Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted December 19, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted December 19, 2011 Glad Gonzaga's coming back, I hope he can get back on track. He's got all the skills to be a threat at HW but just looks like he can't be arsed sometimes. Â Schaub for example is one fight he should have looked a lot better in. I'd like to see him use his ground game again. That's always been his bread and butter but he fell into the trap of thinking he was a striker after the Cro Cop KO. Understandable and it's clear he can strike but his grappling is a major threat and he's neglected it for a while. He won his last fight by sub so maybe he thinks the same. Paid Members Egg Shen Posted December 19, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted December 19, 2011 i didnt know Gonzaga had a fight outside of the UFC, he won via 3rd round submission. Â It'll be interesting to see if Gonzaga is coming back for the right reasons, he always struck me as a guy who doesn't really have the heart for it and it might be a case of him coming back for money, or taking the UFC fight simply cause it's in Brazil. Hopefully we get a motivated, hungry Gonzaga cause he's a dangerous fucking guy.
Paid Members Snake Plissken Posted December 19, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted December 19, 2011 Brock's in trouble with the Law, but the hearing is not until Jan 21 so it wont affect UFC 141  The burly fighter failed to properly tag at least one of two animals his party had shot - a white tail and a mule deer, said Darcy Whiteside, spokesman for Alberta Sustainable Resource Development. "They shot an animal and didn't tag it," said Whiteside.  His guide and Albertan Chad Stryker, who was allegedly accompanying the celebrity, is also charged with the offences - unlawful possession of wildlife, abandon/wastage of the edible flesh of big game, and after killing wildlife, failure to immediately affix tag.  The alleged offences occurred over several days in mid November on a grazing reserve near Manyberries.  "In plain language, it would be considered poaching," said Whiteside.  Neither man appeared in court and it looks as though the court hearing has been pushed back to January 21, 2012. The Natural
Turns out Big Nog had to have surgery on his arm after THAT submission: Â Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira ultimately did end up needing surgery for the broken arm he suffered against Frank Mir at UFC 140 this month. His first doctor's visit suggested surgery may not be necessary, but after more consultations Nogueira underwent a procedure on Saturday, getting 16 screws put in his arm. Dr. Tom R. Hackett explained the injury and what needed to be done in a post on the Nogueira brothers' blog:Â "Mr. Nogueira suffered a complex fracture to his humerus. The fracture began in the middle of the bone and extended to the elbow region. Unfortunately, the radial nerve [one of the main nerves lending a feeling of power to the hands] was damaged. The nerve is located in the area of the fracture, and the bone compressed it. Before the operation, he had very little strength in his hand and no strength whatsoever in his thumb. Â The operation involved an incision behind the arm. The nerve was removed from the location of the fracture and treated. The fracture was fixed with a plate and 16 screws, and now, less than 12 hours post-op, his hand functions are returning and the bone is mending. Â If all goes well, he'll be back to full training in the coming months and should be 100% to fight in six months or less. We foresee him making a complete and full recovery." David
Glad to hear that Nogueira will be back sooner rather than later. Hopefully he gets a win or two before calling it a day. He can't retire after a loss like that.

METAL ON METAL
Loads of rumours have been flying about on the net today over a potential lightweight match between Gilbert Melendez and BJ Penn  Its all shite mate, it all stems from Mike Chiapetta's awful article the other day saying that UFC should send BJ Penn over to Strikeforce - it really is dire reading. METAL ON METAL
The heavyweights of Strikeforce are already moving over to the UFC, Lavar Johnson vs. Joey Beltran has been added to the UFC on Fox 2 show. jimufctna24
With the additions of Barnett, Cormier, Werdum and Del Rosario and others. The UFC may have the strongest heavyweight roster of all time, even stronger than Pride in 2005 and 2006 at its peak. Â Really exciting times for Heavyweight MMA/UFC, the big guys have traditionally drawn big in boxing aside from this generation with the Klitchskos in the States, despite drawing in Europe. UFC having a decent and stacked Heavyweight division will help them tremedously with the casual audience. Â The Tim Sylvias of the world are thankfully a dieing breed in the UFC, sloths who have little to no technical or atheltic ability and are embarassing to watch for many. So is freakshow MMA which was a big part of Japanese Heavyweight MMA even in its pomp, which I dont actually think is a bad thing for the sport as it would be a hinderence in making MMA be taken seriously by the mainstream in America. I was asking for this type of fight in one of the threads the other day. Guys like Lavar, Del Rosario, Griggs and a few others might not be at that upper level but there's some really fun fights they can make with them. Stick any of them in with a Beltran, Pat Barry, Meathead or Struve and you're looking at a good HW scrap.  Lavar vs Beltran should be a real wild brawl and like you say, most likely end in a KO.
