Paid Members Rob Lowe Posted August 3, 2008 Paid Members Posted August 3, 2008 as long as waterworlds top 5 yer laughingIve always liked Waterworld, it has a few problems but its a great action-adventure film. It got way too much shit thrown at it.
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted August 3, 2008 Paid Members Posted August 3, 2008 What's wrong with Johnny Depp?Johnny Depp is overrated. He's a good actor but just because he has A-list looks but does "character" roles rather than leading man roles people think he is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Depp is good and is usually a lot of fun but has he ever had a truly great memorable performance? If he has then I haven't seen it.And all this talk of replacing Heath, I say fuck it. I'd rather they just go with different villians in the third one rather than create a shit storm by recasting him.
KFR42 Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 I feel sorry for Seven, why pick holes in a great film? Who the fuck cares if there was holes (which I personally didn't notice AT ALL) when a film is so good?Because it's not a great film. It's a good film. Huge difference, but hey, the masses don't seem to care. No, I think you've just proved that it is a great film. Being a great film is opinion and if the masses think its great then its great. You don't have the majority vote here. But I do agree with some of your points. and theres a few bits I dont agree with. You complained that Batman broke his rule of not killing when he killed two face. Wasn't that the whole point of the ending and Gordon's short speech at the end??!!And you said the tribute batmen were distracting. Seriously, they were in two or three scenes in a 2 and a half hour film. How can that possibly be distracting!!??Scarecrow only being in it for a few minutes at the start. In the first film he was never made out to be a credible villain, he was beaten by Batmans girlfriend for fecks sake. They weren't about to have him cause Batman a heap of trouble when he was made out to be more a brains person than any credible threat. I thought they handled it perfectly as they acknowledged that he didn't just vanish and used him as they should have coming off of the first film to open up the movie.Oh and while I'm here, I actually enjoyed the Mist. Although I am a huge Stephen King fan.
Paid Members DEF Posted August 3, 2008 Paid Members Posted August 3, 2008 You think films should be celebrated. This confuses me. All films should be celebrated? Is that really what you're saying? Just like any other form of art or entertainment, there's varying degrees of quality. Some films are truly wonderful, others are great, good, average, mediocre and flat out fucking terrible. Surely you agree with that? I didn't come in here and take a swipe. Someone said the movie was "FUCKING AMAZING" and yeah, I found it irritating as it was presented in such a manner that I was stunned there was no "nuff said" after it. I intend to repost my review from the other board at the end of this post, so please don't try and label me as some random bully kicking sand in the faces of the Batman fans, because I resent the implication.Yeah sorry the celebrated line was quite vague. No I don't think that ALL films should be celebrated. But I mean film as a medium should be. When a good a film comes out, unnecessarily bating people by trying to marginalise how much they have enjoyed the experience with throw away one line derisions is the exact opposite of celebrating film as a medium. It shows little respect for the art form. Now your full articulate review I have no problem with, like I said I like reading your stuff it, it reminds me of when I debate films with couple of my friends. Now if this was the only time you had thrown out these one line derisions and weren't the type to fully intellectualise and articulate why disliked/like a film I probably wouldn't have mentioned it. But you are, so I did. In this instance I actually do think you come across as a bully kicking sand in there face because they are playing and having more fun than you. I'm not trying to imply that's who you ARE I'm saying that's how you come across when you post throw away lines like that.
Seratonin Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 (edited) Hostel Part 2 is definitely a contender for worst movie ever made (infact, we should work on such a project, complete with voting, etc), but it's no Elephant, which is no Waking Life, which is without question, the single worst film of all time.Agreed with this. There was nothing in the film to like. All characters, and all the dialog was just terrible. There was zero context in the death scenes, and they just sucked. You don't care who gets what. This is what I like about the new Rambo movie - there is context in the mindless violence, the guys who get ripped to shreds by machine gun fire and their intestines slashed out you feel DESERVE it. With Hostel 2 I feel the directors should get that.Off to watch Pulp Fiction now. I am 26 and STILL have never sat down to watch it. Edited August 3, 2008 by Seratonin

I don't see any possible way they were distracting, overall they had about 3 minutes of screen time. Infact, the terrorist video Joker made with one of the fake Batmen is one of the best scenes in the movie IMO.And as for the worst film ever I think Alien Vs. Predator easily takes the prize. KFR42 Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 (edited) Although many will disagree, for me the worst film I've ever seen is Napolean Dynamite. Awful awful film.Kung Pow was pretty damn dire too. Edited August 3, 2008 by KFR42

Moderators Astro Hollywood Posted August 3, 2008 Moderators Posted August 3, 2008 What an incredible piece of creative casting to have Heather Matarazzo play an awkward nerdy virgin.According to Wikipedia, she has turned lesbian...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heather_MatarazzoThat'll last like three weeks, or something. Good luck to her."Turned" She's been out for years and years. Maybe a real man like you can turn her straight, eh brah?

Being a great film is opinion and if the masses think its great then its great. This is a candidate for the dumbest post ever seen on this forum. What the hell are you talking about? So theres some god of movies who determines what films are great? Or maybe the film maker labels how good the film is on release? Of course its the fucking opinion of the masses that says how good a film is because they're the ones watching it and enjoying it. If you say its good and seemingly everyone else says its great then simple ratios state that the general opinion is its great. You can't say 'actually no, the film is good not great because I say so'.Maybe I should be hurling random dumbest post candiations at you for you inability to understand that. I won't, but you get the idea. Edited August 3, 2008 by KFR42
Steveo2007 Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Just because the masses think it's great doesn't make it great. Everybody has an opinion. Personally I believe no movie is either great or shit. It's a matter of opinion. If you think it's great then it's great, if you think it's crap then it's crap. It doesn't mean it's a fact about that movie, just your opinion is what matters, if you insist on pushing your opinions on others then cool for you... And me :)An example is the movie Scarface. There are a lot of people in the world that will rave that this is one of the greatest movies ever made. Me personally, I think it's utter shit and that is my opinion on that movie. Just because a larger majority say it's great doesn't invalidate my opinion and doesn't mean I'm wrong. It's just what I think.
Seratonin Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 (edited) Well to discuss an opinion is one of the reason why I come on forums. There are genuine reasons why someone might like a movie, another person might hate it. I enjoy discussing and understanding someone elses train of thoughts, and hell sometimes I watch a Tarantino film and can't understand why everyone was raving about it - so I read IMDB and try and see it from someone elses point of view.Personally I don't know why these threads are so flame-infested, but whatever floats your boat. There are certain ways to put across an opinion without getting personal. Edited August 3, 2008 by Seratonin

wrestleme Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 I'm puzzled why anyone would want to watch Hostel 2 if theyve already seen the 1st Hostel , which was very slow . For the first 45 minutes of that film you'd be forgiven for forgetting its supposed to be a horror movie , its more like a video diary for european backpackers crossed with a buddy-buddy movie .
