Whilst maybe not as big a fall as some others mentioned

Bobby Lashley went from Successfully retaining the WWE Championship in the 1st match in front of fans for over a year at Wrestlemania 37 to being in a bit of a nothing match with Omos a year later

That's a good one. Omos is likely to be omitted from the card this year after 3 matches of a reasonably high profile (Tag with AJ, Vs Lashley, Vs Brock) so we'll have another one there.

Speaking of Brock, how about Dean Ambrose who went from taking on Brock in the disappointment of the card to being on the preshow against Corbin, yes it was for the IC title but still a massive demotion following a year with a WWE title win. That was it too, he missed the next year due to injury and the decided not to use him IIRC in 2019 as he was on his way out only to then give him the grand Shield send off a few weeks later.

  2. Not the best match and I've only got Angle's version that it was a spontaneous change to go by but his debut for "you do not boo and Olympic gold medalist" ranks up there for me. That one line with it's condescending tone set up his character for the next 5 years until he eveloved into super hard wrestler Angle

  3. Swaggers an interesting one that I've thought about before. In the end he was much better as Jericho's tough lackey in AEW than anything in WWE.

What about Rusev? Went from facing Cena and having the tank at 31 to just being in that awful match against the New Day a year later where they all got beat down by the legends.

  4. I thought the Money debut was pretty rubbish to be honest. Not so much the booking but it was the same character completely from WWE. The same motions, facial expressions etc. Nothing has been added to the character from her WWE run. The whole rehearsed entrance felt very out of place in AEW. I hope she evolves.

  5. I don't see the news the Osprey to be in the World title picture for All In. I honestly don't think doing so would shift more tickets. I'd be up for him having the main event match and it being for one of the TNT, International, Continental, Full English Breakfast title

Right. I’m going to get ribboned for this, but I don’t care. This was absolutely delicious.

Went out to a quaint little bistro for Mother’s Day brekkie and had their main offering. Sure, it’s not something Ian Beale would slide on to your table, but I want to go back and have it again.

Clockwise, it’s home-made beans, crispy bacon, a gorgeous, fat sausage*, a big plum tomato, peppered hash browns, whipped black pudding**, then in the middle some perfect scrambled eggs sat on toasted sourdough. Could have lived without the green shit.

    I can’t stop thinking about it. 9/10.

Is that red and beany looking like what comes out after you eat the underdone sausage? Whipped bloody black pudding honestly!

Hasn't been a problem for LA Knight.

I'd argue that even the Mountain Dew match was more prominent than Elias had. Shit, but more prominent.

  8. I used to think Elias has 'it', a recognizable gimmick that got the fans behind him but really nothing ever went up to that next level. I realized a while ago I couldn't think of a notable match he had in his entire run. I don't know if that is to do with injury or booking or simply him not being given any stand out TV/PPV matches.

I had (still have actually, on top of the wardrobe) that VHS box set of the first 15 Manias that Silver Vision brought out, and set myself the "challenge" of watching all 15 between Christmas and that year's Mania.

WrestleMania 2 nearly stopped that in its tracks. Took me about a week to get through it. Hadn't seen it before, never watched a second of it again.

Not that the tape would have taken a second watch anyway - Silver Vision has obviously tried to keep the price point for 15 tapes down so the quality was of some iron filings wafted vaguely near the thinnest sellotape you can imagine.

I had the tape of WM2, was given toe by a mate who didn't want it. Certainly takes some watching. The Silvervision cut is bloody awful to be fair making it a lot worse. The PPV was longer wasn't it with more promos and entrances?

Yes, I used to love the end-of-show video packages they’d do. 17 being the best one, of course. I feel like X-8 didn’t and that was one of the reasons I considered it so disappointing at the time.

Speaking of X-8, probably my favourite ever bit of wrestling merch I own is the commemorative magazine hyping up that show. The second half of the book was just photo pages of the entire roster - including my first glimpses of Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton - and the first half had two page recaps of every WrestleMania from 1-17 with photos and full match line ups. I’d never seen these early shows but I could have recited the major happenings and match order of most of them due to the number of times I read this mag. Made Mania feel so special and important.

I remember around the same time, might have only gone up to WM 16/2000 there was a big glossy coffee table book with a double page spread on each Wrestlemania for sale in Smiths and Borders, I used to read that and the WCW 2000 annual allowance the time while my mum went shopping.

  10. First Wrestlemania - 17, I got into wrestling around 16 but didn't watch the PPV. I don't think there's much to be added on that topic not said already.

Favourite WM - 24 Overlooked gem in my opinion. Good mix of matches with Edge/Taker being a cracking main event. Having the outdoor venue helped a lot as it was unique then

Worst WM - 25 and 26 simply as they werejust a long drawn match filed bores to me after how much fun I'd had watching the 08 show.

Favourite match - I'll change my answer many times today in my head but some stand outs are Triple H/Undertaker at WM27 for the awesome entrances and brutal spectacle put on. I also realised the other day how much I enjoyed Angle and Rousy Vs Triple H and Steph especially considering Hunter had to keep those 3 in check for what we got.

Worst WM match - Roman Reigns Vs Brock Lesnar at WM 34 just a pile of absolute bollocks with a stupid ending. Right when Lesnars 10 min sprints were getting very much into the overkill territory.

Best/worst moment - worst has to be the streak ending so abruptly. Best Savage/Liz maybe.

Personal best moment was watching 28 with some mates, getting drunk and my friend deciding during the Brodus Clay dance off to actually call his Mama to be met with his asleep mother answering and stuttering through his explanation that Brodus clay told him too!

Best theme - My Way hands down although the closing packages from 20 to 24 had some belters too.

