  1. Yeah the UFC have said there is no chance Holland vs Chimaev is happening this weekend they have rescheduled the fight with Edwards for January on Fight island and that is by far a much bigger fight for him so yeah it was a nice dream while it was there.

I also absolutely agree with the comment on Holland's next fight i think he absolutely deserves a bigger name after the incredible year he has had and what he did on Saturday to a guy with a decent name and skill set like Jacare.

I've also commented on the whole Olivera situation with him saying he want's the winner of Conor vs Dustin. Honestly as much as i really respect and like Olivera now after what he went in there and did to a guy like Tony Ferguson. I just do not see him getting anywhere near a name as big as Conor McGregor if indeed he does win again against Dustin next month.
I think there are too many bigger names and bigger fights already forming a fairly big que to face McGregor and as much as i do like and respect Olivera he isn't a name that will shift PPV buys and tickets like say a Nate Diaz, Jorge Masvidal, Khabbib ext. I think those trying to argue it might happen really do need to think about the guys already in line to get in there with the guy that fights once a year if were lucky right now.

I doubt it. The PPV sales in Europe likely won't come close to the US sales for a McGregor PPV.

Really? For Connor's first fight in exactly a year in a rematch against Porier??? You think sales in the US would beat the UK/IR sales for it.

Why would they have done it for Khabbib vs Justin and not do it for the top UK name in the company

  3. I was thinking about this the other night. So like we got with the Khabib vs justin PPV card over here. It was put on BT sport's box office but it also started at a really good time for us here in the uk.......

With this PPV being once again on fight island AND having Conor Mcgregor headlining surely we have to belive it will be done the same and made for an acceptable time here in the uk so the majority of Conor fans can buy the PPV and watch live. It makes sense right??

I agree to some extent but they have always been like TNA and in fairness to them they are really trying to move away from this model now. They've passed up the chance on signing Silva and Werdum already this year. Yoel is old but he is far from past it, he hasn't disgraced himself in the UFC, I think he can add something to their division.

Let's see how many of these 60+ released UFC fighters they end up signing to see if they really are trying to move away from being the TNA of MMA.

If you were in Coker's position, would you pass on Yoel?

You make a fantastic counter point mate and you know what who the fuck are we or anyone to question a fighter being let go week's before christmas and jumping at the first opportunity they get their way for decent amounts of money. Like you said we will see how many fighters get released from the UFC that end up getting offered contracts or signing with them

  5. Wow Bellator really is becoming the TNA of the MMA world aren't they.
I was having the discussion about MMA with someone on my facebook yesterday and they agreed Bellator is really hit and miss in terms of good fights and whatnot, But he also said there are other decent MMA promotions out there that aren't trying there hardest to be a UFC ripoff.

I think we will see a hell of alot of these releases that are imminently coming from the UFC end up in Bellator and i think that isn't going to help the promotion much apart from the way there doing things at the moment which is come and see X Y Z fighters just released by the biggest company in the sport fight here in our company. I also don't think it's going to help those fighters that are wanting to get back into the UFC eventually reach there goal. Go and see what other promotions are out there that will help you improve and progress as fighters instead of just following the money someone is throwing at you but can't really offer you much in the sense of those points i mentioned above.

I know some will argue against my point but Bellator really has become TNA early 00's

Simply a case of conserving energy. Its easy to sit there and say 'why isnt he finishing him off?' but if AJ put his foot on the gas again in round 4 and Pulev survived he'd be in world of shit, the fight hadn't even reached the half way stage at that point.

The middle rounds were AJ trying to recharge his batteries whilst staying as safe as possible.

"the ring is the loneliest place in the world when you are tired" is how the saying goes.

You know what that is a very fair point and i totally understand that it just seems so weird and kinda night and day when you have just finished up watching the UFC PPV. I watched this straight after watching that so it did just feel a little stop start in comparison but it's going to isn't it so i completely hold my hands up and accept they are different sports with different ideologies and styles.

  7. I've said this a few times but i'm not a fan of boxing however i watched the Tyson fight last week and i actually really fucking like AJ he comes across as such a genuine guy on stuff like a league of their own and whatnot so i watched this main event purely for the only fact i like AJ.

