Fog Dude
Goodness, it's Wednesday already, isn't it? Doesn't feel like it yet. The results went into the original post on Monday night (when it still seemed like a Sunday), while the table has since been updated here. Stinky Dad made up for his recent absence by being top scorer with 21 points, to move further away from danger. However, the person in the most trouble, hallicks, made his picks slightly late, allowing Seph to widen the gap to the wooden spoon spot to 11 points. The former did nonetheless manage to avoid becoming this round's worst performer. That unwanted accolade (awful name for Rusev's finisher, BTW) went to Rory, who got just 6 and was one of three participants not to get any exact scores from the 20 fixtures. At the top, the gap has closed by 2 points to 26, but it'll need to be even closer than that in 3 weeks' time if MVP RULZ is to have a realistic chance of being overhauled. As for the matches, the first half of the card in Week 38A proved quite fruitful for a smattering of one- and three-pointers, but Crewe's important victory at Shrewsbury, Scunthorpe's failure to win at the Globe Arena, and the stalemate in the Highlands all caught a lot of players out. A score draw at Kingsmeadow and an expected triumph for PSG in the Coupe de la Ligue rectified things somewhat, being more widely foreseen. Slightly harder to guess was the comfortable Everton win that put the nail in the coffin of the home side's former manager, but it was still a more useful scoreline than the five-goal thriller at Carrow Road. Less helpful was Cambridge Utd's reverse against Chester, as the hosts perhaps rested up ahead of the play-offs while the visitors live to fight another day. In the other Conference game, Aldershot virtually ensured survival despite their points deduction, but only a handful of FPLers backed them to win at Kingfield. Nobody thought Blackburn would defeat Brum by a 4-2 margin at St Andrews, despite The Blues' terrible form on their own patch in this campaign. Crucial wins for Forest and Pompey at Leeds and Northampton respectively were easier to plump for, but most didn't have faith in Wolves to seal the League One title at Orient, who are already ensured of an extended season. Few bet on Tranmere to hold the Blades to a stalemate, whilst Torquay's dead cat bounce in the Devon derby put off their fate for another 5 days and cost many people precious points. Whew! Quite a lot to round up there. Three more straightforward sets of 10 to come, so let's crack on with the first of them ASAP...
