Juventus 0-1 Chelsea Torres 70'

Not much to talk about here Ramires hit the post with a diving header early on whilst there was no Juventus shot on target in the first half. As the second half started Didier Drogba put a Micheal Essien through one on one but Buffon made a good save 20 mins to go and it was Didier Drogba again putting Fernando Torres through this time and he smashed the ball home from 25 yards out to keep the cup holders in the title race. In stoppage time Didier Drogba hit a shot which could have been flying into the top corner but the game disconnected.

There was issue with lag but Dork owned up to it and it was a good defensive display from his Juventus side.

Napoli 2 - 1 Bayern Munich

Napoli managed to win in a tight game against Bayern which on another day could have gone Bayern's way. The first real chance of the game fell to Mario Gomez who failed to beat De Sanctis when in on goal. Bayern continued to the have the better of the early play until Napoli got more in to the game and almost took the lead when Marek Hamsik ran through on goal but hit his shot straight at the charging Munich 'keeper. Napoli took the leader soon after though when a cross from the left to the far post was headed in by Christian Maggio. Bayern almost scored from the kickoff but Arjen Robben's drive was pushed wide by De Sanctis. Robben also failed to score a bit later with a header. Napoli led at half time though Munich led the shot count 3-2. As in the first half Bayern had the better of the early going in the second half but it was Napoli who scored when a chipped cross by Maggio was headed in by Edinson Cavani. Bayern tried to fight back though and pulled one back through a calm finish by Mario Gomez when he was put through on goal. Gomez came close with another effort that was smothered by De Sanctis. A micropause occured when Bayern were attacking down the wing which caused confusion in the box when the ball came in but it was eventually cleared. Napoli almost scored a decisive third late in the game when a Cavani header was parried out for a corner. In the end Bayern deserved at least a point but the luck wasn't with bumclass and Napoli somehow managed to come away with all three points.

Napoli goals: Maggio (24'), Cavani (64')

Bayern goal: Gomez (76')

Athletico 3 Spurs 1

An early goal from Forlan gave Athletico the lead in the 3rd minute. Spurs were pressing hard for an equaliser when a brilliant counter attack left Aguero free to volley home and double Madrids lead. With only 20 minutes left Spurs needed something quick and they got it thanks to a wonderful strike from Defoe to make it 2-1. The game was settled though when in the 90th minute Suarez was able to fire home after Forlan had found him with plenty of space in the box. Really enjoyed the game.

Chelsea 4-3 Barcelona Iniesta 13', 84', Xavi 86'

Malouda 39'

Torres 59', 89'

Drogba 75'

It was the game everyone was waiting for and it didn't disappoint.

Iniesta got the first goal early on after some neat play from Messi, he sent a cross over for Iniesta to head home to make it 1-0 but from then on it was all Chelsea as Drogba hit the post from a free kick and he then sent Malouda through who turned Eric Abidal to make it 1-1 going into half time.

10 minutes into the 2nd half and Drogba was through on goal he hit the post but Pique brought him down and the referee pointed to the spot. Valdes made a good save from the penalty. 2 minutes late Malouda sent a ball into the box where Torres took a touch and put the ball into the net to make it 2-1. More pressure from Chelsea then saw Drogba take a free kick from just outside the box which flew into the top corner 3-1.

5 minutes to go and Chelsea fell asleep 2 defensive mistakes in a matter of minutes ended up with Barcelona getting back into the game with headed goals by Xavi and Iniesta. Chelsea then took kick off and with one of the last kicks of the game Torres latched onto a Drogba rebound which was saved by Valdes to get the winner.

Match of the tournament? I'd like to see a game beat it.

Alot of games to review this week and it seems there's still a few left over from week 6 to play so if you can check what I've got down as having not been played and let me know if I've missed something I'd be grateful! Some cracking matches this week and it was a hard one to choose the end of week awards so read on and see who got lucky (from what we've been told it certainly wasn't Mrs Espanacas!) Also we have joint top scorers and a number of chasers very VERY close!

WEEK 6 FIXTURES :-

Aston Villa 0 v 5 Barcelona Pique, Iniesta, Villa, Messi, Bojan

Barcelona continue to push Chelsea all the way at the top of the league and this result will have registered as a warning to their foes. Villa, no pushovers themselves under TezzRexx battled valiantly but they were undone by Barcelona's slick passing game time and time again.

Inter Milan 1 v 0 Juventus

Sneijder

Juventus find themselves under teh leadership of their second manager of the season and Dork had a massive challenge against Italian counterparts Inter. Inter themselves have been underperforming this season so to sneak a victory here will have done them no end of good. Juve may feel a little hard done by as they wasted a few good chances in the first half but the early signs under Dorks stewardship are positive.