Yes, it's another ECW reunion. Check out the full card if you haven't heard of it yet. It's absolutely brutal. Trigger warning: it contains Al Snow vs Shane Douglas, and that might not even crack the top three worst matches on the show! https://www.cagematch.net/?id=1&nr=370461

    I'm in for Crazy/Tajiri though.

I feel shame that if I was near Philly I'd go. Gertner Alfonso could be the best on the card

I want a WCW 2000 reunion. Give me Jung Dragons/3 Count, Norman Smiley, Disco Inferno, Tank Abbott, Crowbar, David Flair and whoever else is left. Fuck it, go wild and let Foley in for a hardcore match with Smiley and Knobbs. He can get hit with a rubber chicken, gently mind.

Wargames 3000 where there's a stair lift between each floor.

  12. In light of his passing I'm going to mention Virgil/Vincent/Shane (can't remember which name Vs Stevie Ray for control of the nWo B team. Absolutely atrocious but it's always stayed with me as being a C show feud getting a PPV match.

  13. I haven't encountered this in years to be honest. Wrestling seems a lot more accepted now for what it is. Most people seem to have memories and/or favourites to talk about from the past. Conversations usually end up joking about Randy Savage or the Warrior beingncoked uo maniacs or something

Pretty much everyone in the arena had their phones pointed at the entrance during the Waller Effect segment expecting The Rock to appear, then there was an audible groan when the segment just ended.

Good show, but I think that was only because I was there and the crowd were great throughout, if I watched on TV I'd have been disappointed. My lad kept asking me who I thought was going to win and every match was so clear cut it was ridiculous when I thought about it.

Stratton was ridiculously over, to the point that I thought the crowd were going to boo everyone in the match after she was eliminated. On the flip-side, not a single person in the arena gave a solitary fuck about Rodriguez. She has absolutely no presence at all.

It was hilarious how much people hated Dom and Logan Paul. Logan was tremendous fun taking the piss out of everyone's poses as they did their entrance.

I've always thought the theory that Nia Jax is dangerous was a little overplayed and not very fair on her, but fucking hell did I think Rhea was going to end up with a concussion during that match. I was wincing with some of the spots.

All in all, a good show to attend, poor show to watch overall. My little lad told me it was the best day of his life, so that's sealed it for me as the best event ever.

Great he has an amazing time. Do you live in Australia then? Please don't go on about it, can't stand people who drop where they live into posts all the time.

A fair show I thought, nothing exceptional but entertaining. Are they actually trolling the audience now by teasing but never explaining what happened between Cody and Rock?

I've always thought the Pat Patterson / Gerald Briscoe evening gown match was actually well worked so I'm not sure I can or should contribute to this topic.

You took my idea right there! Always got a good kick out that match. I really enjoyed the Raven/ Big Show Hardcore title match at No Way Out 2001 as well, atrocious but entertaining cluster.

  16. I can't wait for the show tonight simply because I can watch it live in the evening for once rather than at an unusual time. Did contemplate getting a flight over for it as it's only a few hours away but life's getting in the way.

Doubly so when you factor in how that Solo hoodie reveal comes from his introduction at Clash at the Castle, except this time Drew was the beneficiary. The moment after it happened was so great - the way Drew hesitated for half a second, then decided to take advantage, when previously he would definitely have gone after the Bloodline.

Can't decide if they're setting him up to take the Raw belt from Rollins at 'Mania or to challenge Cody after he definitely wins the big title. I'd be happy with either.

I expect he's going to be Rollins' challenger at this point. Probably would have been Cody's first before Punk broke himself again.

Smackdown has AJ turning heel at the moment so he could fill that role for a month or two.

  18. As I've seen this thread has popped up again I'll reiterate my disdain for Primark. It's been a year now since I had the displeasure again but was not surprised to see it's even worse than ever. Clothes looked absolute shite, what's with all the Gregg's stuff? Still smells, disorganised and unhelpful. Once again I was made to wait for the other half to spend 2 hours in there this time while entertaining our 1 year old who was freezing cold. Next visits in July so at least I can take him to the park or something while she wastes her holiday.

  19. Been to hundreds of shows in my time but have memories of most of them.

First ever was a TWA show in Bournemouth in Feb 2002 with Doug Williams, Dave Taylor (I think) and Robbie Brookside. Main even was Robbie Vs Karl Kramer in a table match.

Through Bournemouth shows from TWA, WAW, VPW and Premier I got to see some awesome talent and matches through my younger years. Best match was John Walters Vs Joel Redman at premier in 2011 I think 40 minutes long absolute blinder and no cameras. Another less fond memory was going to a VPW show and being excited Dlo, Davairi and Masters were on it only to fall horrendously ill and have to leave after 30 mins.

VPW in another instance in a backend sport hall in southampton has me sat with my friend who was a trainee and a very young Jay White which I didn't realise until he won the IWGP title.

Indy show wise I went to both PWG shows, FWA, ROH at Broxbourne and NOAHs shows all wonderful memories.

Countless London based shows, my last show in the UK for reasons I can't disclose without request was the Rev Pro show with Liger

My first WWE show didn't happen until Raw at Wembley in 06 but that was an amazing experience proper pyro entrance, live TV feel and main even of Edge, Cena and Triple H Vs the Spirit Squad.

    All happy times.

  20. I liked Rocks promo as a start, it's making it clear he's here as a heel now without giving much more away in storyline development. I can remember his transition to Hollywood Rock in 2003 didn't happen in one night, it was a transformation over a few weeks so I'm hoping the character changes develop more over the next few weeks into a more modern character and traits.
