  1. I love Paddy Considine and Matt Smith, but this show is, as others have said, a bit of a bore fest.

I was looking for next weeks trailer on Youtube and found a bit with the writer talking about how they want to get everyone's backstory in before the swords start swinging later in the series. The director was also there and said she wanted to shoot this episode from the womens point of view, whatever that might mean. It just means that I didn't get to see nearly as many tits and cocks as I would have liked!

I also saw something on the same google search (so be careful if you go searching) which actually spoiled the ending of the series/show

    Spoiler

In GoT, Joffrey says to Sansa come here and see Rhaenyra who was burned alive by her brothers dragon.

Patriotism and the american flag isn't very popular with native americans in the USA. The vast majority of the population of the USA are migrants who either themselves or ancestors went there in search of a better life, many of them because Britain had invaded and pillaged their countries.

Patriotism and flag waving here has also largely been hijacked by the far right which makes it an even more difficult thing for many people including myself to identify with or support.

Furthermore the worship of a non elected head of state born into a life of obscene luxury isn't what I'd call patriotism. I think its telling that the majority of people I know who are very pro royalty/the queen are over 60 and or of a military background where it was indoctrinated into them that these people were important and should be given special treatment rather than people coming to their own conclusions.

A lot of businesses or celebrities "paying tribute" will be doing so out of fear of being given shit for not doing so.

Trevor Sinclair has had to delete his twitter, is facing the sack from his job and a barrage of racist abuse, general abuse and death threats for a tweet simply asking why should he and others mourn. Its absurd.

I cannot name you a single thing the queen has realistically done for me or anyone I know in her entire lifetime. I do remember her coming on TV wearing a £5m hat surrounded by gold whilst people were losing their livelihoods and unable to attend loved ones funerals during covid telling us all to hang on in there though.

I absolutely respect peoples wishes to mourn if they feel so inclined to do so but I do not believe its something that should be enforced on 60 million people.

The vast majority of people putting up posts on social media about it are the same ones who post about every big incident the media tells them to care about.

The Trevor Sinclair witch hunt is ridiculous, his post could be considered offensive by some but he shouldn’t be sacked for having an opinion, he could be sacked for being a convicted racist but that’s another conversation.
Do you not remember the queen sitting lonely at Phillips funeral cause of COVID? I mean you probably didn’t watch it but it happened.
Personally I feel your posts in here are no different to the shite right wingers moaning at people for caring about refugees, human rights etc. You’re assuming that people don’t care but are virtue signalling which is a bit crap IMO.

Only on a wrestling forum will you find somebody complaining about spoilers regarding the queen's passing!

He was only saying what everyone else was thinking, he looked utterly heartbroken.

Day's like today are very handy for identifying who out of your casual and work friends are normal people or not based on whether or not they put a social media post thanking a woman they've never for "all she's done" for them and/or "the country" without being able to give a single example of what exactly that was.

I appreciate that she's someone's mum, sister, gran etc. but she's also had 96 years of obscene luxury whilst she sat back and did fuck all as children in "her country" went to bed hungry mongst many other terrible things.

There's probably a lot of nice people who died alone today without fanfare that didn't spend £12m of tax payers money to prevent their son being held accountable for his alleged noncery too.

I couldn't understand how to multi-quote so I have chopped a bit of your post, hopefully it won't lose any context in this reply.

This post has really irked me since last night. To separate your friends as 'normal' or not based on their grief is really strange. I don't understand why you'd want to compartmentalise your friends based on their own grief, I mean are you going to treat the differently now you know? Whether you like it or not, the UK is a monarchy and the Queen was a huge part of people's lives. She's been a constant in people's lives, and it does undoubtedly feel very strange.

As for the bottom 2 points, you understand that the government is in charge of the country, yes it is HM Government, but the ruler is only really ceremonial now. She can't really do too much.

Has it been proven anywhere that the Queen paid £12m of taxpayer money to stop him being held accountable? I'm not talking about using their retainer or whatever it is, like actual proof that they've had this extra money out of the taxpayer? She couldn't really do too much more that she did with the nonce, she told him to go away and not be seen in public and not carry out public engagements, no parent will ever set their child truly aside and to think she won't stand behind him is shortsighted.

Nothing says swagger quite like signing a new LWB, RWB, CB and midfielder (not including back up goalie and suspended forward) and picking... exactly the same side that ended last season so well. If it ain't broke, etc. Without trying to sound disrespectful, it's a side that should comfortably beat Saints at home. The trick will be finding the balance when he wants to start Bissouma with Bentancur, Lenglet instead of one of the centre backs, Richarlison instead of anyone and try to keep the flow the same. The squad looks great but I'm not getting carried away, its 38 cup finals to improve on 4th and think about having a tilt at winning a pot without burning key players out.... we'll see.

    Agree totally,

It was a good start, and some of the football at time was very good. There are still a few things to sort though, Aribo got in very easily for his chance, which was basically a hoof from the Saints player when he was under pressure. The Ward-Prowse goal was all too familiar, giving away cheap possession, not getting into a decent defensive shape, man free on the edge of the area.

Saying that, I thought Ryan Sessegnon was excellent on Saturday, he got back when he needed to, scored, had one disallowed for offside (which was a lovely finish with his wrong foot), and was denied another by an excellent tackle by KWP. Romero clearly hasn't calmed down over the summer flying into 2 tackles specifically which he was lucky to not get a yellow for particularly the scissor tackle in the second half. He'll be the one that Lenglet replaces as he's not lasting a season without getting sent off.

