  1. Ah, so now I'm attacked with contradictory arguements, semantics AND ad hominems now. Well I've wasted enough time here and its not worth any further wear on my X button, but before I dust my hands off...

You're not too bright, are you Casey?

Nah, I don't think it's that. He's just dogmatic and stubborn as shit and HAS TO WIN.

    Sorry, its in my nature.

I mean seriously, remember what he was like about South Park?

    Oh FFS!

I thought you'd do that. To be clear, I'm not talking about the actual argument, I'm just saying it was over something of very little importance, rather than any of the points themselves.

I know you've said you're leaving the thread, but let's face it, we all know you'll at least read this.

  2. You're not too bright, are you Casey?

Nah, I don't think it's that. He's just dogmatic and stubborn as shit and HAS TO WIN. He speaks intelligently about other topics, training, bodybuilding, fitness etc, but if you fight him about anything he'll dig in about a stupid bloody point and throw out terrible insults mindlessly that only weaken his case. I mean seriously, remember what he was like about South Park? This is something that's actually important. It'll never end.

all my constant shooting down everyone elses long winded counter points in the space of one or two lines

    He's also delusional.

  3. Odd question, but still.

When did Al Snow make the change from the double strap full body singlet with short legs to the standard full leg pair of tights with no upper body. I assume it has something to do with Steve Blackman.

IT does. It was when he was trying to prove to blackman that he could take wrestlign seriously, so started dressing like that.

  4. Is there a website which has videos of turn of the century raws and smackdowns but doesn't use megavideo? It seems illumitux does affect the link any more

    Try hardcoretv.info

    I'll give it a go

edit: It still uses Megavideo, so that stupid bleeding limitation is still in place

  5. My mum asked me what religion doesn't do christmas.

    oh oh oh

Conversation from two of my housemates outside my room. Helen and Chris

Helen: Oh hi Chris, you look sporty, have you been out playing football?

Chris: Oh no, I've just been out with mates. We went climbing.

The next line I swear is not a joke.

Helen: Oh, really? Climbing? What's that? Is it like caving?

Me, from other side of the door: HELEN YOU FUCKING MORON.

  6. So...I've been playing Mass Effect 2 and I wanted to set aside a brief moment to talk about it. Mass Effect 1 is one of my favourite games of the past few years. It's a Bioware game, which always makes me swoon as I've yet to play a game of theirs that isn't at least very good, but it was also their first attempt at creating their own sci fi world for an rpg and more importantly, left their traditional rpg combat formula and decided to make the game a cover based shooter. What is so interesting, looking back, is how well that game was received and is held, because there's a lot of actual gameplay that's really bad. As there's no button to get into or out of cover, you can occasionally stick to it, your squad mates have a tendency to fire at enemies regardless of there being, say, a solid wall in the way and there are numerous graphical issues that dog it from the beginning. The touted "explore other planets" feature led to driving around barren landscapes with pretty much nothing on them, and to top it all off, you had to drive in the MAKO. It's difficult to find a game where driving is implemented quite so badly. No. Stop. I know there has recently been in increase in people claiming they miss the mako but those people are wrong. I played through the first game again recently to have a renegade character for the second and the mako is even worse than I remember. Absolutely terrible.

However, the story, the way the game is shot, the fully voiced aspect all let the player ignore these flaws in the gameplay because of the immersive and cinematic nature of the product. Chasing after the main antagonist, the actual moral choices (rather than just give money to a beggar or punch them) were absolutely fascinating, so the second was eagerly awaited. I am here to say that is was worth the wait, and it is absolutely fantastic.

Don't get me wrong, there are still some problems. The cover system still isn't perfectly implemented (although it is much, much better) and the complete revamp of upgrading won't be pleasant for some rpg hoarders, but it plays like a "how to make a sequel". Other developers take note, Bioware seemed to make a list of what was wrong the first game. Texture pop up: Sorted. The Mako: Gone. Clunky inventory: Gone. The decision to remove the inventory from the game is part of the streamlining effect, making everything smoother and makign the action that much more fluid. The fact that you don't have to level up guns anymore helps too, meaning that the gunning is not just a break between each carefully crafted story section but is a huge amount of tense fun in of itself. Instead of a health bar, you now have the FPStacular regen o health to go with your shield, but this works, it means you can take some risks, and on characters like say the Vanguard (who's new Sonic like charge attack where you transform into energy is AWESOME) it's the difference between fun and no fun because you don't want to die.

The story, in typical fashion, is top notch. Martin Sheen's Illusive man is a great bastard andSeth Green's Joker returns. The story is absolutely fantastic as ever, mixing the serious with the comic (seeing the Salarian doctor sing Gilbert and Sullivan is hilarious) and, unlike a lot of stories, peaks at the end in absolutely fantastic fashion. Without giving too much away, you spend a great deal of time creating this team, and as Bioware have made clear throughout the build up, the game has no problem killing or all of them (and you) off. And I mean this not just within gameplay where it makes you reload, I mean it is entirely possible for you to not be allowed to import your shepard into Mass Effect 3, because Shepard is dead. On my first play through, I lost 4 crew members, and one of them in particular caused me to slam my fist into the desk in frustration. I have never been so immersed into a final level of a game, cliff hanger endings leaving me with my hands over my mouth as I panicked. That has *never* happened to me before.

One flaw I will say is that it is simply nowhere near as good if you haven't played the first game. Various story aspects, plenty of quests and emails you receive are directly related to events in the first game, andf if you haven't played that through, you won't enjoy this as much. However, you can consider that your punishment for not playing the first game. Despite the flaws, it's really good. The second is even better, I can not wait for the third.

  7. From what i've seen of it, it simply looks as though Supremo's posting style rubs Loki the wrong way.

I'm not sure about him trying to "get one up on him", or any of the Triple H references though.

