  1. Maybe I got lost in the emotion of it, which started when he called back to OHMSS early on in the film. Thinking back on that all he wanted to do was go off into the sunset with his new wife and hand in his licence to kill but it was cruelly torn away from him.
I don’t think it’s actually that great a Bond film but with the history of just wanting a family and retiring, and then ultimately sacrificing himself for them was, in my opinion, beautiful and a great way to sign off the Craig arc.
As mentioned by others not sure where they can go from here, I think James Bond has to be a man, and it has to be a real person as opposed to a code name, I don’t think we’ll see it returning to the days of Roger Moore, time has moved on and as someone said the audiences have been conditioned to expect different. Perhaps a Bond movie doesn’t work in the 21st century which would be a real shame.

I posted my thoughts in the general movie thread. I wasn’t a fan

I didn’t think it was an emotional send off. Literally the message was after everything the only thing that can kill bond is a load of missiles. The family for Bond was for me a stupid plot device. Remi Mallick bought nothing to the table. Ana de Armas was the best thing by a country mile. The 007 bait and switch was predictable and I didn’t think Nomi was a good 00 agent. Some nice call backs and jokes but the whole thing was just meh.

    Fair enough.
I must be banned from that thread as I can’t see it 😀

  3. So, what’s people’s thoughts? I know some reviews have said it felt too long, personally I felt the pacing was alright, but perhaps there was too much filler when there could have been a bit more focus on key series plot points.
I’ve seen this mentioned and gave to agree that Daniel Craig’s performance may be the best ever performance of Bond.

    Spoiler

I thought the ‘we have all the time if the world’ throughout was beautiful and I’ll admit I cried when the inevitable happened.

I wonder if there is going to be a reset now with Leiter, Blofeld and Bond all dying.

What I really didn’t like was the apparent lack of accountability with M. I’d expect the others to be angry with him as a large part of Bond dying was his fault

  4. Yeah the first part of my comment was daft.

This place is cool in the fact that people can have opinions and they are respected in the main without getting jumped on. In my opinion I feel some of the comments at Johnny are more argumentative than forming any discussion.

Personally I feel that if you dare speak out against things in this thread people will jump all over you for daring to not love the product, whilst ironically those same people will happily slag off the competition in other threads.

Now this might sound mad seeing as how terribly fucking shit we can be sometimes, but I can't remember the last time we played that badly, even last season under HIM.

That was just miserable from every single player. Tanganga calling Zaha a pussyhole was the sole highlight for Spurs.

Maybe they can thaw out Ledley Kings good knee for next week against Chelsea.

Would be interesting if we hadn’t lost Dier early on but anyway I was very surprised by the lack of discipline from Spurs, if Tanganga hadn’t bought down Zaha then we may have scrapped an undeserved draw as Palace didn’t really create too many clear cut chances even though they hammered us. We’ve had a stinking international break too, Skipp didn’t look fit yesterday but had to play, Son and Bergwijn also injured and how we could’ve done with Sanchez starting or Romero to come on to replace Dier. Our squad looks really thin already. We’ll have to play an u-23 team on Thursday as can’t risk anymore injuries and then we’re gonna get pumped by Chelsea next weekend too.
I bet we don’t release any players for the next South American international break.

  6. All kicking off in France. Nice VS Marseille. Payet got hit in the back with a bottle thrown from the crowd, threw it back and the fans stormed the pitch. Both sets of players doing very little to calm the situation.

I've still got a copy of souled out 97 someone taped off DSF, complete with German dub commentary and adds. I should dig it out.

The one advert I can always remember from WCW on DSF/RTL was the compaq one and it’s little jingle. Compaq…computer und mir

Top level shithousing from this horse. So you’ve whipped me and your trainer punched me and you want me to jump that fence? Let’s see how that works out for you, shall we?

I’m glad I’m not the only one that saw the coach punch the horse on the upper back leg. Very poor. I think the German woman knew from the start it was gonna be bad, she was hysterical as soon as the camera was on her.

Sorry to debunk this but various members of So Solid Crew would have that beat. I can't remember any of their rappers names but Blazin Squad somehow had 7 top 10 songs including a number 1 as well. If we are vearing of into rappers in boybands territory as well it gets worse for Barnes if you count J from Five and Tony from East 17.

Were So Solid Crew and Blazing Squad rappers? They were more like garage MC’s?

Edit - think one of them was called Kenzi and was banging Katie Price for a while

Timestamped: Has anyone ever seen this? Basically Stan Hansen gets accidentally (Japan) knocked the fuck out, and in a polite way, makes his grievance known.

That's absolutely wild! Love Terry Gordy trying to calm him down at the start and then he realises that's completely futile.

Imagine being in the crowd, proper terrifying stuff.

Yeah, Sterling not hitting one is poor form and surprised that the People’s Hero Grealish didn’t step up either.

I was half joking with my earlier comment, seeing Saka on Southgate’s shoulder like that was awful.

Southgate should look at himself with Saka tonight. Brought him on then played a style that made him look shocking. Southgate got the subs wrong but Italy were by far the better team. We shouldn’t be upset, we should continue to work hard and the results will come.
England ‘fans’ aka the yobs can fuck right off.

Apart from the fact that GSTQ is fucking shit in pretty much every way, one of the reasons I despise it being used for England is that it's one of many little messages that tells the rest of the Home Nations that England is the "default". They should just make it Jerusalem, which is a better tune, a little bit more about the people than one fucking person in an iniquitous institution, and is just as easy to belt out.

EDIT: I agree with Houchen that it's problematic, but I just don't know any other English anthems.

God save the queen is the anthem of GB and NI, just because other nations have chosen to sing a different national anthem that doesn't make it the fault of the English.

While Italy and France may have great music, 80,000 Welsh signing Land of our fathers at full voice is much much better. Flower of Scotland is a lot more atmospheric too.

Got a notification that I need to self-isolate for 10 days, immediately after planning seeing my mum this weekend.

“Sorry, no can do any more. Need to self-isolate.”
    “Yeah, whatever…”

That’s unlucky to get the full 10 days. I, along with some others from my team, got a 5 day one yesterday which is from the pub I went to after work last week. Bollocks

  14. Kasper is a great goalkeeper, but he is nowhere near the level of his dad. The saves he made last night were good, but not exactly world class. The Sterling shot was hit into his belly and the save from the Maguire header was fairly soft, and in fairness a save I'd expect most professional goalkeepers to save.

As for the best in the world? He's not even the best in the Prem. As a Spurs fan we have scored some absolute stinkers against him, when we scored 7 at Kingpower he should've saved at least 2 if not 3, last season he punched the ball in to the net which cost them Champions League football. Keepers better than Kasper: Alisson, Ederson, Mendy, Lloris, Martinez, Pope, Fabianski, possibly Pickford.

  15. Today I learned that the song on the postcode lottery 'sombodys knocking at the door, someboys ringing the bell' is a real song. It's by Paul McCartney and Wings no less! Feel a bit of a tit that I never knew that.

If that's genuinely true, then as underwhelming as Foseca's appointment would have been, this is fucking nuts.

    It is Spurs after all!

I don't remember a managerial chase being so public. I'm not sure who is leaking it or why, but my original point is wouldn't we speak to all these different managers and (possibly) make the same decisions without it being so publicised.

As someone mentioned above, why we can't attract a decent manager is a worrying issue. We have arguably the nicest stadium (probably too nice if you're an away side), and one of the best training grounds. We have some amazing players who probably don't need a great deal of coaching, and surely we must have some money that we can spend. Currently it all adds up to another nail in the Kane coffin.
