Crazy story:

The Culinary Union of New York (headed by...you guessed it, the same family who constantly make sure MMA fails in NY) have 'requested' that the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) launch a formal investigation into whether business practices by Zuffa (owner of the UFC) violate U.S. antitrust laws.

The full letter sent by them can be viewed HERE.

Culinary Union have absolutely no leg to stand on and this all just smells of sour grapes.

just watched Titan Fighting 20. Another solid little card (all of last weekend's MMA was stellar outside of the UFC show).

* Varner/Cochrane was a great fight. I've always disliked Jamie Varner but he's the kinda guy i like to see fight cause i want to see him lose. He lost big here! he was totally outclassed by Dakota Cochrane. Varner probably thought the small time shows would be easy money until the inevitable UFC call but this was a rough night, he got busted up pretty bad on route to a unaminous decision loss. Cochrane looks the real deal, great stand up, solid wrestling and he seemed savvy enough to stay in good position on the ground. Huge setback for Varner who said if he lost this there's no point in him fighting anymore, not sure where he goes?

Fights like this where an underdog beats a name usually ends up going up to the big show so i expect Cochrane to get a UFC call pretty soon.

* Rogers/Sanchez...another bad night for the 'name'. I always had a feeling Rogers was nowhere near the level Strikeforce promoted him at. To be fair he grasped his chance and ran with it, but the harsh reality set in against Sanchez, he just just aint that good. Considering Rogers has showed some vicious KO power in the past he looked intimidated by Sanchez stand-up and really wanted no part of it. Rogers offence basically amounted to pressing Sanchez against the cage and not doing much (other than a takedown at the end of round 3). Rogers looked in decent shape too. Eddie Sanchez on the other hand looked much improved! good gas, great leg kicks and that kind of fearless approach he's adopted that always makes him fun to watch. Sanchez could be a fight away from a UFC re-call...hopefully to banish the memory of being that guy that backpeddaled all night against Crocop.

oh it's worth seeing this for the Andrew Whitney/Laramie Shaffer flying knee finish, boink!

Yeah man 136 is a crazy card. It's not been getting a lot of talk really but it's one of the strongest line ups this year on paper. Garcia/Phan 2 deserved main card spot or at least Spike prelims.

The Spike prelims are probably the best they've ever had. Either of them could easily headline a Fight Night or Versus card.