Roma 0 v 4 A.C. Milan Pato (2), Cassano, Ibrahimovic

Milan took the three points in the other Italian derby this week but saw their own manager admit they were 'lucky' to have won the penalty that Ibrahimovic went on to score.

Man City 3 v 1 Man Utd Berbatov

Silva(2)

Milner

In only his second week in charge new United boss El Espanacas had to contend with the Manchester derby. City have been in good form in the first half of the season and had to be considered favourites before the game. They didn't disappoint. They where at United early and got off the mark quickly. They would've added to that goal sooner but for the woodwork but once they got a second they quickly found a third. United had Rio Ferdinand sent off for a professional foul.

Napoli 0 v 1 Everton Saha

A close fought battle by two evenly matched sides. It game down to the solitary goal that was scored by Louis Saha who remains Evertons top scorer. Napoli may feel they could have nicked an equaliser here but it wasn't to be as this game remained poised on knife edge throughout the 90 minutes.

Real Madrid 4 v 2 Arsenal Van Persie, Arshavin

DIarra

Adebayor (2)

Ronaldo

Arsenal will be miffed they let this one go. They were all over Madrid for the first 30 mins. They didn't let the Spaniards settle and deployed some lovely one touch football that carved Madrid open time and again. It was two nil by the 34th minute and could've been more. This prompted Madrid to change their tactics to a 4-3-3 and make a sub. They instantly got back into the game and in teh second half took over. Arsenal will rue their missed chances. Madrid will count their blessings.

Everton 0 v 0 Roma

Everton probably shaded it in this game but you would be a harsh man if you took Roma's point away from them. They showed fight in this one to prove their far from dead and buried!

Tottenham 1 v 3 Atletico Madrid Forlan, Aguero, Suarez

Defoe

A good game between two sides who have proved in this league that they like to attack and score plenty of goals. Forlan kept up with the scoring chart leaders by opening the scoring and Aguero finished a good counter attack move for the second. Spurs kept pressing for a goal back and were rewarded by Defoes spectacular effort. It wasn't to be though as Athletico wrapped up the points with Suarez netting in stoppage time.

A.C. Milan 0 v 0 Real Madrid

Madrid were lucky to get a point out of this one. AC Milan were much the better side and dominated posession as well as having far the better chances but they found a MAdrid defence and more importantly a Cassillas in a miserly mood. Point gained for Madrid. Two lost for Milan.

Atletico Madrid 3 v 2 Inter Milan Lucio, Pazzini

Forlan

Reyes

Dominguez

Diego Forlan had gone a bit quiet recently after a good start to the season but it didn't take him long to get back on track here for Atleti. It was a game of two halves in this one as the first was an end to end scoreathon whilst teh second was alot more scrappy. Twice Madrid were infront and twice Inter pegged them back all before half time. It was left to Atleti to nick it in the second half and take the spoils.

Barcelona 2 v 2 Bayern Munich Olic (2)

Villa

Iniesta

An exciting match up between two old foes. Barca employed their usual attacking game in the first half and took the lead before half time. The second was Bayern's chance to shine and shine they very nearly did. Two goals from Olic put the visitors in front, mostly to blame was Dani Alves who had a shocking day at the office by all accounts. Barca managed to get level but very nearly lost it late on when Robben hit a stinging drive that missed by inches. Both managers I'm sure will be happy for a share of the points in this one.

Chelsea 1 v 0 Aston Villa

Drogba

A late Drogba goal gave the league leaders the win in a game that saw very little happen. The two sides could only manage 6 shots between them with the conclusive strike coming from the Ivory Coast international.

Dortmund 0 v 0 Napoli

Another game that won't win any end of season awards as both managers admitted their sides lacked the cutting edge in this one. Both sides drew a blank as they cancelled eachother out and for the fans in attendence that full time whistle couldn't come soon enough.

Man Utd 3 v 4 Tottenham Defoe(2), Crouch (2)

Rooney (3)

Match of the week? Possibly match of the season here. A game full of twists and turns that by half time was looking very one sided. Spurs had a 3 goal lead and were very good value for it. It would take some stern words and some skilled tactical changes for United to turn this one around. Could they do it? Step up Wayne Rooney. He'd been very quiet in the tournament so far but in the 58th minute he sparked a 14 minute spell of football that very nearly killed off the Spurs boss. A hat trick from Wazza had Spurs realing and set up a frenetic last 20 minutes until deep into injury time Defoe broke United hearts. Rumours abound after the game that Mrs Espanacas had received a 3 match touchline ban imposed by her husband and had been banned from receiving oral sex for an unspecified amount of time are still to be confirmed.

