Guy Bifkin
I reckon McGregor v Duffy will happen sooner rather than later. Maybe as early as next year.
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted October 20, 2015 Author Paid Members Share Posted October 20, 2015 McGregor beat Poirier so quickly and brutally that Duffy has a hard act to follow. And it's not going to be easy to equal or top that performance. Poirier's no joke and he's looked great in his couple of fights since going up to 155. Â Duffy probably won't be thinking that way, nor should he. He doesn't seem the type to be distracted by trying to top Conor's win over Poirier. But you know everyone's going to be watching closely and comparing how Duffy does against Poirier compared to how McGregor did. McGregor smoked him. Even if Duffy wins comfy but goes the distance, fans and MMA media are probably going to cool off on the hype for Duffy.
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted October 21, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted October 21, 2015 True. Duffy himself probably wouldn't even mention McGregor but he has to be asked about it in every interview he ever does. It's a blessing and a curse at this point. If Duffy wins comfortably and goes the distance, there's no way the hype will drop. In fact, I would say it would get even bigger if he comfortably beat Poirier. Let's say Duffy shows off incredible strkiking for 25 minutes and brutalises Poirier, it will still keep his stock very high.  Personally, I think Duffy can beat anyone in that lightweight division, and actually think he can do it with ease. I think he's talented as fuck. His striking really is remarkable. Not in a flashy way like Pettis or Mcgregor, but he's just so smooth with his combinations it will give virtually anyone in that division fits. His ground game too is so good that for me, a title win is within grasp of Duffy.
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted October 21, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted October 21, 2015 Steady on Lamby. You may be right but considering his two UFC wins are over Ivan Jorge and Jake Lindsey you may be getting a little carried away there. Make those claims after Saturday and i may agree with you

Make those claims after Saturday and i may agree with you  I said the very thing within seconds of seeing Mcgregor too Ebb. You don't have to wait to see someone against top level opposition to recognise if someone has the 'it' factor.  It doesn't make a difference to me who he's faced so far, you can just see from his skill set that he's displayed, the way he strikes, he just has all the tools.  That said, I'm not saying he's actually winning comfortably on saturday either, anything can happen in a fight, but Duffy has all the tools to be champion. Paid Members Egg Shen Posted October 21, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted October 21, 2015 I don't disagree about the tools he possesses, i just think Duffy needs to show off his skills against a higher level of opposition until we start lumping that kind of praise on him. Paid Members Supremo Posted October 21, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted October 21, 2015 Just saw the news that the main event is off. I'm very glad I didn't buy tickets now. The show seems cursed. Â What are the odds that Conor offered to substitute against Dustin at 155?
METAL ON METAL
This show is cursed. Feel awfully sorry for those who bought tickets. Â The press release says he got caught with a head strike in training this week (another reason people should follow McGregor's training schedule) and has a mild concussion which UFC won't allow him to fight with. Paid Members Supremo Posted October 21, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted October 21, 2015 Artem Lobov and Norman Parke have offered to step in. Even Ross Pearson has said he'd take the fight if they can do it at 170. Dustin is saying he'd rather reschedule for January 2nd though. Â Really feel for the people who're going. Losing a main event AND a co-main event within the last few weeks absolutely sucks. Â I'm not sure what Duffy was thinking though. Taking any shots to the head this close to the fight seems like madness.
METAL ON METAL
Just read a mental statistic on Twitter that in 2015 so far, there has been changes to 34 UFC main/co-main events.
Paid Members lambyUK Posted October 21, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted October 21, 2015 Taking head strikes during fit week is absolutely ludicrous. All the work should be done by then and really it should be about getting the weight down and keeping loose and prepared. Â They should refund every single person who goes to that show this weekend. I know they've offered refunds, but for the people who turn up they be given a free show or close enough to it.
Ross18
Yeah.... Â Im heading out on Friday. Gutted! I think UFC really dropped the ball in not trying to get a replacement to fight Rothwell as well. Had much more time and it wouldn't have been as big of a blow. But now we're without the top 2 fights on the card. Â Ah well. They'll be plenty beer plus I've got two Scots to support. So hopefully still be a good weekend! Haha.
