Completely. My first post in this thread mentioned 'Backstreets' from the Edinburgh show a couple of years ago, and Max's work on that is astounding, just in the intro where he slowly increases the volume in sync with the piano until it crescendos exactly as the guitars kick in, goosebumps every time. And 'Thunder Road' is not 'Thunder Road' without that one perfect drum fill after "we're pulling out of here to wiiiin". I don't know how he can still do what he does for 2 3/4 hours every night at 75, but I hope he's still got a few more years left in him.

Madonna - Like A Virgin (MTV VMAs 1984)

MTV and her management wanted her to do a song off her first album, she said nah and performed Like A Virgin for the first big audience (she'd performed it live to a small nightclub crowd) and then rolled around the floor half undressed, looking absolutely gorgeous.

Her manager afterwards said she'd just ruined her career. Go on Madge!

JEEEEEEEEEEESUS this takes me back.

I was such a huge Beasties fan in my teens. My long dead old PC at my parents house had such a huge archive of their bootlegs and remixes.

I went to see them on the tour for The Five Boroughs for my 18th Birthday and it remains one of the best live shows I've ever seen.

Also saw them at Rock Werchter in Belgium in 2007. Ridiculously they headlined the second stage, which was quite a small tent. At the same time, Bjork was headlining the main stage. The tent was absolutely bouncing with people outside as far as you could see. It was so busy that I have always assumed Bjork was playing to an empty field. 

Not really gone back to them in years / since MCA died. I need to correct this.

This Nirvana performance on Jonathan Ross is probably my favourite ever. How that little man creates that noise always amazes me.

A good reminder that when they wanted to be, they were the heaviest punk band.

And this of Silver Springs is just magic.

Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham staring at each other while she sings "You'll never get away from the sound of the woman who loves you" is just the best.

Messy as you like that lot.

On the Metallica vibe , not a fan but this is absolutely immense. An epic performance  considering the crowd, the fact that it’s Russia , i am guessing this is peak Metallica performing their most well known song in front of their biggest crowd.

Caffeine by Faith No More in Germany in 1995. Not their catchiest or crowd friendly song but i love how comfortable Mike Patton is whilst essentially just the bassist plays the same notes for nearly 2 minutes before he goes into screamo mental mode. 

 

It’s his stage and he will do what he wants. 

Pro Shot and the sound engineering is great.