There is so much about boxing i don't understand or irritates me but what really confused me about this fight is just how it went and panned out.
So in the first round they were both feeling each other out and just abit hesitant to get stuck in and throw anything but i sort of understand that.
However AJ really came into his own and got good rhythm and knocked him down twice in the space of a minute before the bell went so i was all ready for the 4th round where i was convinced the bell would ring and AJ would just finish the job.......But that's not what happened. He went from looking really strong and confident to going back in his shell and not having any of that momentum or confidence he built up and had at the end of the 3rd.

From there it just seemed like neither man really was looking for the victory and apart from the funny exchange that happened in one of the rounds where the ref pulled them apart from the clinch and AJ called him a pussy quite loudly and clearly it didn't get going again till that 9th round where by that point in my opinion Pulev looked fucked and just couldn't find anything really that was doing much damage to Joshua and got knocked down again for the last time and put out of his misery.

Like i've said a few times i'm far from a fan of this sport and some of the things i don't understand or whatever could just be down to my lack of knowledge about the sport as a whole but as it's been said above if the next fight for AJ is going to be the Tyson Fury fight which is one i really am wanting to see as i love Tyson. If that fight finally gets made then i don't see it being a good night in the office for AJ.

  8. Holy shit well honestly i cannot actually belive how good this PPV turned out to be by the main event i was legit watching at the edge of my seat. Fantastic way for the UFC to end 2020 and in a way i'm almost sad next week's fight night will be the last UFC show until mid January but given the sheer amount of fucking work they have done when pretty much everyone else had rolled over and given up they absolutely deserve a decent lay off before they kick off 2021.

    Deiveson Figueiredo vs Brandon Moreno
This could very well win fight of the year it was unreal. I honestly did not expect Moreno to have a cat in hells chance against Figgy but he proved me and the world very wrong with his outstanding performance and should be incredibly proud of himself. Now this is where i'm probably going to get alot of shit but honestly i thought we were going to see a new champion get crowned when it went to the judges. I can't remember what round it was late 3rd or 4th i think but Brandon really rocked Figgy and i thought he was going to get the knock out. I think he landed more takedowns and could be argued he did slightly more damage. I'm not saying it was a robbery as the fight was that good i am not going to complain about seeing this one rolled back when they have both had time to heal and spend with their families but i thought with the point deduction Brandon had it but hell they have always said DON'T LEAVE IT IN THE HANDS OF THE JUDGES.

    Tony Ferguson vs Charles Oliveira
I don't think i'm the only person to say this but i personally think the fighter of this entire card has to go to Charles Oliveira, I mean GOOD GOD WHAT A PERFORMANCE!!! He went in there as an underdog and being totally overlooked by alot of people Tony included i think but as soon as those cage door's closed Charles turned into the fucking terminator and he put in one of the most unreal outings i've seen in a long time against such a huge name in the division. That armbar he had locked in at the end of round 1 was fucking sickening though and the position Tony's arm was in was not natural and i have 0 fucking clue how it didn't snap or tony tap but my god i think the ONLY positive thing you can say for Tony on this one was that he is a tough mother fucker but that really is the only positive thing you can say for him. He got schooled and made to look completely outclassed by Charles and i think because of that he has to be looking at a top top fight the next time we see him in there so he will be looking at potentially a unbelievable start to 2021.

    Mackenzie Dern vs Virna Jandiroba
Yeah this one like last week was the weakest fight on the main show which is going to happen. It's very very rare you will have homeruns for every single fight on the main show. That's not to say this was dull particularly it just wasn't very exciting when you weigh it up with the rest of the action. Mackenzie Dern looked really impressive however and her improvement really showed for her IMO.

    Jacare Souza vs Kevin Holland
How this fight was put on second and not swapped round with the women i will never know or understand but this fight i think had everyone's attention with Holland going in there for the 5th time this year against a genuine challenge/Accomplished veteran with real power and unreal ground game........But Holland just did not get the memo about all that and pulled out one of the most unbelievable and jaw dropping moments with his knock out to Jacare OFF HIS FUCKING BACK!!! I'm sure i wasn't the only one that got really worried for Kevin when he got taken down and Jacare had the top position and by all accounts should have been the dominant one in control but Holland pulled out a highlight real knock out and closes his year in the biggest way............OR DOES HE??? He went along and did something i genuinely wasn't expecting and he went and called out Khamzat for NEXT WEEK'S CARD.... Now honestly i don't have high hopes for this happening but fuck me would i be up for seeing it and i mean Holland would fit into the category of a fighter that is a test for Khamzat so we will have to see. Like i say i would be both surprised and i love if it gets added to the show next week but i won't hold my breath

