Ahead of Netflix getting WWE content on 1 January, WWE have now said that only selected content will be going across, which for reasons discussed in the main Netflix etc thread, is not a surprise.

That being said, this means that we will be losing access soon to a lot of the content currently on the WWE Network.

So what matches/content do we think are going to go, and what should we try to watch before it vanishes into the ether?

For a starter, I can't imagine they'll port across the WCW Thunder archive.

I'm currently reading the Wrestling Observer 1999 collection on Kindle and Meltzer mentioned a random ****+ Thunder match from 14 October 1999 with Silver King and Juventud Guerrera vs Kaz Hayashi and Blitzkrieg, which on watching, was indeed a spectacular little spotfest.

Setting aside the actual Hidden Gems collection then, what do you think isn't going across to Netflix and is worth a watch before then?

I was thinking about this earlier. They'll be metrics for what doesn't get watched and I sadly think Netflix will be rather brutal in their culling. I'd expect anything from the mid 90s and before that's shoddy in Video quality to be long gone in it's full form. No territories, smokey mountain, very early ECW. Most WWE ppvs, raw, SD will survive hopefully but I'm not expecting much. 

I'll certainly miss being able to pop on the occasional old Nitro. 

Honestly, the thought of not having access to that content upset at first but I don't watch a lot anyway so it's hardly going to hurt. Having a non laggy replay of current TV and PLEs on a service I already have is very appealing. 

I think this is why WWE is smashing the vault YouTube channel. No full shows but great matches popping up daily to alleviate the fanbase who do like the classics. 

I also wonder if there's a hidden deal in here somewhere that WWE can in a year or so set up a WWE 'classics' sub service that shows everything 5+ years old that Netflix doesn't want. You wouldn't want to muddy the waters until the new deals running incase people don't want to switch but once the balls running then it may hopefully be an option for those disappointed.

Hopefully they will start to upload anything lost to the WWE Vault channel on youtube, obviously don't expect everything but it should suffice.

I think they will post stuff for limited time, from a business POV it's a good idea to post, say Raw from 1995, for a limited time to get high viewing numbers.

 

I would be very intrigued what percentage of viewers weekly were watching 'from the vault' wwe shows

It'll be doled out through subscription or something maybe. Though knowing our luck they'll clock people love that Vault and start posting stuff from the Network onto YouTube as a 'First Time on YouTube and the WWE Vault' to recycle things we could have watched on the network.
