I’m well confused. I’ve only just clocked that Rhea took the “SmackDown Women’s Championship” to Raw with her instead of swapping belts with Belair like Lynch and Charlotte did that time. What have they been calling Mami’s belt on TV? And what will they call it now??

I'd put money and probably be wrong on them having a shiny Womens world heavyweight championship which looks quite like the men's but with a white strap waiting for her this Monday.

Your bank balance would be even healthier if you didn’t waste it on Jericho’s lip-synching

Oh he doesn't lip sync or didn't when I saw them unfortunately

Well you all knew it was coming, Fozzy will be playing Kentish Town Forum on Friday August 25th.

Not surprising. Jericho and the fozzy lads actually really like playing in the UK so I guess this is a good excuse.

Is that the one with that Sticky Sticky Stick Stick song?

Hey Duggee is full of brilliant weirdness the stick song is a wonderful example. I'm a particular fan of the stoner rabbits and effiminate crab who lives with his "friend" Nigel.

We've just taken out 18 month old to Thailand for a week and as lovely a time as we've had I'm exhausted.

Just watched Picard Season 3 in about a week.  I don't think I've ever seen such utterly blatant fan service.  Everything upon everything was a callback.  Sometimes we had callbacks within callbacks.  Even I probably missed some of the references because I was too busy noticing other references.  Almost unbelievably they also lifted the Death Star battle ending of Return of the Jedi.

    Absolute perfection.  10/10.  No notes.

Been looking for this thread, totally agree 10/10 for the ending. Even the Borg Queen comeback felt like a full star wars lift from the last one though.

If I have some notes is very minor things like not getting a scene on the bird of prey, seeing a saucer separation or Janeway being in or mentioned in the scene with Tuvok and Seven especially when she is in Prodigy.

But overall what a wonderful way to end the next gen era. I'm all for a new series aboard The G and it not being the shiny sexy new flagship makes things more interesting than if we just got the F. Also definately need to know more about what Word's been up to.

I misread that as 'wiping the seat off' and thought fair enough, one of the hazards of the bum gun.

Certainly is, in the current heat and humidity the bike seat also needs a good wipe down before and after use, honestly wish I was joking here.

I think Jericho can be an absolute dick at times, but he's also been a big part of AEW's first years and the song is clearly over as fuck. As secondary hobbies go for wrestlers, he's probably been more successful with Fozzy than he had any right to be, even if most of that is just because of his wrestling celebrity.

As a result, if he has the opportunity to play at Wembley Stadium, I think it's kind of awesome. It's an odd crossover thing to do, and after years of touring, if he and his mates get to play their song to a hugely receptive crowd at a legendary venue on the back of a company he helped build... I don't entirely get why anyone's getting sniffy at that. Even if it's a bit tragic, it's such a specific crossover with what he does, that I'm like fair fucks to him.

I'm surprised he hasn't done it sooner to be fair as Rich Ward has played in Britt Baker already.

Echo all the thoughts on the crowd. Not much I can add that hasn’t already been said.

The Bloodline story used to be unmissable, I fell asleep as The Usos made their entrance last night but to be fair to them on watching the rest of the show today they’ve brought back a bit of intrigue with Jey finally showing a bit of how he was previously after weeks of being a loser. Shouting at Solo, “he’s not your brother”, was fantastic stuff.

I don’t know how much I buy the Cody win as him coming out looking good. He’s a face who won through a bit of chance with the exposed turnbuckle and a lucky pin. Doesn’t scream that he can beat Brock Lesnar with all things equal. He’s still nicely over at least.

Pay Bad Bunny what you need to and push him to the moon.

Cody's win was good enough for me for now. Assuming he wins some form of big boy gold this year not having a full blown clear win over Brock gives opportunity for a follow up match but for now he still has some momentum.

Has anyone got any tips for flying long haul with young children?

In a few months, we will be flying over 20 hours with out 5yo and 18mo and I'm absolutely dreading the flight. We are flying with Emirates and have booked the front row of seats to allow them a little bit of floor space to play, bought some colouring books etc, but I just can't get excited at all about going, because the thought of 20 hours stuck in a seat with two young kids terrifies me.

I'm tempted to try those natural calming patches to see if they work, which are suppose to aid sleep etc. I think the 5yo will be fine watching films etc, but the 18mo is at the stage of wanting to just be everywhere. It's not only that, there's the anxiousness around other passengers being annoyed at two young kids being on the plane if they are playing up.

Planes should have an onboard soft-play to chuck them in, never mind a first class sky lounge.

I don't envy you there Nick. My son was a nightmare at 1 and we had such a hard time we decided not to visit the UK until mid 2024 because we don't want to deal with his active chaos on a long haul anytime soon. A few pieces of possible advice though.

Bring some activities he likes such as books, crayons, toys but you'll never have enough.

If he isn't addicted to a show that's downloadable get him addicted now.

Don't worry about other passengers, sounds like your sat in the kid area and if they were too stupid/shit/last minute to find an area with less kids that's on them. You and your kids have every right to be there and they are children who behave as they want normally let alone a compressed tin box

Try to time naps to be on the plane

Eat well before you fly as meals will be chaos and you might not get to eat. I had the little one asleep on me and missed my big meal.

I don't know where your going but consider a 1 or 2 day stopover if you have time in Dubai, there are some reasonable hotels surprisingly! Even if it doesn't interest you, you'll body will thank you especially when you go west to east

I'll be shocked if they sell 30k tickets.

Clearly has money to burn does TS, but won't be a good look. When Wembley is empty it looks verrrry empty and soulless.