To put my neutral hat on, it's always seemed to be that Loki and Supes used to have disagreements quite a lot, and Supes never *EVER* backs down, even when the other person has stopped caring. It's never been about wins or losses, it's about the fact that Supremo seems to genuinely love arguing a point, more than most people, and after a while, Loki gets fed up and can't be bothered with that much discussion over, let's face it, wrestling. (He may very well post that all I've just said is bollocks, and I'm fully prepared to accept it is) I've never been on the other side of it, but I can see why Loki then doesn't want to deal with it all again. But I've always found Loki to be the one looking for the argument when Supes posts in a thread.

    But yeah, Dolt? No.

  8. Also, I really like Loki as a poster, but whenever Supremo is around, he pops up and starts taking shots like he is Triple H looking to get his win back after being buried a couple of years ago. Whenever he is debating with Supremo, he comes across real desperate, like he is just dying to get on up on him or something.
    This.
  9. Ian Hitmanhart. Earlier in the year, I genuinely didn't agree with anything he said, but it was *always* well argued. As the year's gone on I think he's gotten better and better. A clever wrestling poster.

Everyone in that list is a very good poster when they can be arsed, but it's clear that a lot of them mostly can;t be bothered, which is fine and understandable, but he's been consistently great

  10. I don't know how using the forum as it was intended to be used is any worse than admitting to being a troll.

When it comes to you, it's more fun laying the groundwork to watch you go into full-on "TL;DR" mode than it is to actually debate with you.

Check my various other posts in the MMA related threads. I've had quite a few discussions with other members, some of whom are a real pleasure to interact with, such as Ebb and Mikey.

You're just trying too hard Supremo.

    You're so cool.

  11. I havnt played Guns of the Patriots and checked out a few clips on youtube.
It's not even remotely comparable to the first, other than the nostalgia pops it creates. I rented it on a mates ps3, and while there was the occasional cool boss fight, it's really a fairly average game, nowhere near the quality of the first one

still even to this day i can sit and play through 'star wars - knights of the old republic' 1 and 2 quite happily enjoying how awesome they both were. i know a lot of people probably appreciate the first game more for the obviously better storyline, but playing through second game is really making me appreciate the effort gone into improving the game play aspects even if the end was crap compared to the plot twist in the first.
my favourite thing about the second one is the more subtle evil you're allowed to do. The first one is typical bioware evil, very thuggy and blatant. That said, the characters are better, because, well, it's Bioware, and they are KINGS of that. I look forward to the Old Republic eagerly
  12. Call Of Duty World At War (360) - this is my first dabble with Call Of Duty and I haven't been too overjoyed with it so far. I got it because all my mates said how good it was, but so far it just seems like a regular run and gun sort of thing (except maybe with a bit more of a tactical approach so you don't get shot to pieces within seconds). Haven't tried the multiplayer yet, I'm told that's where all the fun is to be had - I'd rather play offline and at least try to work out what I'm doing before I try to take on some actual skilled players though.
I'm surprised they told you to get World at War as the first CoD game you played. Get CoD 4: Modern Warfare, it's brilliant.
  13. I'm switching vaguely between playing Warhammer Online and Prototype. Prototype is good cathartic fun, whereas WAR is what I'm investing some real time in. Being forced to play order by a guildmate from wow that plays with me, and as annoying as it is, I'm having a blast

  14. I bought the Mega Drive Collection yesterday for my Xbox. Streets Of Rage 2 is the fucking king!!! Damn I'd forgotten how awesome it was! Can't get past Stage 6 though :(

Word. It is an incredible collection. All four original Phantasy Stars and even Streets Of Rage 3 are on it. Streets Of Rage 3! Sure the soundtrack is abbrasive and theirs nothing new in it, but it is Streets 2 on speed.

And Golden Axe 1-3. Man Panther. That is all.

It also has Ecco. They can't all be world beaters

  15. Also nearing the end of Bioshock, which I'm enjoying a lot. Just passed the "would you kindly" twist.

That's the games biggest flaw. After that awesome twist you aren't near the end, it starts to drag for a little while after this.

Nah, It's biggest flaw is that the 'moral dilemma' surrounding the Little Sisters is about as sophisticated and interesting a block of wood. Be good, game harder. Be Bad, game easier.

I don't see the game as really being about the moral dilemma though. It's more about the power of suggestion and how it "makes" you do bad things by pretending they're for good reasons.

That all passed me by to be honest. I liked the twist and all but it certainly didn't blow me away in the way that the twist in KOTOR did.

Bioshock is ok but nothing more, I find myself being unfairly harsh on it at times because the Games TM's campaign to have it installed as the greatest game ever in which everything is perfect is one of the most annoying things ever. It's a good game but it doesn't break down any barriers and in many respects is incredibly generic.

To be fair, thetwist in Kotor is completely arse-mental. In a very good way.

bioshock is an exceptional game, but moral choice systems are almost universally (with the possible exception of Mass Effect) far too simple to actually work properly.

  16. Assassin (I've taken the liberty of spelling it right for you), you understand that noone actually thinks Doug Williams is crap, right? I'll explain it to you now, in case you missed it before. (insert links to every time it's been mentioned thus far). Doug Williams was put on top of the list because if Doug Williams is on top of your list, no matter how bad it is, you get instant legitimacy because Doug is your number 1, therefore you must know what you're talking about. Noone thinks he's shit. Also, noone on the UKFF thinks everyone should love their opinion (except moj, but he's ill and has a god complex) or that this list should change the world. Its just a little bit of fun.To sum up, Doug at number 1 is a deliberate joke, noone thinks this list is a bible and if every promotion doesn't have the 49 names on this list on their black balled list then they're retarded or anything like that. It's a joke. To sum up my sum upIt's a joke.