Junior Dos Santos vs Ciryl Gane
I've never been the biggest fan of JDS but i love this sport and have a great deal of respect for him as a fighter so this fight kicking off the main card was a fantastic way to start this PPV. Once again though exactly like Jacare in the fight directly after this fight it didn't do great things for the older/veteran fighters but did everything for the new breed fighters coming up. You also have to believe that both JDS & Jacare's arses are slightly going with dana announcing that between now and early January they are doing a deep clean and letting go of 60+ fighters. Dana was asked about what he thought regarding seeing JDS fight again and should he retire and hang the gloves up and he said yes so that's never a great sign when the company your in is about to start a mass clear out but i guess we will have to see. In regards to the knock out finish by Gane i think it was a legal elbow he threw it aiming for the side of the head and JDS continued to turn away and curl up slightly so even if it did end up being illegal it wasn't thrown with the intention of being. It's never nice too see a once champion/headline name open a show and get knocked out in the first round but it really just shows how fantastic this new breed of fighters are.

    ESPN PRELIMS
    Cub Swanson vs Daniel Pineda
I thought i hadn't seen or heard from Cub in a while but forgot about his injury and recovery period so it was good too see him back in there. Honestly i would argue after watching this fight he maybe needs a little bit longer as a few of those leg kicks really seemed to give him some trouble and the guy's on commentary were talking about it. That being said it was a really impressive Knock out finish for Cub so not all is bad or negative.

    Renato Moicano vs Rafael Fiziev
I saw on the post fight presser that this one was being talked about by some on twitter as a early stoppage, Absolutely not the case in any way shape or form. Moicano got knocked into next christmas his body stiffened up as the ref jumped in, His argument with the ref about it being a bogus early stoppage might have had legs if he was able to actually get up and contest the stoppage, He tried to stand up and his legs looked like bambi on ice so yeah no argument at all really. Impressive power by Rafael.

    Billy Quarantillo vs Gavin Tucker
Man this one was so much fun!! I had no idea who either of these guy's were going into this fight i just thought i would watch the entire show including Prelims and i'm so glad i did. I just really got drawn into this one, It was really back and forth and reminded me of like a bar room scrap at times it was just relentless but so enjoyable. I scored it for Tucker also so i will be keeping my eye on him the next time he is added to a show.

A absolutely unbeliveable night of fights obviously like most big shows for the UFC it's not without it's talking points and complaints from some people but this is probably the most i've enjoyed a full PPV including prelims in a long time so yeah really strong way to wrap up the year

Sorry for the double post, but thought this was better in here.

    https://www.mmafighting.com/2020/12/9/22164921/veteran-lightweight-matt-wiman-released-from-ufc-following-brutal-slam-knockout

He's bound to still be having the headaches from that KO on Saturday night, and Matt Wiman has been giving his walking papers. For his sake I hope the UFC still look after any medical care he needs following that loss, considering it happened during a fight for them. I'd be surprised if they do that though. A shit move on the part of the UFC.

Fucking hell merry christmas from Uncle Dana and the UFC!!!! He has NOT had a good week has he, suffers one of the most brutal knock out's i've ever seen (in terms of how long he was out, the sound his head made of the mat ect ect) Then 5 days after more than likely just after he was able to write his name down again he gets his marching orders and let go.

I mean sure he's on a 3 fight loosing streak and Dana said there will be some serious cuts from now till January but Christ you can't help but feel for Matt

  10. well if ever there is a argument for a ufc ppv solely depending and relying on the main event then look no further folks!!!

You know full well that with this being headlined with Conor McGregor this will be put on box office and there is literally nothing else on this card anywhere near the calibre of this main event. As it's been said there is still time to build on this event but you have to bloody hope at the very least we get a fairly sizeable Co-main to go with it

  11. Well once again the ufc deliver what they can with all the covid pull outs and what a fucking show this ended up being good god the main card was fantastic!!!

    Jack Hermansson vs Marvin Vettori
What a fucking war this ended up being!!! I thought Vettori was going to finish it in the first round with that knock down but he seemed to stutter and didn't quite know how badly hurt he was, He should have laid it on big with the ground and pound but in a way i'm glad this didn't happen because these 2 just stood and went to war with each other. Fantastic victory for Vettori meaning he is now the first Italian in the top 5 so congrats to him on this one

Ovince Saint Preux vs Jamahal Hill
I'm a big lover for OSP so i was quite hyped to see him back in there but Hill absolutely peppered him with combinations and power shots ending it with a knock out on the feet for Hill before OSP took anymore damage. I completely agree with the ref's stoppage on this one OSP was pretty much out on his toes.