WEEK 5 REMAINDERS :-

Inter Milan 2 v 4 Aston Villa Bent (3) Agbonlahor

Pazzini

Eto'o

A good win for Villa against an Inter side who kept pushing but couldn't quite claw it back. They'd found themselves two goals down quite early on and never truly recovered despite grabbing a goal back before half time. Villa doubled their advantage in the second half and despite Inter making it 4-2 it would always be a slog.

Roma 1 v 2 Man Utd Rooney, Fletcher

Adriano

A first win for Man Utd boss El Espanacas and a good nights sleep for Mrs Espanacas? Roma continue to prop up the table but you feel next season may offer greater things for their boss Ebb.

WEEK 4 REMAINDERS :-

Bayern Munich 4 v 0 Man Utd

Gomez (2)

Schweinsteiger

Robben

Mario Gomez was amongst the goals again for Bayern as he looked to push on in teh scoring charts and in doing so helped his side to a thumping win over Man Utd. Bayern have a very good record against English opposition and were never really troubled here as their dominance told.

Atletico Madrid 1 v 0 Roma

Forlan

Madrid took the points in this one in a game they dominated but failed to take their chances in. Frustrated Roma boss Ebb continues to stick with it and must be applauded for his resilience but thanks to their top scorer Forlan Atleti were never really troubled in this one.

GAMES STILL TO PLAY -

WEEK 6 :-

Bayern Munich v Dortmund

Juventus v Liverpool

Arsenal v Man City

Liverpool v Chelsea

WEEK 5 :-

Liverpool v Barcelona

Arsenal v Roma

WEEKLY AWARDS :-

MATCH OF THE WEEK - Spurs 4 - 3 Man Utd. It could've gone to either Villa/Inter or Barca/Bayern but the seven goal thriller between Spurs and new manager El Espanacas' United just nicks it. Spurs were 3-0 up and cruising when a Rooney hat trick got Utd back in the game only to be thwarted in stoppage time.

TEAM OF THE WEEK - Athletico Madrid. Tough one this too but due to their performances this week sees Atheltico take the plaudits.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Wayne Rooney. Finally he woke up this week. 4 goals including a hat-trick sees him just shade the reawoken Forlan for the award this week.

Barcelona 0 - 3 Napoli

Napoli weathered early Barcelona pressure to secure a shock win against the title challengers. Barcelona started off the much better team, managing to keep possession and passed it about trying to tease the Napoli defence out of position. It worked particularly well in the first ten minutes when Pedro twice had a decent chance to put them in the lead but spurned both opportunities. Napoli were only able to test Valdes occasionally with a decent header from Lavezzi who also hit a tame effort straight at the 'keeper not long after. Barcelona forced De Sanctis to make a couple of decent saves towards the end of the half and Valdes tipped a shot over the bar late in the half. Barce almost scored in injury time with one of their best chances of the game with a header that hit the post and the rebound was somehow scrambled away by the Napoli 'keeper and defence despite the attentions of the Barcelona forwards. Barcelona were very unlucky not to be one or two up at the break but it was Napoli who started the second half the brightest. Having had only three chances in the first half (one on target) they started to trouble Barcelona in the second with good efforts by Hamsik, who forced an excellent save out of Valdes, and Cavani who later chipped the onrushing 'keeper but his lob wasn't powerful enough and a Barce defender managed to intercept the ball before could reach the goal line. Napoli finally took advantage of their chances though when from a corner Cavani headed straight at Valdes who could only palm it back out to the Uruguayan who took advantage of his second bite at the cherry to head Napoli in to the lead. Napoli went two up six minutes leader when Christian Maggio scored with a driven right footed shot from the left side of the area. Barcelona started to press forward to try and get back in the game and Napoli tried to kill it off which lead to an open last ten minutes. Napoli almost made it three with a scramble in the box, but good blocking from the Barcelona defenders ensured that they were still in the game. They almost got back in to the game with a few minutes left when a David Villa effort looked destined for the bottom corner until De Sanctis somehow managed to get a hand on it and paw it out for a corner. Valdes joined the attack as Barcelona pressed for a late way back in to the game, but the ball was cleared and Napoli went on the counter. Hamsik managed to slot the ball through to Cavani who took advantage of an empty net to score from long range before Valdes could get back in goal. Overall a very good, well contested game. Napoli did end the game with 12 shots to Barce's 7 but Barce could have been home and dry by half time and it might have been a different game, and they at least should have scored in the match.

Napoli goals: Cavani (71', 89'), Maggio ('77)

PM'd Scorpion Deathlock to have one final check to see if he's around. If I don't hear back by this evening then a replacement will be needed (hopefully Deaq is still interested), though it looks likely as he hasn't been on the PSN for almost 2 weeks, about the same time he last posted in here and since then hasn't logged on here since the 24th.

I'm free later tonight & all day tomorrow. Sorry I've not been online since Friday been away visiting my mum in Hull & she has no internet (she hates Karoo so had to make do with no internet).
