  1. I'll be going to the Glasgow date of that tour purely for Ghost. I missed my last chance to see them at Hellfest because they clashed with Tsjuder and I sure as hell wasn't going to miss that opportunity. Can't stand Gojira and The Defiled but a fiver for Ghost is more than reasonable.

  2. After having watched it a couple of times over the last week, it's clear to me now that the Wicker Man is an absolute masterpiece. The soundtrack alone should win awards. It's such a fantastic, haunting film which stays with you long after you've watched it. Of course, I'm referring to the original.

Lord Summerisle: "And the ministers fled the island never to return. What my grandfather started out of expediency, my father continued out of love. He brought me up the same way: to reverence the music, and the drama, and the rituals of the old gods; to love nature and to fear it, and to rely on it and to appease it when necessary. He brought me up--"

Sergeant Howie: "He brought you up to be a pagan!"

Lord Summerisle: "A heathen conceivably but, not I hope, an unenlightened one."

    Absolutely love it.

  3. Aye I hated GTA 4. I was a massive fan of San Andreas which is one of my favourite games of all time and so 4 was such a bitter disappointment. Basically they took away everything which had made its predecessor fun and ruined the game by making it much more realistic. I loved GTA for the batshit insanity that seemed to be going on constantly. I'm really hoping that 5 marks a return to that gameplay rather than the slow and clunky GTA 4.

  4. Really cool to see Jack Jester in there. He's brilliant in ICW up here so it's great to see him taking on these big names. I'd actually LOVE it if ICW held a King of the Deathmatches style tournament at some point. It would fit right in to the style of the promotion.

  5. I've been rewatching them all one by one. The one I always remember being the best was the 2003 one. That was a ton of fun. Ditto for 2006. I've not seen past 2007 so planning on catching up over the next couple of months. You're right though, 2001 was brilliant.

  6. I second a return to the reviews. By far the best thing about this thread and when they're the focus, it really is an excellent thread. I'll post a small observation in an attempt to get things back on track.I re-watched the 2001 King of the Deathmatches last week. It's actually a LOT better than I remember it. It's why I always loved the IWA MS tournaments. Because they always built logically over 2 nights starting from something like a thumbtack or barbed wire baseball bat match all the way up to the finals of 200 lighttube deathmatches and it really made for excellent viewing seeing the violence get more and more intense as the show went on. I'd actually say I much prefer IWA King of the Deathmatches tournaments to CZW's Tournament of Death for that reason. Although the latter still is brilliant of course, it's just a personal preference.

  7. Wodensthrone, Aura Noir, Primordial, My Dying Bride and Electric Wizard sealed it for me. Gonna be my first time at Damnation so just need to get a hotel sorted. Then it's on the train back to Glasgow for Sabaton on Sunday....Christ I'm gonna be rough on monday!

  8. Just saw Rec 3. It manages to somehow be completely unlike either of its predecessors. If you imagine it as a stand alone zombie movie it's quite enjoyable, but having it as part of the Rec series is a joke. There are a few hilarious bits though. But man, what a way to kill the scariest franchise in years.

I hated it. When characters stopped in the middle of a zombie chase to go "LOL that's why they say French girls are sluts" I turned it off. It was just a million miles away from the concept then. First twenty minutes were good.

Indeed. A couple of moments got some genuine laughs out of me though. There was a scene near the end you missed which was genuinely very funny. as well as the bride becoming a Bruce Campbell-esque badass. The main thing I object to is that it's pretty much a totally different film. Comedy horror while the others were dark and creepy. If it was called Zombie Wedding it would be a fairly entertaining stupid comedy zombie film but the fact they decided to release this under the Rec title is just baffling.

  9. Thanks for that Richie! I was looking forward to that, and as always you didn't disappoint. I can still hear the noises those punches and headbutts made.

I really love that first photo of the two guys. How absolutely badass does Mr Damage look there?

Edit: Yeah SBA, Deranged is pretty good at the deathmatch style. He took a lot of abuse from the fans in his first few years due to an incident at the 2001 IWA KOTDM where he vomited rather messily all over the place. He then competed in the 2004 tournament where he overcame the chants of "Puke! Puke! Puke!" enough to be invited back in 2005. A few months after, he entered into a tag team with Brain Damage called Vulgar Display of Power and this is where he really began to make an impression, with those 2 beating the holy fuck out of everyone who crossed their path.

  10. Watched the Australian movie, The Loved Ones tonight. Man that was good. Basically imagine the weird kid back in school finally snapping and going crazy in the vein of the Hostel films. Very enjoyable film with major character Robin McLeavy putting in a brilliant psychotic performance.

And yeah I saw Triangle a few nights ago and mentioned it a few pages back. It felt like my brain was dribbling through my nose, but in a good way.

  11. Agree about the look. From appearances alone I legit thought he looked like the hardest man in wrestling. If you had to have someone to back you up in a fight, he would be a fantastic choice. Jim Fannin always called him a Terminator and I'd be inclined to agree with that analysis.

  12. Details seem sketchy right now but it seems that Brain Damage has died, confirmed on a few wrestlers' facebooks. Absolutely gutted. He was one of my very favourite deathmatch guys and back in 2006, before he gained a lot of weight, he looked like an absolute badass. His match with Deranged at KOTDM was a total war. RIP Damage :(

Edit: Appears to be a suicide.

  13. Watched Triangle tonight at the behest of a few people on here who were praising it in another thread. To be honest, at the moment I don't really even know how to describe it besides: mind fuck. An absolute mind fuck. I don't really want to describe the plot too much (one as it's pretty complex, and two, more importantly. to attempt to describe the film would take a great deal away from its impact) but I can't even tell how much I enjoyed it yet. Interested to see how it will hold up in a rewatch in a month or so. It's certainly a very interesting film, so definitely worth a watch, although some things didn't seem explained at all and left me quite confused. Check it out guys.

Edit: After having a think about it and having a wee read of the wiki page the ending makes a good bit more sense. The main thing I'm having trouble with now is

where did the horrendous storm and lack of wind come from?
