  1. I mean you say it's embarrassing, but isn't this how most appointments are made? I.e. you ask certain interested parties and you have these discussions behind doors. For whatever reason the press are pushing this as part of their agenda to make Kane move.

There is nothing in the Sevilla article apart from the owner saying Lopetegui has used Spurs as a bargaining chip to get a new 2 year contract extension.

It makes zero sense. A quick embrace after the game means isolation, yet Andy Robertson had a video up on social media of him and Gilmour playing table tennis. Now, they may never have been less than a metre next to each other, but still.

It wasn't 15 seconds, I'm pretty sure the statement from the FA said they were together for 25 minutes. I assume this would've been after the game and is pretty poor for both sides that players can mix with another bubble so easily. As for the rules as to why the Scotland squad aren't isolating, I assume this is down to a public health Scotland decision (as Chilwell and Mount have to isolate due to PHE saying so).

It's like since you got your name changed from Rapey Eyes you thought, I'll now draw attention to myself instead by being wrong and terrible about everything.

    Well that’s not deliberate.

In my opinion, from that list of films both Godfathers are at least better than Parasite. I also enjoyed others from that list more too.

The Oscars are stupid, ranking films in lists is even stupider, but this is a fun little read.

Parasite number 2? Fucking idiots. It pins you to your seat? It’s fucking boring and the family are a bunch of horrible cunts.
Also, noticed the forums favourite word in the review of Rebecca, ‘the housekeeper stans the first Mrs De Winter’. Grim.

  5. Chelsea's management from 1993/94 up to 2000 was pretty amazing.

Glenn Hoddle, Ruud Gullit and Gianluca Vialli, all as player managers too. Amazing to see young managers (I know Glenn was at Swindon before) given a chance in the Premier League as their first job.

Someone mentioned Lombardo about being one of the youngest managers, I'm sure he was a player/manager too. You don't really see player/managers at all nowadays, even in non-league you have vastly experienced managers, or younger guys that could still play but just focus on managing.

  6. A lot of emotion coming out in this post :)

I don't think anyone can deny that ENIC have had a huge positive impact on Spurs. In the early 90's we were very close to going out of business, and they have transformed the club (not necessarily the team) in to a genuine powerhouse. We have one of the best stadiums in the world and arguably the best training facility in the world.

They have managed to finance the stadium in such a way that it won't affect the playing budget and we have another surface under the pitch to be able to make the stadium into a multi-purpose facility. If they manage to get an NFL franchise in that stadium that will be so positive for Spurs financially and the visibility of the club in foreign markets.

We also have the most popular Asian footballer playing for us. On matchdays the amount of football tourists you see at the stadium is unbelievable, and all of these guys that have just come to see Sonny will almost certainly have spent in excess of £100 in the club shop, will be buying food and drink in the stadium, and they may just become longer term supporters of the team too.

I will admit I am very disappointed at the lack of success we have under ENIC, although we have been in the Top 4 and even the top half of the league after the 90's and early 2000's. We really struck gold on some players like Bale, and Kane and I'm not sure that ENIC can be/should be given credit for this. What we can credit them with is absolutely wasting the Gareth Bale money. 8 years ago we should've bought 2 really world class players with the £100 million, but we ended up with Lamela, Soldado, Paulinho and Vlad Chiriches.

We are not really good enough to demand success, but then neither were Leicester, and for the last few years Arsenal and Man U havent been either but all of these clubs have won major trophies and it's really difficult to constantly miss out.

The year we came third in a two horse race was the time we needed to invest, but we didn't. I look at Liverpool and their situation at the time, they invested in their team and they then won the Champions League and the Premier League as well as reaching another Champions League final. Poch was adamant that we needed to strengthen, realistically we didn't need loads of players, we just needed to strengthen the squad instead we ended up with Moussa Sissoko!

