agreed mate, i own every ep and class it as one of my fav shows ever, i did find the last episode a little flat, but im unsure if thats due to me not actually wanting it to end, my only one gripe is i thought they were going to turn Dutch in to a serial killer when he chocked that stray cat to death, but it never seemed to develop.

I mentioned in the DVD Recently watched thread the other day that I have recently started to rewatched The Shield from the beginning, and its inspired me to take up my training regime again (along with the soundtrack of the new Machine Head album). Chiklis was perfectly cast Vic Mackey, I dont think the show would have been anywhere near as successful as it was if he hadn't been cast in the role. Its a caracter that you should really root for as hes one corrupt motherfucker, but you do because of the reasoning he does it. IM currently mid-way through Season 2 again, and the final scene of series 1 (with the Coldplay track in the background) was heartbreaking to see this street-tough cop brought to his knees, it truely humanised him.

personally, i thought this was the great moment ever in The Shield -

And heres a geeky piece of trivia - Jay Karnes, as we all know, played Detective Holland "Dutch" Wagenbach in The Shield. he also appeared in a 2008 episode of CSI playing the role of IA Officer Wagenbach. A subtle/geeky reference/tip of the hat? Or was it supposed to be the same person? (I stopped watching CSI around season 8)

David Aceveda's rape was a motherfucker. Some of the most power TV I've ever seen.Watching it I was like "well, obviously they arent going to go through with this". And then ...

I didnt know there was even much hype for the Shield and wasnt reading about it online, so watched the show without any idea what it was really about. Think it was on Channel 5, and then bought them on DVD when I got into it. Havent seen it in a while. Might start watching them again.

Hwever, the ultra cool Deluxe DVD set (which I Have) is now out of print

You can also buy the shirt Chiklis wore in the pilot off ebay too, which is pretty cool

 I own three of those shirts, black, navy, and white. Every Halloween I just stick one on with a pair of shades, and, boom, I'm Shane Vendrell, sorted. Got the deluxe dvd set too, and a Strike Team wallet, and a couple of mugs as well.

It's my favourite show ever, by a huge margin. The way The Shield evolved from being just a "violent cop show" that pushed the boundaries of what could be allowed on network television, to becoming so much more (while still pushing the boundaries) was a sight to behold. No show has ever created tension like it. Take the interrogation scene with the hitman Shane hired to kill Vic and Ronnie for example. As it goes on Shane knows he's about to be given up, and you can FEEL it, every time he blinks and squints, every drop of sweat, you can feel it. Despite what he'd done, by the end of that scene you breathe a sigh of relief after he's done a runner, because he made you feel his panic.

Walton Goggins acting in general between Lem's death and the finale is absolutely incredible, words really don't do it justice. Even before that though, his character progression was fantastic, even going from comic relief early on, to getting to that point, it never once felt unnatural.

I doubt I'll ever see anything top The Shield. 7 seasons of wonderful, wonderful television

PS. Fuck Channel 5 up the arse, with rhinoceros cock.

As cleetus states above ''fuck ch5 hard'' seriously the way they treated that show was a disgrace i dont even think they screened the last 3 seasons of it!

the show for me is pretty immense i cant really think of many shit angles they had it , was just perfect right until the end and the final scene with vic basically it ended the way it should have imo.

Judging by the shows shawn ryans had cancelled since then (terries, chicago code) im starting to doubt he'll ever top this.

I still dont get why people heap so much praise on the wire when the shield is far far better.

I think the Shield is the best thing that's ever been on TV, every episode felt like a good cop movie (like training day or something) and it was just a joy.

I don't think I've ever seen any TV or movie as tense as the Shield was sometimes, the Armenian money train robbery actually made me feel sick it was so "edge of your seat"SPOILER - Highlight the black box to read

Lem's death

was rough. Vic Mackey is an amazing character played to perfection, Shane's fight with the new black dude on the strike team was amazing.

Dutch boy was brilliant, the scene with him looking for the lap top with

the kiddy porn had me in stitches that and "who took my ding dongs"

I still ask to this day "why shane why" saints row 3 think ill create the strike team

It's certainly the best final season of a TV show ever. I can't think of anything else where the final season has been by far the best season and everything has been comprehensively wrapped up at the end.

As far as looking at the show as a whole, I think too many episodes were just "criminal of the week" standard TV cop shows, with the overall plot arc put aside or ignored, for it to be up there with the Wire etc. But it's still an excellent show.

incredible show.

favourite moment without doubt was Lem's murder. Fuck me! ive never been effected like that by anything in a film/tv show ever, i was literally shaking, it was powerful/shocking stuff. Amazing.

Anyone else have problems trying to convince people to watch it? i always pimp the show but no one listens. It seems that if TV shows don't get mainstream TV exposure over here people will just not try something.

I've told everyone to watch it, the 3 that did became as obsessed as me, the others don't know what they're missing.

Didn't know that T-Shirt existed, I want it!
