  1. I'm really liking "That 90's Guy" Xavier Woods. Great fun, and his theme is amazing. Love a wrestler singing along to his own music, too. "Lost in the Woods" is a shit name for a finisher though, even for a goofy character. Either of the names Gail Kim's used for the move (Sole Food/Eat Defeat) would actually work really well for Woods, if they can get away with nicking one (I know TNA use "Eat Defeat" now, but I don't recall if "Sole Food" was a prior TNA name, or used in WWE. Get the feeling it was the former, and they just changed it on a whim). Otherwise, give it a name with a 90's TV reference.

I thought he was ok, but then his power rangers watch went off and I died. Tremendous
  2. The minute he over pronounced 'BIZZZZ-ERRRRRRRR-NESSSSSS' and said 'SPOILER ALERT', I was out. Loser
. Without wanting to state the obvious, surely that's the point of them. They're both obnoxious, think they're cool dickheads with their Internet lingo and insider terms. Complete nerds for themselves. Kazarian going "he means boners" was hilarious, as a side note

yeah I get that, but Killien saying he is the Mandarin just didn't really have any weight. It was just a throwaway line after he'd already explained his ruling from behind the scenes.

eh, I don't agree. I thought it was a great little bait and switch. We all had exactly the same thought process as Tony Stark, which was this looming ben kingsley. And then it's been that bugger Killian all along. He's got all this dragon imagery going, he's got this proper grudge, and he can go toe to toe. I loved the way it fitted together

  4. I saw Iron Man. It's a great film, but....

Really surprised and disappointed to see a great character like The Mandarin, Iron Man's arch nemesis, relegated to no more than a punch line. It a embarrassing. I mean, it was good for a cheap laugh and it served the story they were trying to tell but it just felt sour to me as a long time comic fan

That said, there's a lot to love about it. It's very much a Tony Stark movie and showcases both how brilliant a character he is and how perfect Downey Jr is in the role. His best turn as Tony for my money and if this is his last solo outing then it's a strong and fitting finale for him. He just has that perfect blend. Rhodey was much better utilised in this one too which I really enjoyed. Also highlights that Shane Black needs to direct more, he's awesome.

He wasn't. Who you *thought* the Mandarin was was a punch line, but the real Mandarin was Killian the whole time. Apart from the fact he yelled it at the end, he also had all those dragon tattoos. He's a reimagining, but they had to reimagine the character tbh

  5. The only time I can remember the WWE 'getting it' in regards to the football shirt was Santino (Last year?)

He kept peeling off club shirts and getting booed until he got to the England shirt and the crowd cheered or something along those lines.

Just through luck though. It was that time that he came out I a Chelsea shirt and king went "oh santino, you can't wear a Chelsea shirt in London!"

  6. To be fair, both 300 and Watchmen are unfair comparisons to make in this instance as he was trying to directly translate a graphic novel to film with a great deal of loyalty to the originals (one of the things that really let watchmen down, I'd say). This isn't that.

Can't talk about Sucker Punch, never saw it

  7. Edge I can certainly see fitting that (mostly because what other definitive opponents like that did edge have?) and Punk too, but Umaga? That's more than a step too far. Orton, as well as wrestling Cena 50 times, has that great i quit, hell in a cell, iron man series between the two that I remember as much from as anything

  8. All good points made in this thread, buts its Joseph Park isn't it? From his fantastic search for his brother Chris (you know, abyss), to his feud with bully ray as the ultimate bullying victim, to his use and mangling of insider terms, he was one of the best things about tna all year

  9. Worlds nicest man by a mile.

It's a shame that they're all "funny" posts rather than great insights, but there are some corkers in there

The US election post doesn't strike me as a 'funny' post, personally, but each to their own. Perhaps people just need to start nominating more 'great insight' posts in the 2013 POTY thread!

you're right, it isn't. I should say the vast majority rather than all.

  10. I'm with Loki on this un. Jericho, Benoit, Guerrero, Mysterio, Taz, RVD, Rhyno all did pretty well out of ECW. I'm aware two of those men are dead, but I don't think Heyman is particularly to blame for those two in particular.

Two dead and another three of them pretty crippled. I don't think he's any more to blame than any other promoter though.

Meh, all of those guys apart from Taz carried on wrestling for like 10 years after ECW folded.