The appointment of Mourinho can only be viewed as a huge mistake. From the fans point of view he never stood a chance post-Poch. I've seen Spurs fans moan about managers but the moaning about Mourinho was so loud almost immediately. Yes we spanked Burnley and Palace a couple of times. Yes we spanked a shell of a Man United team earlier this season but even when we were winning games, this season particularly, the football was atrocious. Ignoring results I cannot understand his management techniques, yes players should pull their head out of their own arses, but also the manager should not be burying players. He moans about having different players and not being able to hold on to results like his old teams did, well how about you try something different rather than the inevitable happening every week, especially when burying players constantly.

There is absolutely no way that Eric Dier has become a bad footballer overnight, same goes for Dele and Winksy. These players are good footballers who have been unfairly vilified by the fans and in the case of Alli and Winks, the manager. Where on earth is Toby? The guy plays centre back for the best national side in the world but can't play for Spurs? That cannot be a footballing decision, it has to be personal. Eric Dier is not a centre back, he is a very effective centre midfielder and him working together with Hjojberg could be a real solid wall in front of the defence. Let's not even mention how he has continually destroyed Aurier, and this season particularly Sanchez and Doherty. No wonder some players hate him, he is a right cunt.

This year we have had Kane, Bale and Son, arguably and unbiasedly that is one of the best front 3 in World football. I think I could count on one hand how many times they've played together, let alone started a game together. Obviously Spurs fans want success but we also realise that we are so far behind other clubs, what we can't accept is the negative football that has been on display for the last 18 months. I'm not saying I want to get spanked 7-2 at home by Bayern every week but I'd rather than that playing so fucking negatively and end up losing 0-1 or worse 1-2 every fucking week!

The BBC have reported that the founders will get £3.5 billion for joining up.

It's €3.5 billion which equates to about €291 million each (based on 12 teams). No wonder they want to sign up, and who can blame a businessman for trying to make as much money as possible? It's not right but these people own the club and can really do whatever they want with them.

Rumours that one of the clubs is Schalke, who have picked up 13 points from 29 games this season.

Emphasis on the super part of the super league.

I saw something, might have even been on this thread, that if the clubs are based on fan base as opposed to success, then Schalke and West Ham will be 2 of the 3 invited, and judging by West Ham fans comments they'll be more than happy as all they are moaning about is Spurs being in it. The third might have been Celtic, if not third, then they were definitely 4th on the list I saw.

Anyone tried the Body Coach app? I'm enjoying it, and more importantly, sticking to it. I'm currently on cycle (month) three, and have noticed significant changes, to weight, measurements, sleep and energy levels. I can't compare it to anything else, as it's the only regime I've stuck to, but I recommend it, so long as his voice doesn't grate too much.

How easy is it to keep to? Are the recipes easy to make?

But Spurs and Arsenal? Now I've always had a soft spot for Spurs. I've said that on here before. I used to buy the shirts, and hero worshipped players like Gazza and Klinsmann. But they have won the league twice. Everton have 9, Villa have 7. Even Sunderland have 6(same as both City and Chelsea). So barring the stadium and the Champion's League final the other year, why are they considered a part of the biggest 12 clubs in Europe?

None of these clubs are in it for their history, Spurs are a well known brand, Daniel Levy has got a dual stadium to have an NFL franchise in. COVID aside this is going to be almost nailed on with a European Super League. Levy is a very clever businessman, I love him for making us fairly sustainable, bring us Champions League football and having the possibility to expand into the hugely exciting and rich NFL market. I also hate him for sacking Poch, not spending money consistently and for treating us like a business (which ultimately it is, but I feel like I am going to be priced out of going soon).

Arsenal are a HUGE club, as Factotum said outside of Man U and Liverpool they are the next most successful team, they are also a recognised brand, they have a huge stadium and bring in massive revenues.

Isn't this just like a glorified Emirates Cup or some other shit pre season cup but with more money thrown at it? I like to think this is the UKFF's doing after the ESL financers saw Arsenal and Spurs had been sent out to their own thread and saw a money making exercise. If it happens I may yet see West Ham win a league title in my life time after all.

