Why does education have to be associated with career? I'm studying English Literature, simply because I'm interested in it and want to learn as much about it as possible.

 

But libraries and Google would allow you to do that very thing for fuck all, which is considerably cheaper than many thousands of pounds. Also, learning about it for three years (or maybe another year or two with a masters, PhD etc) then stopping and going working at Asda or generic office or whatever would not be "learning as much about it as possible" anyway. University degrees are only useful for one or more of the following three purposes:

 

1. Getting a job in a related field.*

2. Dossing for three years with the loan.

3. Bragging to people that you've got a degree because you think it's still the seventies where not every cunt's got one.

 

Also, on the subject of job applications, you can lie about a degree. I think Charlie Brooker recommended this. I'm sure it wouldn't work for anything decent, but for a generijob that just wants people who have a degree in anything, it's easy to just write it on your CV.

 

Also: if Charlie brooker recommended it recently, I suspect he did it in the wake of the Yahoo CEO having to resign over making up a degree

 

 

*Many of them are not useful for this.

The fact is, a lot of companies/ jobs don't really give a flying feck what degree you did. They're interested in the result. If you do something you hate you'll probably get a worse degree. Sure, there are lots of jobs that require related degrees, but there're also a ton that don't, or else we'd all do bloody business studies.

I've now officially become one of those people who "works in politics" having actually got a job in the thing after the internship I did for BoJo ended. It's a lark, and i've been very fortunate to get there. Who you know etc.

In terms of CVs, a friend who works in one of those companies sent me a rather good skill pack on it. What people are saying on here is obviously bang on, you have to alter dependant on what they want, but it's a great little tool if you have no bloody idea where to start. Happy to send that + covering letter one to people if it would help

Been trying to get into Deus Ex: Human Revolution on the PS3 for the last couple of days, but I can't. It's really, really shit.

Nobody ever shuts up, with some inane dialogue going on for 4 or 5 minutes, and to get into 90% of rooms you need to hack the computer or read through the awkward menus and look for a password you may have picked up.

Chat, hack, chat, hack, chat, hack, rubbish shooting section, chat, chat, chat chat, hack, hack, hack. Shit.

 

Thank god I got it cheap.

 

I've had it from lovefilm for the last month or so and I'm still not sold on it. The controls feel awkward, I've got no idea what's going on and agree with most of what you posted there. I'm giving it a fair go but I've played it a few times and struggle to find motivation to go back to it.

 

Despite all it's other downfalls, the one thing that really wound me up more than anything was that you had a limit to the melee attacks you could do. For instance, in the opening warehouse section I chose the options to sneak around and kill people close combat, so they gave me a fucking revolver of all things, without about 4 bullets. Then I found out that I could only do 2 melee attacks in a set time and they had to recharge. Needless to say it went tits up from the start, and I ended up just having to blast my way through. Pointless.

Also you're all bloody wrong for not liking Deus Ex. Seriously. Wrong.

They told you how he did it throughout the episode (that's been a theme throughout) and they like leaving little puzzles for the nerds. I've got so far as "the body they buried was the body of the kidnapper from hansel and gretal, given the appropriate contusions that someone who works in a morgue would know, and the switch was made when Watson was knocked down by the cyclist, who is part of the homeless network". I'll enjoy trying to work the rest out, but it is a bit far fetched, even for this programme

It's Family Guy PMSL. This is a man who's registered on a different account (twice) to get a new start on this forum. The first him he tried to get in with the boys of the forum and posted all sorts of laddy banter to get people to like him as the Icon. This is a man who claimed he registered his new account because he didn't want to be a paid member any more (and therefore showed a fundamental misunderstanding of how paid membership works).

He is the biggest try hard in the forum. Dangerously 420 is just a dork.

I asked that a couple of weeks ago, and got no response. Something's up and I don't like it.
