I can't wait until he starts playing the legends games, fat as fuck. He was born for this!

He's already formed a telepathic connection with Mbappe's dad!

It was cool seeing him link up with Pires. The original effortless PL left winger who if you bring up stats I'll start feigning that I'm going to fall asleep, too. Just enjoy entertainers at work, ffs.

Very good. The previous Maccies advert with the smug overly-happy bastards in the traffic jam raising their eyebrows at each other is the worst advert I've ever seen though.

This one makes my blood boil. When I went to see The Meg 2 doing the 4DX gimmick and that ad came on I was convinced they were going to spray water at me in time with the eyebrow raises and it would be my serial killer origin‐story!

  3. When you train with the intensity and burning desire to be the best every day like Eden did, it's no surprise he burned out by the time he turned 30. There's only so many miles you can put on the clock.

The Spanish media's reaction to the Laugh Heard Around The World is classic. "Fue como si toda mi familia hubiera sido violada delante de mí".

  4. Mortal Kombat 1 was alright, better than 10 and 11. The first half of the story was really good, funny and toyed with my expectations well. It seemed like it was going to be a great reset for the series like 9, then it just completely fell off a cliff from about the Scorpion chapter on. I wasn't big on the (ugh) Kameo system, just let me do my own moves, ta, would have preferred having the environmental attacks and weapons back over having a partner. It's MK so it's always fun to play, but this was a huge missed opportunity for the series and I have very little hope in their universe being interesting anymore now...

    Spoiler

FUCK MULTIVERSES, JESUS CHRIST, GO AWAY! I'd been so happy to see the back of all the zombie characters as well. Between them and the shit mash-up characters at the end it felt like they were just trolling. I didn't even get to fight the only one of them that looked cool, Goro Kahn.

I like what they did with Reptile, Baraka and bae Mileena though, my Empress!

  5. I have big nostalgia for it just for always being the first thing on after Nickelodeon would turn into Paramount at 7. Iconic intro.

I think we all realised by the time of 8 Simple Rules that Al was a wrong'un. Katey Sagal is a robo milf.

  6. I can't do screen protectors. Once again I've tried putting one on a new device, once again I've followed all advice down to a tee, and once again I've ended up with something looking like Aero have got in the technology game or it's a limited edition Leprosy model. I've gave up and the screen will have to brave the elements rawdog. Never again.

    Your turn!

Anyone played Red Dead on Switch yet? Might pick it up for my holiday next month. Even though the second one is in my top 3 I’ve never played the first one after it played like shit on PS Now with dropped frames giving it a weird motion. If it plays smooth I can’t think of a better way to play it than taking long luxurious shits on a Greek island whilst hiding from my Mrs and kids.

I haven't played it. I've been curious about it and watched a good few performance videos though. It seems fine, more stable than the 360 and PS3 (this one was a little janky already before you even added PS Now into the mix) versions were on their hardware originally. Probably about as good a port as you could ask for. Jump in, it's a king anywhere!

  8. This looks like a godsend. I haven't had much issues control wise since upgrading from the Miserycons to the Hori Split Pad. It never fixed my issues with the Switch always feeling pretty loose and non-cohesive in portable mode though, and lacked rumble and (I don't care) gyro. This looks like it'll fix all that. Argos have them in from the 25th for £60. An easy buy for someone who someone who spends 99% of their Switch play in portable mode*, ymmv.

*I think House of The Dead was the only time mine has been hooked up to the TV in the last few years.

  9. NetherRegions Studios have a good track record with handheld ports. MK9 on the Vita and 11 on the Switch are minor miracles, having the full packages on there. 1 is going to look brutal at times, but how could it not? They're generations behind. I'm not saying it shouldn't be criticised, or that you should buy it (I definitely won't be on the Switch!) but I don't think you can reasonably ask or expect more from this version.

  10. This isn't original at all and I'm pretty much just doing WarGames: Russo's Revenge and swapping out a title for a briefcase, but I want the MITB triple cage. Ladder matches have long gotten stale, the amazing looking triple cage has long needed a return, why not kill two birds with one stone? The winner is the person who gets the briefcase out through the bottom door. As well as spectacle spots, you have great scope for story telling with the daredevils risking it all to go up the cages, while some cowards/giants confidently stay at the bottom. Plus, you still need a ladder to get up to the second cage anyway, have one at the top needed to get the briefcase too, it's perfect. It's still MITB, just better. Book it

  11. The new (to me, I must have missed a previous reveal) Prince of Persia looks cool. I'm definitely down for trying the Tomb Raider trilogy if it gets a somewhat modernised control scheme, if not... I just can't, I'd break things. Either way I hope it's successful and we could get the Legend/Anniversary/Underworld trilogy at some point. They'd be perfect for Switch, not requiring all the modernising of the classics, nor the mass scaling back they'd need to get the newer ones running at all.

  12. I've only seen up to episode five, but the new one could really have done with more crime of the week stuff to keep it interesting like early Justified did. Harlan was an amazing character all on its own, without seeing the smaller stories Detroit doesn't have the same charm.

  13. XBSX2 updates...

Hulk: Ultimate Destruction: Still the world's greatest blood pressure medication. Nowhere near enough games start off with letting you throw cows and hit tanks with other tanks! Just putting it on for the odd half an hour here and there and it's so well suited for that, a therapeutic blast. The cartoony art style scales up to 4K nicely (The Punisher looked surprisingly gorgeous too, though I couldn't get it to run okay at that point).

The Getaway: I'm not sure why I got really curious about trying this again, I don't remember liking it much at the time. I don't know if it was because the PS2 was struggling to run it or if it's because I'm running the game at twice the framerate but it no longer feels like you're doing everything in slow motion now, especially driving. It's still a mediocre game and little fun to play though, it's funny looking back that regenerating health actually caught on after seeming very alien in this. Very impressive technically for its time, it was cool to fuck around with it a bit in 2023 but I'd have to be very, very bored to come back to this.

Airblade: I remembered this as being a fun, futuristic Tony Hawk knock-off. Lol no, sluggish trash. It has a story and you kill people with your hoverboard?! My memory is shocking. Didn't last long.

Bond: Everything or Nothing: Completed it. The perfect Bond game. The cast, the tone, the story, the variety of levels, the gadgetry, the set-pieces, JAWS! It's all so spot on. It bums GoldenEye in the boobs. I definitely won't be letting 19 years pass before my next playthrough again!

  14. Our good preseason with four at the back was completely pointless if we're just going to start the season lining up with three centre backs anyway. I can't make enough sense out of the formation to tell if they're actually all playing as CBs, if they're not it's even stupider, Colwill's ending up left back most of the time and doesn't look comfortable there, on or off the ball. Along with whatever we're trying and failing to do with Chilwell, that whole left side's been sandbagged by a terrible plan so far. It's going to take months to make a cohesive team out of this mental squad anyway, but if we can't even put out a side that should work on paper yet, it's going to be another rough ride.
