Paid Members Egg Shen Posted February 4, 2010 Paid Members Share Posted February 4, 2010 (edited) Lets discuss heavy metal  stuff gets mentioned in the 'albums listened too' thread, but i think we should have a place dedicated to the metal. Paid Members Egg Shen Posted February 4, 2010 Author Paid Members Share Posted February 4, 2010 been listening to a lot of Soulfly recently. Max Cavalera is pretty much the reason i listen to metal, i was a massive Sepultura fan back in the day. Â I completely lost interest in Soulfly though, i owned the debut and really liked Primitive, but after that i lost interest. It was around the time where i started getting into hardcore and stuff, and Soulfly didn't appeal to me (i think i got sucked into the underground thing a bit, im over that shit). Ive listened to the last 3-4 Soulfly albums briefly, but i never gave em much attention. Â Going back on the albums though, i'm fucking loving em, dunno why it's just clicking with me. Makes me wanna go back and bust out the Chaos AD and Roots, Sepultura albums. Â Any Soulfly fans?
Paid Members Snake Plissken Posted February 4, 2010 Paid Members Share Posted February 4, 2010 I was always more into Sepultura, especially after seeing them at Donnington Monsters of Rock with Pantera, Dog Eat Dog (Whatever happened to them?), Extreme?!?! and Aerosmith Headlining, if I remeber right I think Fear Factory were on the bill and Skin (Wonder what happened to all of them after the split, although I preferred their incarnation as Jagged Edge) and Biohazard (Getting the power turned off as they invited everyone onto the stage) on the second stage. Good times.

children of bodom
been listening to way to much Behemoth. their albums seem to get better and better. I am praying for a new dvd. I love live dvds with backstage stuff, its just cool seeing bands fuck about.  going to see man must die,Kataklysm and Decapitated (although its a whole new band apart from Vogg on guitars) on monday in lodon. i m really looking forward to it. never seen any of the bands before. not heard much from Kataklysm, have a few decapitated albums and have both man must die albums. I saw a youtube video of decapitated before in birmingham they sounded awesome should be a good gig.   doesn't seem to be many good gigs coming up. I only have the above gig and Machine Head,Hatebreed,Bleeding Through and Man Must Die (All Shall Perish have pulled out) Gig  alot of people seem to think metal isn't for christains. well check these guys out. they even played a gig at a church Impending Doom
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted February 4, 2010 Author Paid Members Share Posted February 4, 2010 i'm going to see Decapitated/Kataklysm tonight in Bristol. Looking forward to it, it's basically a re-incarnation of Decapitated, the band lost frontman Covan after he was seriously injured in a band van accident (drumming legend Vitek was killed in the accident ) so this was put together by Vitek's brother Vogg to help continue the Decapitated sound. Â I did manage to see Decapitated on the Organic Hallucinosis tour though, it was wicked but it was a case of the venue being so loud that the intricacies of their playing kinda got lost in the sound, haha. They are the kind of band that benefit from a real solid sound mix. Â Kataklsym are fucking great! saw them at Bloodstock in '08 and they fucking flattened the place, awesome. Can't wait to see them. Have you heard 'Inflikted' by the Cavalera Conspiracy? yeh, ive got that album. I still ain't listened to that properly either. I know it's a slight more throwback to the pre-Chaos AD Sepultura days. I'll get it on. Â I'm a fan of the new Sepultura too, although i skimmed over a few of the newer albums as well. Slacking! it's hard to believe how many albums Sepultura/Soulfly have put out since they split.

Seeing as this thread is starting to turn into a Max Cavalera love-in i have to add that the Nailbomb album Max did with Alex Newport is also fantastic! Twatters
I'm off to Metal camp this year for the first time. Although there seems to be a few too many 'power metal' and 'folk metal' bands atm. But Immortal headlining, can't wait! Still listening to Mastodon - Crack The Skye (if that counts as metal?!) more than any other album. I don't think i will ever tire of listening to it. David
I still have to say, Master Of Puppets by Metallica is by far the best album i've ever heard. That was the album that got me into metal.
Paid Members martyngnr Posted February 4, 2010 Paid Members Share Posted February 4, 2010 Mastodon - Crack The Skye (if that counts as metal?!) Yes it does. Â Let's not have this thread derailed by the stupid "that's not real metal" argument.
Merzbow
Really don't like Soulfly but Morbid Visions by Sepultura is one of my fave Death Metal albums, i wouldn't even call them a thrash band back then.

The 90s were so great. Â
