  1. Thinking about that class Casino Gauntlet match still, with some tweaks, new name and more hoopla around it it could really be there Royal Rumble equivalent if they wanted. Do it annually. Bonkers and mad fun.
  2. The handling of Swerve on this show was pretty fucking disgraceful. A 3 minute promo would have been better than an ice cold pointless 15 minute match. I'm fine with the Tony Khan stuff as I'm fairly certain he's not going to be a regular character. Gauntlet match was absolutely loads of fun, highlighting how exciting, great and deep this roster is. Ospreay as International Champion works for me. It's too soon for him to go straight to the main event scene. The pacing of this show overall was really weird and made it hard to get into and a fair amount of it felt flat or weirdly booked.
  3. Not discounting or arguing your perfectly reasponable opinion but it's interesting how different people can view the same match. I absolutely loved this match, and my only criticism would be there wasn't enough Eddie Kingston. Though Mark Briscoe did an excellent job carrying the majority of the match - he's just so fucking great. What I really loved about this match is that the key part of the story they told was actually about holding back on the thing the fans wanted the most - Adam Copeland vs Malakai Black. They spent the whole match teasing it then backing away from it and withholding it from the audience then at the matches conclusion they finally face off Black immediately cheats to cut it short and get the victory. Proper good old school stuff. You put on an exciting match while simultaneously building up the next big match.
  4. Yeah I don't see how having one of the most entertaining, engaging and original characters on your show being the Champion can ever be a bad thing. There's a vast difference between a character being funny and a "comedy character". Toni is very funny but the difference is she's not actively trying to make the audience laugh. She plays it completely straight, which is what makes her funny and most importantly believable, and is still presented as a capable physical threat in the ring and that's what makes it work. She's quite often the best bit of any show she's on and the best acts should be in top positions with Championships. Simple as that.
  5. The main thing to me is I want to see an epic and classic Bryan Danielson singles match. Whether that's a rematch with Ospreay, Kenny Omega or a new match with Pac or Samoa Joe or Orange Cassidy or Darby Allin...to me that's the thing of most importance on this show.
  6. I think that in the history books probably the best thing AEW will be remembered for is that it's a place where top guys can finish off their careers with one last hurrah, showing total creative freedom and a wide range of opponents from all over the world. Sting, Danielson, Christian and now Copeland who seems to be on the cusp of putting out some really special stuff. I'd like this to be a usual thing, guys winding down their careers in the most fun way possible in AEW.
  7. Not sure what "seen my own arse" means but I'm totally fine with it though and was unaffected by your original post. I'd rather just keep to discussing Dynasty or AEW related things in here if that's ok?
  8. Nah, you're just taking things far too seriously. So did you actually watch Dynasty and have any thoughts on it you'd like to share and discuss or are you just here to have a moan? Anyway, I checked out Hook vs Jericho on the train this morning. It was a painful watch. Some of the work in it was pretty decent and Jericho was obviously working hard. He doesn't need to be taking mad bumps like Exploders off ring aprons through tables but obviously he wants to prove he belongs and prove is willing to bump big to get young talent over but it just isn't working. Hearing the crowd chant "Please retire"...there's not really any coming back from that in a match. Huge pop for Taz just getting out of his chair at the end, whatever else happens the roof is going to blow off the building when he (hopefully) chokes Jericho out.
  9. I don't think that's fair, she was doing excellent work at the time and the bloody nose just helped put her over the top. Becky's initial run as "the Man" briefly got me back into WWE in a big way. I had pretty much checked out by that point but she became must see TV. When they absolutely bottled it at Wrestlemania by putting on a 3 way and have her win by fluke pin instead of a clean win over Rousey I checked back out again and haven't really gone back properly since. I've no clue what her work is like these days but I don't think that's an accurate view of the original angle. You couldn't have just slotted anyone else there and had the same result.
  10. What did you think of Dynasty @Arch Stanton?
  11. I don't know who that is but he's wrong and can fuck off. As great as Ospreay/Danielson was I think it's actually Jack Perry's incredible shit-eating grin that's stayed with me the most. Think we might be on to something special here. A new Champion. The Elite firing on all cylinders. Willow on the rise. Ospreay. Hangman waiting in the aisles...things are looking very tasty at the moment, lads.
  12. What absolute joyless cunt doesn't enjoy Toni Storm? They need a shoe to the head. As for who beats her, well if Jaime Hayter is healthy anytime soon she might want revenge on the person who (storyline) injured her in the first place. Hayter vs Storm at Wembley is the dream. As for the show, I skipped Jericho/HOOK but everything else was pretty bloody perfect. Incredible show. My only complaint was them using the Dynamite set for the entrance. Breaks my heart when they do that. Just a little effort with something different for the big shows goes a long way for me.