I'd be very surprised if they are planning a set up of more than half the building. They'll either keep people low or cut off half the stadium. 30,000 would be a great number and I'd love them to do 50,000 plus. How's their coverage in mainland Europe these days? I'd be going if I was able to absolutely.

speaking of the womens trios match......trish stratus looked stunning, on many occasions i thought we might see quite a few slips, but damn did she look good.

Was she getting booed at some points, had the TV on super quiet as my son was sleeping and haven't checked back yet?

I know it's kind of common knowledge now but Michael Coles level of enthusiasm was brilliant compared to in the past. How could they have let him sit there with wooden catch phrases for years when he can still show enthusiasm for the product on his own.

    In sixth form?

Yes, being an immature group some of us were not into experimenting with drugs and not cool/attractive enough for the casual sex. So messing about with a few wrestling moves helped pass the time before smart phones were invented would you believe!

  13. Inspired by Air Raid's tale in the Mania thread I was wondering what people's schoolyard wrestling memories are.

During the height of the WWF attitude craze at school we managed to concuss one of the smaller lads in an impromptu 6 man tag. Fairly sure it was some sort of crap doomsday device that did it. Poor guy sat out for the rest of the lunch break and then during maths responded "window" to a question from the teacher. Not very proud of that one.

A year or so later a couple of mates managed to create a welt the size of a golf ball on another's head from a dropkick involving a wet floor signs.

Another time in sixth form we had the room to ourselves and my mate decide to fully sell an Irish whip crushing my lockeroom door beyond repair. No idea how I never got stung for the bill there but upon reflection I get why I didn't have many girlfriends.

Just to state again, not particularly proud of any of these incidents looking back as an adult!

They’ve got high hopes for Theory clearly, sharing screen time with Steve Austin on one Mania and John Cena at another. Assuming Cody wins, I wouldn’t at all be shocked to see Theory end up as one of his challengers, or put in the title picture regardless within the next 12 months.

@simonworden Regarding Cena and lapsed fans, I do wonder if (excusing children who grew up with Cena) most of the fans that were watching during Cena’s rise and prime were in fact mostly the kind of diehards that never actually become lapsed to begin with! Having said that… a ten year old kid watching in 2003 when Cena first started knocking on the main event door or 2005 when he first won the WWE title would be 27-31 years old today. Christ.

Exactly we're all getting on a bit and I reckon there's a fair few 27-31 year olds who might have pissed about in the playground playing Cena Vs Edge or what have you that might say "hey want to watch Mania, Cenas wrestling?"

  15. If I'm trying to promote an event and build up hype I would lamp Cena all over it as WWEs most recognisable star. I don't think any fan sees it as the biggest match on the card at this point but it might attract some lapsed viewers or casuals.

  16. Have a great trip all of you going. I'll be watching on delay in dribs and drabs as I get the time. Thought it was a week later when I'm off but happily/sadly it's this weekend so have to fit it round work and family life. Just need to prepare the toilet books so I don't accidently spoil it for myself by hopping on social media where most don't understand good spoiler etiquette

In four rings, gotta outdo WCW.

But do you have the rings flush together so on two sides the wrestlers are eliminated into another battle royal or with little gaps/spread around the arena floor ala ww3?

  18. He's a miserable tit who needs to watch some Rocky movies but wrestlings more interesting with people like him in it. If everyone is simply nice as pie, happy to be here we don't have anything to talk about.

Christopher Daniels and AJ Styles in 2001 would have less than zero part in saving WCW. 'Tearing it up' in front of a few hundred fans in high school gyms in ROH around this time surely suggests how niche they were. Again, its the opposite of 'undeniable' about how the cruisers were a part of WCW success. Not a single person was buying a PPV to watch the cruisers in WCW. They were just fun to watch during this time, but the viewers were there because they wanted to see the big stars. Im not going to spend any more time on this, as every time I see the theory its blowing my mind with how ridiculous it is.

Fair enough, I'm too old for silly forum arguments like this these days too but I definately have a different opinion on this but that's the beauty of wrestling and hypotheticals, we can all disagree, have a bit of fun and nobody will ever be right.

  20. 3 hours ago, Dai said:

With your solution, its the complete opposite of questionable with regards to how it would perform. It would have been a monumental failure. Its been over 20 years since WCW folded, and I genuinely think in all these years since, saying Christopher Daniels and AJ Styles would be the solution to keep WCW afloat may be be the worst idea thats ever been pitched.

People just saying "it needed TV" have just fallen into the web of bullshit that Bischoff and Russo have spouted in the last few decades. I havent got the figures, but Im fairly surely in 99 they lost millions of dollars, and in 2000 they lost tens of millions of dollars. Thats with a TV deal. No amount of TV money at the end is turning that around. The WCW we all think about could not possibly be saved, just check out these salaries from the year 2000, and tell me its a business that could have been saved:

    Jeff Jarrett - 500k, Hugh Morris - 250k, Kidman - 300k, Bam Bam - 400k, Disco - 280k, Shane Douglas - 300k, Lance Storm - 380k

These are not even the big names from the year, yet theyre blowing insane amount of money on them, and as that spreadsheet shows, there were tonnes of jobbers on 100k+ a year too. It was clearly an unsustainable amount of cash being spent on talent.

Thanks for the harsh 2005 forum like reply. Perhaps I didn't explain that bit well or you misunderstood. What I meant was they could have been a part of saving it. Not a big one but a part. It's undeniable part of WCWs success was the cruisers and there wasn't exactly a great division left in 2000. The names I mentione tore it up on the indies in 2002 onwards for some time. I was never saying they should be the focus or main event but perhaps...and just perhaps would have boosted some interest. As for the word questionable and how I used it, there honestly isn't a direct opposite in that context unless you have a time machine.