I'm not sure we're going to be seeing much of Djed Spence this season. He could've come on instead of Doherty, but I'm not sure he is a Conte player at the moment.

For the fellow fantasists among you, here's the code for a new FPL league (Fantasy Premier League for the initiated) I've created for the forum. If the old one surfaces between now and Friday then we can always bin it and relocate.

Those with an active social life, look away now. All welcome to join.

    League code: 399c63

The Community Shield hasn't changed my initial draft much - despite my team name I haven't stared with Haaland for the first week, plumping instead for young Harold Kane who will hopefully victimise Southampton's defence, and our lord and saviour Gabriel Jesus of Woolwich Arsenal looks a steal at £8million looking at his pre-season form. Arsenal and Spurs players joining forces up front? Incredulous.

I've binned off all centre backs and gone for five full backs all with the potential for attacking returns. Keeping an eye on Forest's Neco Williams at 4.0 - potential enabler moving forward though it depends on if Forest can adapt to the rigours of the top flight. Very, very temped to start with a back five just because of the quality on offer. It's basically like having attacking midfields with bigger clean sheet and bonus points. Lovely.

I'm also keeping a serious eye on Newcastle - ironically despite their new-found wealth off the pitch, the player prices in FPL haven't shot up a great deal, so there's the odd differential in there that might be worth some points. Home to Forest on opening day too. I have morals, but I'm happy to check them at the door for FPL points.

Still not 100% on my 'keeper. Currently have Mendy in the sticks but tempted to switch for Ramsdale or another depending on fixtures. Mendy at 5.0 though isn't a bad price at all.

Not expecting a huge amount from the opening weekend - a lot of the big hitters are all playing away from home in some potential banana skin fixtures, so it might be that GW1 doesn't yield as many points as you'd think on paper, but that might even itself out for the following week. The prospect of Haaland terrorising Bournemouth in his home debut is tantilising.

I think the old one has reappeared. It's entered me in to the league automatically

Liz Truss is the Johnson continuity candidate so there’s a big push amongst his allies to get her into the final 2.

If she does I think she’ll win, which will be a disaster as she’s genuinely thick.

If Mordaunt pips her then to be honest went got the two least objectionable candidates through which is a good result.

I just don’t think the rank and file members will vote in a coloured candidate.  Plus Sunak is very short.

Out of interest what's wrong with the other candidates? Apart from being Tories

Incredible final day of the season. MOTD is appointment viewing tonight.

Also find it very funny that our two last games of the season practically denied Arsenal top four and relegated Burnley.

I'm actually loving it. Horrible club with horrible racist fans. Remember when their fans flew a plane trying to denounce Black Lives Matter. Mugs.

  8. Celtic fans are the absolute worst. How you can say winning the league was ‘against all odds’ is laughable. It was a travesty that you didn’t win it last year, almost to a man you have much better players than Rangers so don’t come out with that!

  9. Sasha doesn't do bad from her merch I'd bet, nor Naomi either. The amount of youngsters wearing Boss glasses, and having glowsticks is insane. Perhaps they're thinking they should be worth more because their merch is a good seller, which is a pretty shitty take on other entertainers in the company.

I don't think it's fair to make a comparison to Bret Hart 26 years ago to modern day. Firstly, Vince needed Bret then, his company was on the brink of going out of business. Outside of Brock and Roman, Vince doesn't need anyone now. His company is making so much money he evidently doesn't give 2 hoots about what his contractors think.

As for creative disagreements, yes of course that is a thing, but the nature of 'da biz' makes it almost impossible to get out of that situation, as would it in any long term contract. Danny Boyle decided he didn't want to direct Die Another Day due to creative differences, but he could go do something else as he didn't freely sign in to some long term contract agreement with the Broccoli estate.

I just think it's qwhite interesting that Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair weren't called unprofessional on air when they had their tug of war (which Charlotte won) yet Naomi and Sasha Banks were.

That was also a heat of the moment thing right? WWE had time to stew over Naomi and Sasha walking out. From what I recall they did the same with Austin 'when he took his ball home'.

Imagine if everyone that thought they were worth something more just got up and walked out. You wouldn't have anyone left. I mean if there has been some sort of comment or character assassination going on behind the scenes fair enough, if it's because they've just got the hump with how they're booked in a fictional environment that's pretty short sighted on their behalf.

  11. Unpopular opinion, but I liked Donna. She seemed more of an equal to Tennant than either Rose or Martha who were both so in love with him he was like a big old time shifting groomer.

I thought her arc was almost perfect, she was so human, she started out as some lary chav type who really learned and grew on her adventures with the doctor. She was genuinely happy to be part of it, and personally speaking her character, and Tate's performance in the Ood story was one of the best of the assistant stories in the new series. If anything she really kept the Series 4 doctor in check as he was becoming a right intolerable little so and so. Her humanity throughout was so genuine, it was nice for an assistant to not use the time game to their own advantage as Rose and Matha did. I know she eventually got a winning lottery ticket, but that was him not her. Her ending was tragically perfect with the fact that she couldn't remember all of her adventures, but she did eventually get married and then the lottery win too.