  13. Yeah Khali is a perfectly acceptable World Champion on accounts of just being an one of a kind absolute freak of nature that can never be repeated. He was also huge in India and would be all over the papers over there so you can at least argue the logic in making him Champ as they were trying to break into the India market at the time (no idea if they did or not). I always felt bad for him later in his run where his knees were clearly absolutely fucked and they'd have him waddle out to put over the fresh up and comer of the day. Even being a legitimate giant monster you couldn't accept him as a real threat when he could barely walk. There was one time The Miz absolutely beat the shit out of him with a steel chair that I just felt sorry for the guy. As for worst Champion it's got to be a battle between Jinder and Swagger. The types of Champions were even despite being former World Champions it never feels like they actually were because they were so shit and boring.
  14. What are you talking about? He would have been playing bass for Metallica, brother.
  15. There's something about Collision where because it doesn't have the pressure of being the flagship show it just feels more relaxed and fun. It's fast becoming my favourite wrestling show. So no surprise, but last night's episode was EXCELLENT. Two really great trios matches, incredibly bonkers and fun Bunkhouse Brawl, a great squash, decent fast paced tag match, solid women's singles all interlaced with great quick promos throughout and a hot crowd - you've got a damn near perfect episode of TV wrestling. If you like wrestling at all, do yourself a favour and watch this episode with a cup of tea or bowl of cereal, relax and have a great fucking time.
  16. The MJF/Cole stuff was a fucking brilliant midcard story. Unfortunately MJF was World Champion at the time. It would've been perfect for the TNT or tag titles.
  17. He's an old hack running the same grift as every other old hack with a podcast. He knows it gets him in the clickbait headlines so he just keeps doing it. Same as Jim Cornette, Bubba Ray Dudley and the rest of those washed up old boot licking cunts.
  18. Swerve beating Joe for the title isn't good enough. He needs to beat Hangman for the title. Anything less isn't good enough. Fantasy booking time (look away now). Here's how I would very loosely book the Spring/Summer: - Hangman costs Swerve the match at Dynasty. - a few weeks later Hangman beats Joe for the title on Dynamite. Possibly Swerve fucks up and accidentally causes Joe to lose the match in the process of attempting to fuck Hangman over. - Hangman full heel Champ. Promises that Swerve will never be Champion as long as he holds the title. - Swerve in full babyface chase mode. Eventually leading up to Team Hangman vs Team Swerve in Blood and Guts in July. If Swerve's Team wins he gets a title shot at All In. If he loses then no title shot til Hangman drops the title. - you have a few weeks of them putting their teams together. Hangman makes an offer: if you join his team and help him win he'll give you a guaranteed title shot. This naturally attracts the biggest scumbags so Hanger quickly has a team of say: Jay White, Trent Baretta, Takeshita and Samoa Joe (who still also wants revenge on Swerve for costing him the title). Swerve has to put a ragtag group of babyfaces together and finds guys who are coincidentally currently feuding with everyone on Hangmans team (lets say Orange Cassidy, Darby Allin, Will Ospreay - split from the Don Callis gang by this point and a final fan favourite Mark Briscoe or Daniel Garcia or Hook). - Blood n Guts. The super friends babyface Team Swerve win. - All In is Swerve's big crowning moment. Wins the title in the main event at Wembley. - Next episode of Dynamite, Hangman wants a rematch. One last match. Swerve agrees. On one condition. TEXAS DEATH 2. - at All Out, Swerve beats Hangman to finish the story. The End.
  19. Well TNN didn't fear this satire, they just cancelled the show because they wanted Raw instead.
  20. People talk about how petty Tony Khan is. Paul Heyman basically ruined a years worth of TV with that shitty storyline just to publicly complain about the TNN executives.
  21. So the mother-in-law is comig on Sunday and I've been given the afternoon off, I want to go to the cinema. I'm currently deciding to between either Monkey Man or Civil War...what say you UKFF? I rarely get the chance to go to the cinema these days so I have to get my picks right to avoid crushing disappointment.
  22. The first 40 minutes is the build to the rest of the movie when everything kicks off so maybe keep going with it. I haven't seen it in years but I remember it being pretty fun.
  23. Mid-90s Shawn or mid 2000s Shawn? Because they would be two very different lists for me.
  24. That's what I was thinking. I'd be fine with that if the Don Callis Family had been consistently pushed as a big deal and a major threat but they've been regularly forgotten about and ignored since the summer to the point they barely feel like a faction let alone a real threat. Me personally, if they absolutely must do these annually then some kind of Team Hangman vs Team Swerve in Blood & Guts would fit the bill better. Fold in a bunch of singles feuds into one big bloody extravaganza.
