Fog Dude
Was going to go with a little more sensible prediction for the game at Old Trafford, but delirious optimism is at an all time high so fuck it. Should've stuck with your more cautious hunch! The final scores went into the original post on Sunday night and now the table has been updated too. We're going to focus on the bottom first because there's been a change there for the first time in ages. Mungo produced a phenomenal performance to notch 17 points and move 2 ahead of hallicks, who drops to last place. Mr Chutney was this round's top scorer, followed closely by hbk4life on 16. Del almost achieved the rare feat of getting every result right, but the only one he didn't guess correctly was the D2D, which cost him an extra 3-5 points. Despite that, he was still the third best participant this time out on 13 points, enough to put him up to second, still 7 points behind leader MVP RULZ. Three players were joint lowest scorers on 3 points each. One of those was the only person who didn't think struggling Sampdoria would be seen off in Florence, and one other person didn't play. Most got the Juve result right, but nobody foresaw the exact scoreline because they expected it to be closer. Closer to home, two late goals saw Rochdale overcome their hosts, which means TUFCfan got his D2D turn wrong, but he nevertheless managed a more than respectable 6 points. Twelve of a possible 21 other people correctly disagreed with him, although some of those bet on a draw. Elsewhere, a lot of participants rightly thought that Braintree and Tamworth were the most likely non-leaguers to cause upsets. The latter earned a replay in Wales next week just as the Staffordshire side were busy knocking out Cheltenham. Another Gloucestershire side fell at Whaddon Road versus Fleetwood in a match that proved fruitful for three-pointers. Nobody quite imagined The Stags would run away with their tie at St Albans so easily, although eight goals against was said to be very harsh on the underdogs. I didn't include Macc-Swindon on the card this year because it was a foregone conclusion! The narrow margin of victory for Crawley at Keys park was also useful for many. Away from the Cup, United's triumph over Arsenal surprised a majority of players, but guesses of draws and home wins at Villa were evenly split, only the former being right. New set of 12 coming up very soon since it's yet another international round coming up. Luckily it's the last one this season.
