I was down at my parents in sunny Ferndown, Dorset and saw a poster for "Wrestling at the Barrington Centre".

The Barrington Centre is the little village hall where am dram productions are done and where I first fingered a girl at a local schools dance when I was 17.  Who is running a wrestling show there?  And what sort of audience do these things get?  I can't imagine more than 20 people in Ferndown being interested in the old grappling, particularly as the poster literally said "Wrestling" with a body shot of some pleathered young chap I didn't recognise.

I've always had a fascination with these tiny wrestling shows, and wondered if anyone regularly goes to them and what they are like?

That's a new group called 'Rizen Pro Wrestling' - they've only run one show so far, and aren't using anyone at all that you'd consider any level of star/name. Proper bottom-level indie wrestling.

They've put some of the matches from that first show on YouTube, including the main event:

Doesn't look too bad a turnout, to be fair. Sure, it's probably only just into triple figures, but isn't the single row of bored-looking punters you get at some stuff at that level of British wrestling.

All Star are in Leicester this Sunday. At The Athena. I'm taking a bunch of my nephews, their dad's, and the father in law. Does anyone know much about the show and who or what to expect? It's been a few years since I went to a UK scene show.

The show was quite impressive. Simple ASW style wrestling. Well developed characters. The kids and their dads loved it. ASW have invested well in their setup. It looked professional, as did the wrestlers. The relationship between the venue and the ASW crew looked to be very good. They worked very well together in utilising the venues lighting rig and sound system to enhance the show, Especially during the end of show Rumble. The Athena is a theatre type building and maybe isn't the ideal wrestling show venue. It did however give the show a unique setting as opposed to say a Leisure centre.  All the wrestlers knew how to get the crowd involved and played their roles pretty well. Tiny Iron was super over with the kids, the guy is a walking action figure. They did all the simple things very well and a couple of the guys could move on to bigger things. Attendance wasn't terrible, but definitely could have been better. More local promotion would have helped. The crowd was made up of families and wrestling diehards.

Good show. Great value for money. Would go again.
