seanz25
They've got a triathlon airing live and some Swiss league football. So I'd imagine ufc airing live would do better figures for them than either of those. Â Plus they also have a red button service they could have aired it on live. Paid Members herbie747 Posted July 18, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted July 18, 2015 Why - what time does the main show actually start at? Â Could be either watershed or scheduling. Although they have shown UFC at 8pm before. FYI, even though 8pm is before the watershed, Ofcom are a bit more lenient after 8pm, even though it's not the official watershed time. Â But UFC is also way more likely to have bloodshed than boxing - and people know what boxing is. Some people might be shocked by UFC if channel surfing and it comes on and their kids see someone being choked or their arm snapped or a big cut on their face. The choking is generally a big nono in front of kids (or pre-watershed) too - anything that kids can imitate.
d-d-d-dAz
I've been through this before on this board, so I'm remiss to go into too much detail..buuuuuuuuuuuut; Â OFCOM isn't so much about hard and fast laws as people assume. Well, not always. In so far as complainants can bring any case against a broadcaster, OFCOM will review to see if they believe there is a case to be answered and then the broadcaster is given the chance to justify something they've sent to air. Â For example, promotional content that is rated as adult, or not around kids, can usually be aired on certain channels during the day as there is either the realistic assumption children won't be watching or a general cultural assumption that children 'shouldn't' be watching. Â So, boxing gets away with going before the watershed (on sports channels exclusively), mainly because aside from the blood issue (which isn't as big a factor on boxing as UFC, admittedly) but because boxing is a huge part of the sporting culture, and the majority are familiar with its content, there is a cultural assumption that you know what you're getting and its on you to make sure your kids aren't in a position to be offended (for what it's worth, this certainly doesn't work for something like pornography. It's closest parallel is nudity in a medical context which is usually justifiable in the day; violence in boxing is allowed because it's justifiable in a sporting context). Â That said, UFC is a minority sport; to the extent that it's made any cultural inroads, it's seen as excessively violent and, actually, it's not yet been universally accepted into the British sporting culture. It's violence and bloodshed is judged more like a movie, or WWE, and thus less likely to be justifiable to OFCOM. Â Sorry, that was probably really boring. It's my job, though. Paid Members Egg Shen Posted July 18, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted July 18, 2015 right quick question... Â im working this afternoon, im due home about 10.30 tonight and don't have the convenience of a Sky Box to record the show...but if i stick Fight Pass on will the show be available to watch then? Â Someone mentioned that the show will be available live on there anyhow? if it is im assuming it'll be archived by 10.30.
seanz25
If it all goes ahead like UFC's twitter account have claimed. Then yeah it should be on there. Although I'd imagine it'll be nearer 11pm/Midnight dependant on when it actually finishes.

Yeah, you should be able to start watching the live feed - but then rewind (i.e. slide the player bar) back the to the start of the show. Â Which the WWE Network doesn't allow you to do for some dumb reason. But Fightpass does.
Ross18
Not long back from the fights.  Fantastic night. So happy that the Scots cleaned up. Such an awesome atmosphere for those 3 fights in particular.  So so so happy that Calderwood got a win. Been a huge fan for a while now and finally was my first time seeing her fight live. Her last fight left me properly gutted. So glad she bounced back. That body kick in the 3rd.. I thought that would of finished it there.  Rest of the card was great. Plenty of finishes to keep everyone interested.  A few pints deep... but thought maybe Leites did enough to take the fight, but definitely wasn't disappointed Bisping got the nod from the judges. Need to revisit that one. Harder to score fights after a few drinks I think. Also have no idea how a judge scored a round to Pearson. Thought that was a pretty obvious 30-27 all round.
seanz25
Pearson is an odd one really isn't he? He looks proper stuck in the middle of his division without being able to string a run of wins together to really climb the ranks. Gutted for him because he seems like a genuinely nice chap who works hard. Â Jo Jo looked great considering it was a real war of a fight especially. Didn't see the Bisping fight but glad to hear he won. The crowd in Glasgow where shit hot tonight too. I don't think it's just because it's their first event in the country either... Usually a rowdy crowd. Wonder if Dana will be looking to find a talent similar to McGregor in Ireland and really break interest up there. Easier said than done mind. Need to revisit that one. I kind of lost track of the scoring myself. So many of the rounds were so close. The only round I thought was pretty clear to score was the third for Leites. The rest could've gone either way really. When the fight ended I felt like Leites just edged it. But it was one of those fights where you could score it for either guy and it wouldn't be outrageous. Â On a sidenote - Bisping's toe! Errrggh. Fuck. Me. Â Another sidenote - Bisping's oldest son. Fucking hell. I remember being at UFC 89 and after Bisping beat Leben, his son got in the cage and he was this tiny little kid. Seeing him bigger than his dad now makes me feel well old. Â Dunham vs Pearson was decent enough. Just disappointed in the result. Every time Pearson starts putting a little run together he hits a roadblock. Don't know how he survived that armbar in the first round. Proper flashbacks of GSP vs Hardy watching that! Â Joe Duffy looked great again. Time for a bit of a step up. It'd be great if he keeps winning and McGregor keeps winning and they do a big rematch in Ireland down the line. It's a long way off but that would be brilliant, I think. The last guy to beat McGregor coming back to challenge him. Wonder if he has any plans to drop to featherweight anytime soon. Â Ivan Jorge coming out to the Batman theme was pretty funny. Â Calderwood vs Casey stole the show. And that was the best Calderwood has looked since the Invicta days IMO. Hopefully it'll be a confidence builder for her and she'll string some wins together now. Really entertaining fight and fair play to Casey. Aside from a solid first round, she pretty much just got battered but considering the short notice and the pressure of going into Calderwood's home territory in her UFC debut, she didn't do too bad. Â The Stevie Ray fight was the perfect way to kick off the main card. He looked really good and the stoppage was quality. Â Edwards vs Pawlak was the only negative on the main card for me. It wasn't terrible but it was fairly dull. Sort of killed the crowd a bit as well (at least that's how it came across on TV), after they were on a high from the Ray KO. Â Good show, all in all though.
Slapnut
I'm new to UFC. Why was the main event 5 rounds? I thought only championship fights were 5? Â EDIT: nevermind, a quick Google search answered that.
Ant
I was at the show and put 300 on Bisping about half an hour before the match. Â I'm no expert, but I genuinely thought I'd done my money. Would need to watch it again on TV, but I was very surprised with the decision. Though not disappointed! Â Nice atmosphere throughout, good night.
