still great fun. I loved the scene and moment when

he pushes his thumbs into the witches eyes until blood explodes out.

    ");document.close();.

After looking at these on imdb, i want to try and see all of the other episodes.

...and i've just looked on play and the 4 boxsets are 9.99 each, so i think i will check them out soon.

  5. Just got back from Paranormal Activity 2. Really liked it. I loved the first one and if you liked that then you will this one, and if not, then you probably won't.

I thought it was probably more scary than the first, but relied more on loud noise jump scary. The build-up on the scenes with the same noise soundtrack as the first works perfectly again. The cinema was packed and added to the atmosphere once the 15/16 year olds started getting into it and thankfully not get bored.

  6. I watched House on Haunted Hill yesterday. It's one of the many horror dvds Poundland have in for Halloween. I've bought a few and enjoyed them so far and the artwork on the covers are awesome too. This one was great. Vincent Price is really good, it has quite a good story and does manage to be creepy in places.

  7. Eraserhead Well i'm not really sure what to make of it. But it's a very interesting film. And one you could talk about and have 100's of different theories for. It covers subjects such as relationships, life and death, depression and fatherhood but all in a very weird way. Strangely, i feel like i want to watch it again soon. I would like to hear other peoples thoughts on the film.

  8. Are there 2 films called Them? I've watched the French film and didn't think much of it. It was like a poor version of Eden Lake.

Except Them came two years earlier.

There was another Them back in the fifties about giant ants, and it was also great.

I didn't say which one was first. I just meant that i thought Eden Lake was alot better.

Just watched Land of the Dead. To be honest it doesn't take much for me to enjoy a zombie film but i think this is one of the better ones. It's based around zombies becoming more intelligent. Nothing that original and it gets a bit cheesy but still a fun and entertaining film, with some cool deaths and a few decent performances. Poundland comes up trumps again!

  9. 20090311142505_song_album.jpg

dug that out of an old box of my cd's the other day and it's blowing me away once more. The album still sounds as fresh today as it did when it was released, fucking incredible band.

One of the UK's most underrated metal acts ever, i don't give a fuck what anybody says.

Yeah i still listen to Earthtone9 reguarly. I'm not quite sure why they were never more popular than they were. I saw them in a 300 capacity venue and there was about 75 people there. Still a great gig though! Is Karl Middeton (i think thats the singer) in any band atm. I seem to remember The Blueprint but i don't think they are still about.

  10. Although i havent bought Kerrang in years, i had a look at there review of Option Paralysis while in the newsagents.

It got 4K's but they say it's the hardest DEP album to listen to and may take several listens to really get into it.

  11. Being ill and bored i put on a King of the Cage dvd on this morning. I bought it at Woolworths ages ago for 1.99 i think and i've never watched it. It has 'Knockout Nightmare', 'Showtime', 'Greatest Hits' and 'Gladiators' all on one dvd.

I've only ever really watched UFC, so i'm clueless to most the guys on the dvd. I started to watch Greatest Hits.

Its starts with Ricco Rodriguez vs Travis Fulton. Rodriguez wins near the end of the 1st round with an armbar and looked pretty good.

Next, Antonio Mc Kee VS Chris Brenan. McKee continually took down Brenan for most the 1st round, but without doing a whole lot. As soon as the 2nd round starts, Mckee gets caught with a brutal kick to the face! He was out for quite a while.

Vernon Tiger White VS Todd Medina. White wins by KO in about 10 seconds.

Marvin Eastman VS Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. Rampages debut apparently. Eastman is massive. As wide as he is tall. Rampage loses by decision in a decent fight, Eastman seems to get away with a couple of illegal elbows. Ken Shamrock mentions on commentrary that we are watching a future world champion in Rampage.

Duane "BANG" Ludwig VS Shad Smith. Ok fight with a great finish. Ludwig just hits kick and punch after kick and punch until Smiths corner throw the towel in.

Tony Galindo VS Kurt Rojo. Again only lasts about 10 seconds. Galindo lands a punch which looks pretty crazy, especially in slow motion.

Theres a few more fights to go that i havent watched. Enjoyable so far and definetly worth 1.99 as i have another 3 events aswell.

  12. So i've listened to Master of Puppets. And i really wasn't that impressed, it's ok i guess. It's the vocals that i don't like and it puts me off nearly any Metallica song.

As for Slayer, love them. Yeah alot of there stuff is the same but it's great. I like all their albums.

I'd recommend Beneath the Remains by Sepultura if you prefer Slayer to Metallica, you may like the two previous albums by them but the production is a lot less and they have more of a death metal sound.

I own Beneath the Remains, and as you mentioned it, realised i haven't listened to it in ages. And after listening to it today, i should listen to it alot more reguarly. Awesome album!

I have quite a few friends into metal but we all seem to have pretty different tastes. Theres still plenty of bands/songs we can agree on that we can listen to when at someones house.

  13. So i've listened to Master of Puppets. And i really wasn't that impressed, it's ok i guess. It's the vocals that i don't like and it puts me off nearly any Metallica song.

As for Slayer, love them. Yeah alot of there stuff is the same but it's great. I like all their albums.

  14. Your name is, presumably, in relation to the band? It may well be that maiden and metallica just aren't for you.

Despite Lostprophets being my fav band, i do generally listen to heavier stuff.

Last year i really started getting into both Katatonia and Opeth, both really great bands with several great albums.

Today i had a listen to Entombed - Left hand Path cos i hadnt listened to it in ages and it's really very good!

So the Metallica stuff. I've been at work allevening so havent listened to much. One and Nothing Else Matters are 2 songs i actually already liked. Before work i had a quick listen to Blackened, didnt really enjoy, mainly due to the vocals i think. Meaning i did like Call Of Kthulu (that was the instrumental one, right??).

  15. I'd love to see Rob Zombie at Donington this year. I'm suprised this hasn't turned into a slagging match over what and what isn't metal (or mallcore) but I'm glad that it hasn't. I like a pretty large chunk of heavy metal, takes up the biggest part of my music collection and taste. My favourite Metal band, and favourite band in general, is Metallica. I've seen them 17 times (with 4 more coming, 5 if they do Download) all round the world and have pretty much everything Metallica you could possibly have. I finally met them last year and they're great guys, its especially interesting to meet them as they are now compared to how they were when I was growing up watching them.

I'll also add to the Sepultura love, never been a big fan of Soulfly or Max in gerneral otherwise but they have some fucking awesome tunes.

There's a few metal bands i've never really 'got'. Metallica being one (Iron maiden being another, there are several more). So i thought i'd ask, give me say 3 songs of Metallica's that will convert me. I have listened to plenty of them i guess, but i don't own aything by them.