That's if the league carries on in it's current guise, there is absolutely no way clubs can afford for the Big 6 to leave. It will always be a tainted league if the best clubs from that country aren't in it.

  12. Just now, jazzygeofferz said:

Presumably they stay at the other clubs because they're still eligible to play in internationals and represent their country if they do, assuming FIFA manage to make good on their threats.

I don't see how FIFA can.

Firstly, players have signed contracts with a team not knowing they would be signing up for this Super League. The players won't be able to tear up these contracts, so punishing them is really severe and unfair.

Secondly, if there is a World Cup without Kane, Son, Sterling, Foden, Aguero, Messi, Ronaldo, Fernandes, Rashford, Jesus, Firmino, Allison, VVD, Trent etc. then sponsors are unlikely to want to invest huge sums of money to sponsor essentially a second rate World Cup.

  13. There is a line in the press release that really got my goat. It said something like 'the pandemic has highlighted problems with the European football model', alluding to the fact the clubs aren't making as much money. Just this year, Arsenal gave Auba a contract of £350k per week, De Bruyne probably getting the same or similar. Maybe not this year, but Ramsey supposedly on £500k a week, De Gea on £350k a week. Kane in excess of £200k per week. God knows what Chelsea and City are paying their players.

Maybe if the clubs were run within their means this wouldn't be such an issue. Real and Barca are supposedly nearly a billion in debt each, I'm sure United are in heavy debt, Inter Milan folded their Chinese club due to huge debt. It's pure greed.

  14. I don't think they will be banned though, unfortunately the premier league, FA, and above all the other 86 clubs need the 'Big 6' clubs more than the big 6 need them. I'd go as far as to say it could be 90 clubs (including Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea and City) need Man United and Liverpool more than Utd and Liverpool need everyone else. They might get chucked out of UEFA competition but what does that even mean without the biggest clubs (Bayern excepted)?

It's going to create a massive disparity between clubs within the Premier League, no team will ever be able to break the Top 4, probably even the Top 6. Can you imagine if Spurs and Arsenal start spending like the other sides, it will totally destroy who is going to win the league. I guess you'll still have the fun of relegation, but it will be nigh on impossible for a team to break the 'Big 6'.

If these teams do leave the Premier League then the TV rights are gone. I'm sure Sky and BT are already looking for loopholes of what to do if Liverpool and United are not in the league and will try to recoup money from clubs. If the Big 6 give their money back to broadcasters, so what? They've just been given €300,000,000. The other 14 wouldn't be able to function without this money. That's without the foreign TV rights, and if we're honest who on earth, outside of the UK is going to pay (enough subscribers to make it a worthwhile investment) to watch Burnley, Norwich or Brighton? The Premier League IS Manchester United, Liverpool and to a degree Arsenal and Chelsea. The Big 6 know they have the league over a barrel, the league will fold without them, FIFA will relent as they are not going to want the best players in the world to not play at a World Cup, the only ones that may stick to their guns are UEFA, but they couldn't even nail City for blatant disregard of FFP, so they'll probably fall in line too.

I know we've mentioned this on here before but bring this back.

Love that, so 90's. Teams would never let players do something like that now, particularly where players are contracted.

Wonder who would win if they had something similar now? For me Kyle Walker would be a good shout. As I no longer watch, or study as much football as I used to I don't really know many fast players outside of the Premier League.

Bale back in the day was absolutely rapid, not sure he's even the fastest at his own club now. I'd say Bergwijn is probably the quickest and even Walker chases him down fairly easily.

Salah looks speedy when he gets going, as does Rashford. Wonder if you have someone like a Docoure that might be fairly slow over a short distance but over a longer distance when he can open his legs and get his momentum going could be pretty quick (similar to Williams above)

And it was revealed at the wedding to Lashley that she had also been sleeping with Liv Morgan too. Great storytelling

Hold up? I thought Rusev was sleeping with Liv Morgan?

Liv's insertion in to that angle was so strange, it wasn't long before she was rightly back with Ruby in the Riott squad (and having a pretty decent showing at Mania)
