When was the last time they did a main even that wasn't 5 rounds? Must be some time ago.

There's been quite a few occasions when it's happened. Basically whenever the main event drops out and the co main steps in. The contracts signed for the event and the training has been geared towards 3 rounds, so it stays at that.

I know UFC 161 with Evans vs Henderson was 3 round main event. I think there's been a few more since. Wand or Ebb will probably know.

Yeah there's been a few. Can't recall them all of the top of my head.

Anderson Silva vs Stephan Bonnar at UFC 153 was one. But that was a unique situation where half the main card fell out so they had to cobble together almost a whole new PPV main card just a few weeks out. The original lineup had Aldo vs Koch and Rampage vs Glover on top. Then Koch got hurt so it was Aldo vs Edgar and Rampage vs Glover. Then Aldo got hurt. Then Rampage got hurt. With about two or three weeks until the PPV they had to scramble around and they didn't do a bad job given the circumstances, to be fair. It ended up Silva vs Bonnar, Glover vs Maldonado and Big Nog vs Herman. So, given the short notice, it was only fair to make Silva vs Bonnar a three rounder as they weren't even in camp when the call came.

Usually though, like lamby says, it's when the main falls out and the co-main is bumped into the headline position.

Things are going to be heated as fuck for Parke vs. Madadi.

At the weigh-ins, Parke threw a handbag (an actual one) at Madadi - for those that don't know, Madadi recently got out of jail after robbing a handbag store. Both of them were full on raging. Best thing Parke has done so far in the UFC.

Here's the Norman Parke-Reza Madadi bit of the weigh in...

Like MOM says, that's the most entertaining thing Stormin' Norman's ever done in the UFC. You could tell something was likely to kick off just watching Madadi there. Screaming, slapping himself, screaming at Parke on the scale. The man's an utter fucking loon.

There seemed to be something about the Dublin air that got the intensity up all-round at the weigh in, actually. The Pendred-Breese, Askham-Jotko and Holohan-Smolka staredowns were all pretty hostile as well. And Aisling Daly just did some oddly aggressive smile right in Ericka Almeida's face.

It's worked on me though. I'm looking forward to this show a little bit more after watching that weigh in.

Edit - read something earlier as well that there was a rumour that Tom Breese was the one who knocked out Joe Duffy in sparring. Could well be bollocks and I can't even recall where I read it now, but I'd say that doesn't really bode well for Pendred if true.

Could have been, Breese is with Tri-Star now as well. That fight is a nice lil sub-plot to the Duffy-McGregor saga.

Ive watched a couple of Cathal Pendred interviews this week where he's talking a good game and addressing his poor recent performances. Interested to see if there is any improvement.

Also never realised that Cathal is actually pronounced Carl. Learn something every day.

Bunged a $5 spot down on a 6 fight acca. I usually cap it at 3-4 fights but ive gone abit nuts (i never win either way).

Holohan, Parke, Askham, Whiteford, Dalby, Breese.

All favorites except Holohan and Whiteford. The whole Irish thing has me favouring Holohan though. Whiteford im unsure about but the chip on his shoulder he had during pre-fight interviews made ma a believer, dude aint playing around.

I didn't even realise Darren Elkins was on the card until i saw Whiteford's interviews. A guy like him seems like a young British fighters worst nightmare but ive gone for it.

He may have provided the most entertaining antics at the weigh ins, but I really hope Norman Parke gets knocked out tonight. He's easily one of the least likeable fighters on the roster. Every time I've met him or seen him in person he's been a dickhead and last I checked he's even worse on social media.

Its an Irish name, pronounced "Cau" (i.e. pronounced like the first 3 letters of 'caught') + "hill"- so Cau-hill.

Not Kath-all, like Dana says.

I've never warmed to him either. It's weird because I don't remember even really noticing him when he was on The Smashes, much less be annoyed by him. But since the show finished I've wanted him to lose every time I've seen him fight. He's just not likeable in the slightest and I haven't even met him, I'm just basing it on what I've seen on telly or online interviews and stuff.

What happened when you met him then?

I'll be rooting for the burgling bag snatcher tonight.

Does it change with the region? I knew a lad called Cathal who pronounced it "Ka-hal". Think he might've been from Cork.

Might just be the accent - people from Cork sound retarded.
