No-one misunderstands the circumstances. No-one has tried to justify the crime one bit. It's fucking horrendous, it was then and it is now. I had to look away from the news on TV last night because that CCTV footage still haunts me.

 

The fact still remains that they were children. As Moj points out, 10 year olds believe in Santa Clause so it's not difficult to see how such a shallow mind could be corrupted enough to perform such a hideous crime. My question is still "How the hell were they allowed to develop into such animals?". I haven't read one single good response to that yet.

 

Heard on the radio this morning that there was a similar crime in Norway not long after. A 5 year old girl was battered to death by three boys even younger than these two and they tried to bury the body in the Snow. They were back at school within the month. I wonder where they are now?

Rick your quite right that they must have been corrupted and you can only point at the people that looked after them. However once they have set down that path IMO there is no way back for them. Do i feel sorry for them? In part for the people that failed to spot the problems that where growing in the boys. As adults they have been given a life they took and for that i dont agree. Should they have been hanged? probably the murder was about as brutal as it could get and was clearly planned. However that rases the issue of killing a child. Which in turn makes another point. Keep them locked up until 20? then kill them?

 

Shady area. One thing is clear justice was not carried out in the 8 years they spent playing games all day. As adults they should atleast be forced to explain the actions they carried out and live with the names they where born with not least so people can know whos living next to them, dating their daughter, or worse still baby sitting the kids.

 

As for Norway i have not read or seen any of report so i cant judge.

 

Im sure lots of people have had worse upbringing than these two and have not turned into baby killers.

 

Ok let me attempt a more reasoned response.

As many have pointed out, the full background to these kids has not been released, to my knowledge. Suffice to say via upbringing or nature these 10 year old children either didn't know the difference between right and wrong or simply didn't care.

I'd say at that point there's something seriously wrong with them.

The concept of justice as a punishment to accurately reflect the crime (an eye for an eye being the best description) doesn't really represent justice, it represents revenge. The crimes these children commited were abhorrant, so abhorrant the urge to see them tortured and killed is a manifestation of the disgust you feel when hearing of the crimes - they are so distressing you need someone to blame, an outlet for the anger and revulsion you feel.

But that doesn't make it right, whatever fucked up thing these people are, murdering them helps nothing. It doesn't act as a deterrent to other insane 10 year olds, by their nature they're insane and fucked up.

It just means society itself is also in the business of killing children, or even adults.

 

Now I could go along with the idea that when something does something this wrong they can never be released, but the need to kill is revenge, and revenge is natural. But it's not justice.

I will say thats another top post however i put the point across that never releasing people is just a waste of money? but given the choice of them serving an 8 year hoilday camp or natural life i would opt for the 2nd, probably help fund it too.

Care workers have felt sufficiently confident to take Thompson on a series of trips to see Manchester United play at Old Trafford, to the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford upon Avon and to shopping malls such as the Trafford Centre in Manchester and Sheffield's Meadowhall. Thompson has also progressed well in his education. He now has five GCSEs, A-levels and a special interest in design and use of textiles. Amazingly, for a special assignment he made a wedding dress.

 

Much of the progress may be due to his mother, Ann, who was vilified as a failure and a drunkard at the time of the murder.

 

Despite having five other children, she has followed her son around the country as he has moved from home to home. As she cannot drive she has found homes close to him and is usually there to meet him after lessons end at 3pm, often with food he likes.

 

Venables too has apparently done well. He has six GCSEs, with good grades, A-levels, and he reads and writes well. Though once he was overweight from boredom eating he is now fitter. Part of the preparation for life outside the homes includes physical conditioning.

 

His parents have visited him regularly and he has been taken on 'socialising' trips: to pubs, to play five-a-side football and to go on outdoor activities days such as abseiling and white water rafting. On one occasion when he was identified by a member of the public while out shopping he was terrified and moved quickly to another unit.

 

What a total joke of "JUSTICE" Looks like they had a whale of a time while serving the sentance.

James Bulger's killer Jon Venables was sent back to jail on suspicion of child porn offences, the Sunday Mirror can reveal.

 

The reason for Venables' recall was kept secret by the Government but we can exclusively reveal that probation chiefs revoked his licence once the allegations had been made.

 

Venables, 27, has been in constant rehabilitation for torturing James to death. But if he has committed offences involving child porn while being supervised by probation officers the revelation will send shockwaves through the criminal justice system and will also raise questions about the virtually unprecedented rights and privileges he has enjoyed since he has been released.

 

James's mother Denise publicly warned that Venables and Robert Thompson, both aged 10 when they murdered two-year-old James on Merseyside in 1993, would go on to commit other offences if released.

 

The boys were never properly questioned about whether there was a sexual motive in the killing as they became hysterical when the subject was brought up, but police were concerned that sexual abuse may have been committed.

 

The pair were found guilty of murder in November 1993 with a recommendation they serve at least eight years, which was later increased on appeal to 17 years.

 

It was reduced to eight by the European Court, which ruled that the two boys had suffered "inhuman and degrading treatment in an adult court". They were released under new identities in 2001. Justice Secretary Jack Straw said yesterday that the claims against Venables were "extremely serious" but refused to say what they were.

 

Venables is understood to have been masking severe psychological problems by abusing drugs and alcohol on a daily basis.

 

Probation officers became particularly concerned when they discovered that he was publicly revealing his identity. But it was only when he was suspected of child porn offences that the decision was taken to jail him again. All prisoners on licence can be recalled to prison if suspected of breaching a "good behaviour" rule.

 

The Sunday Mirror knows which prison Venables is being held in but cannot report it.

 

Mr Straw said yesterday: "I said on Wednesday that I was unable to give further details of the reasons for Jon Venables' return to custody, because it was not in the public interest to do so.

 

"That view was shared by the police and the DPP. We all feared a premature disclosure of information would undermine the integrity of the criminal justice process.

 

"Our motivation throughout has been solely to ensure that some extremely serious allegations are properly investigated and that justice is done. No one in this country would want anything other. That is what the authorities remain determined to do."

 

Venables will appear before a parole board hearing within 28 days. He could also be charged with the alleged offence and face a criminal trial.

 

Even if the child porn allegations are BS imo he should have been recalled sooner based on the drug abuse alone and if he is found guilty of a serious offence be it child porn or something else then his new idetity should be null and void imo.

Jack Straw was meant to have said serious sexual offences yesterday (by that, I read alledged rape) the tabloids have already been fucked over for the hysteria they caused for the McCanns, its the same principle different person.

 

 

It may well be that it is Child Porn or whatever, but if this is a new charge and for example their needs to be a new trial ( Im not sure how the license/new crime thing works) Then surely picking a Jury that has no idea of the person or the case and isnt predujiced by it is going to be nigh on impossible?

I believe it was actually unpaid parking-fines.

 

Much like Nailz back in the 90s, he was just popping into a florists to get his sick mother some flowers. He mistakenly parked on a double-yellow and was given a ticket. Unfortunately the wind picked-up and blew the ticket away.

The Sunday Mirror's stablemate, The Daily Mirror, 'reported' during the week that Venables was back in prison following a fight with a work colleague.

 

To put it into context, I'd reckon that The Sun is a more reputable source for news than the Mirror Group, and that's saying something.
