Hey, hey VfB! As you probably know and can tell from my sig, I'm in Austria at the moment, and have seen both the local teams in the city of Klagenfurt play in the Austrian 3rd division central. Having made you all suffer with the Belgian second tier last season, I didn't want to go one level lower in an even weaker footballing nation for my D2D, so I looked elsewhere, but wanted to keep it German-speaking.

When my aunt lived in Germany she was based in the south-west, and the only Bundesliga team there are the time were Stuttgart, so she took us to see what turned out to be an exciting 3-3 draw with Hertha Berlin in the season leading up to the World Cup, during Il Trap's only season in charge. Afterwards we bought a scarf (which I have sitting in front of me as I type) and of course, the following season VfB won the German title.

Fast forward to uni a few years later and my new best mate, who's an Arsenal and Southend fan, also somehow happens to have acquired a Stuttgart along the way, and in the first semester we made a presentation in full red and white garb. Then last year one of the visiting exchange students turned out to be a real hardcore fan, not only was she a season ticket holder but also a club member.

What bigger game to choose than Bayern at home? I asked my Erasmus scheme acquaintance about tickets but obviously it's the most in-demand fixture of the season and sold out a while ago, so it looks like I'll be following it from afar. To be fair, although I'm closer than I'm ever likely to be when this game is on, it is still a bit of a trek on the train from the far south of Austria. So, do I think VfB can overcome the hated visitors from Bavaria on Sunday?...
