  1. @Keith HouchenĀ i bumped into you the day after Takers debut in HMV, they had 2 shops in town then, it was the one near the bird cage. Do you remember? You asked me who he was and i told you it was Mean Mark from WCW.....

It was a Saturday, i think SS 90ā€™was shown on a friday night on Sky Movies back then.Ā

I think you had just turned 27 šŸ˜…

  2. Crawford done really well, adjusted his style when needed. I still find it hard to judge him though with his resume. Brooks whiskers are gone, first time he got clipped he went. Fairplay to him if he got a good payday from it.Ā Ā Hope he enjoys his retirement. Hopefully we get Spence/Crawford next year.

Would be a great bit of promoting if they managed to get Brook/Khan on PPV, wouldn't begrudge them either and iā€™d probably still buy it. Two great servants to British boxing for the last 10/15 years.Ā

    What a fight.

Great 7 minutes of build up with a tune iā€™m sure the older folk of the forum are familiar with. I remember watching this and all the Benn/Eubank/Watson/Collins fights. What a time to be a young lad following boxing.

Since reading up on the safety measures in place for such a high profile Ā fight itā€™s absolutely unbelievable something like this was allowedĀ to happen.

You have to blame the promoter, (Barry Hearn)Ā same with Benn v Mclenan (Warren).Ā

Both fights are tragic but both fights are brilliant.

  4. I think Crawford will win eventually but not without early problems. Brook is tough as nails. I still don't really see the hype about Crawford, his resume isn't great. Whats the best victory on there? I know its through no fault of his own but i am still not convinced.Ā

Ricky Burns went all the way with Crawford.Ā

Just because people say your p4p this over an over again, it doesnt make it true.

Brook was winning the first 7 rounds against Spence and if he wasn't weight drained and hadn't had his eye socket smashed in against GGG he may have won. If Brook has genuinely trained and made the weight correctly i think he will go to 10 or 11, maybe points.

Itā€™s great theres a no rehydration clause. I think Crawford will win but people will come out of there not saying hes the p4p best but more than likely asking more questions about him.

  5. Did Kane fight against the use of masks? I didn't know that.

Surely heā€™d be the last person to do so?

People have been told so much misinformation by so many different people throughout this whole pandemicĀ Ā that iā€™m not judging anyone on their opinion on it.Ā

People like Kane, Undertaker and Jericho, etc.....have probably spent hours of their own time at the end of hospital beds of kids and their families dying of Cancer and done a stupid amount of work for charities that none of us know about, so iā€™m notĀ going to judge them on political views.

  6. Ā

Just because somebody has different political views from you it does not make them not a nice guy. Kane seems a nice man.

With the schedule they have and to still give the amount of time they do give to visit sick kids and other charities, its a bit absurd to write them of as nutters because they vote differently from what you would.Ā

TIL something that probably loads of people on here know, that Rocky Balboa was most likely based on Chuck Wepner, not just for the fight with Ali, but also his wrestling match with AndrƩ in 1976. Seems that Stallone outright denied the inspiration, but in 2003, Wepner sued him and got a settlement for an undisclosed amount. Makes sense, really - the fight alone might not have done it, but the parallel career progression of then exploiting the new-found fame the match got him to go and have a wrestling match makes it difficult to dispute.

This is the trailer to a very good documentary on Chuck Wepner, The Real Rocky. It is on Netflix. Theres also a film about him called ā€œChuckā€Ā

Him and Stallone are now friends. Chuck actually made a lot of money doing appearances as The Real Rocky and tried out for a part as a sparring partner in Rocky 2, but turned up in no condition to perform and failed to land the role.

I'm a big Usyk fan but that isn't true. First fight was close, but Whyte knocked him out in the second fight. Nothing more convincing than that.Ā

David Haye recently pointed out in an interview that Chisora unjustly had a point taken of him and that changed the way he fought and made him more reckless which lead to Chisora getting knocked out. That could be used as a selling point for a third fight. Canā€™t see it happening though.Ā

You think considering Whyte was brutally knocked out 5 or so weeks ago that this situation would benefit Whyte, Ā and Matchroom and Himself would be happy to wait till January to give him some extra recovery time.

Why would Fury fight Whyte coming of getting knocked out by a 42 year old passed his best boxer?Ā Whats to gain? Reading on how concussions work i don't think Whyte should be even fighting in 3 weeks. If he goes in there with someone with a decent punch then he is getting flattened again. Then if Whyte fights anyone, whats happening with Povetkin? Is he just going to get fucked over and lose this massive money fight with Whyte.Ā

I think Eddie Hearn deep down does not want Whyte to fight Povetkin and deep down he wants to string out this Fury/AJ fight for another couple of years.

how does people seeing Usyk/Chisora going then? my initial thought is Usyk will frustrate him out of the gate, Delboy goes into his shell and Usyk cruises to a decision but Delboy seems super motivated from what im seeing on social media and he has to be aggressive to stand any chance here, interesting fight.

I think Chisora is at his best with come forward fighters, like the first Fury fight, Takam and the two Whyte fights. He will struggle with Usyks head and feet movement. Plus Chisora raises his game with the ā€œDerek Chisoraā€ chants at the 02. He wont have that this time. I see it pretty much going quite similar to the Uysk V Bellew match. I would like Derek to win, but it is a big ask.

On the Saunders fight, like most i want him to get smashed, but i would bet the house on Saunders winning on points. This may sound harsh but i actually think Saunders is overated, he has looked good only twice in the last 5 years, Andy Lee and Lemuiex. Heā€™s been done for PEDā€™s since then and has looked shite since, he has no discipline. Iā€™m not convinced it will go ahead, and if it does i bet he comes in overweight and has some lame excuse for it. Would love Murray to batterĀ the horrible cunt.Ā

  11. Yes i watched them šŸ‘šŸ».Ā IĀ drank in The Devon for a while many a moon ago and used to get eā€™s from the pippen in the 90ā€™s!

Totally agree with what you say about Frank, the shows have been thick and fast and while not always quality its good to have boxing on regularly. His December cards to mark his 40yrs is the business look the business. Dubios Joyce being free to air is great stuff. Ironically its the only heavyweight clash i would have actually paid for amongst the 4 in that short space of time.

  12. This is a great 51 minutes of a boxing program. Tony Sibson is one of the most underated British Middleweights of all time. People never really mention him when talking about great middle/super middleweights of the past. He destroyed Minter, although they were on different trajectories at the time.Ā

Tough as nails. Was unfortunate to meet the GOAT middleweights in his prime.Ā Ā