    Gabriel Benitez vs Justin Jaynes
That knee to the body was unreal you litterally saw the air leave Jaynes entire body and he folded up like an accordion for Gabriel to take the win in the first round.

    John Allan vs Roman Dolidze
Yeah this was abit of a dud for me compared to the rest of the card but 1 out of 5 is nothing to moan about on a card that had me less than excited going into it so yeah.

    Matt Wiman vs Jordan Leavitt
where the fuck do you start with this one!!! Leavitt for me for some reason is abit unlikeable with his calm cool laid back delivery in the pre-fight/post-fight promos however fucking hell that slam knock out was truly scary Wiman was out for a GOOD 7/8 minutes before he started to come round and asked what happened and where he was. Even dana said the sound was weird in the APEX tonight so when his head smashed against the canvas it made a disgusting sound that no one including Jordan Leavitt when he was watching it back post fight enjoyed or felt totally comfortable in seeing. Let's face it we watch MMA too see those brutal knock outs But this one was brutal for a entirely different reason and i'm really glad to hear he's okay and isn't badly damaged by it.

So yeah i can't believe i'm saying this but i absolutely say everyone should watch this main card it really delivered in every way.

  12. I definitely echo the statements above to a certain extent, I woke up pretty early on Sunday morning and text my best friend who was actually still up so chatting to him about it really lifted my spirits and made me laugh which in turn made me enjoy it way more than i would have just sat watching it alone. I only watched 2 fights which was the Jake Paul fight which was the weirdest boxing fight i've ever watched and will probably ever watch. There was no skill involved whatsoever it was just a case of throw punches in the hope they land......That knock out of Robinson was brutal i think he's still waking up now not knowing what his name or star sign is.

Then the main event happened and i wasn't expecting much at all but holy shit did mike Tyson suprise me in a huge way, He came out super aggressive, super fast and really pushing the action for the entire fight. I'll be honest i've never heard of Roy jones jr but i did hear his history and accolades so i expected it to be the same from his side but no, Pretty much from the opening bell he looked lost and really shocked by tyson's power and energy. I actually really ended up enjoying the entire fight and i am still shocked there wasn't a clear finish for tyson not even a knock down so Jones Jr is tough and can take a punch that is for sure.

The decision however was rediculous it wasn't a draw in anyone's eyes. I gave Tyson every single round but even if you argue to me the fact that you gave Jones Jr a couple of the rounds the end result is still the same Tyson get's the majority meaning he is still the winner. All in all i am in no hurry to see this fight be rolled back and done again HOWEVER i am absolutely interested in seeing Mike get back in there again considering how fucking good he really looked

  13. I will be downloading this as soon as i wake up and staying far away from the internet and social media till i've watched this and the ufc card.

I don't like boxing at all but out of morbid curiosity i will watch it just too see what happens

This is the second time this year Smith has been bumped from co main to main on short notice (Rakic).

The first fight remained as a 3 round fight and Smith said in an interview with Helwani it’s because they wouldn’t pay him any more to go 5 rounds.

So that makes me think that they are paying him extra this time around otherwise it would have stayed as a 3 rounder. Either that or he’s worried about being cut if he goes on a 3 fight skid so he’s trying to stay in their good graces.

he did a interview last night after the weigh in's and talks abit on his mindset and the whole situation being bumped up last minute.
Even if i don't really like him as a fighter, You can't have anything but mad respect for the guy for doing this and agreeing to go a extra 2 rounds untrained and mentally unprepared for it. If you love and respect this sport you have to take into account how draining potentially going for a extra 2 rounds/10 minutes could be for you.

  15. Bit of a kicker for smith and Clark jumping up to main event...... possibly fighting for 2 more rounds without training for it and not getting any better of a payday for it but them'z the tings you have to bare in mind in this covid era UFC card's.

Not really anything on here now that gets me excited or interested I'll watch out of necessity and routine but it's a massive blow loosing the main event the night before. I wanted my Derick Lewis fix god damn covid.

No one is going to step in 24 hours to go against Lewis. It also sucks for him going through a training camp and literally being there ready to go only to get pushed back possibly to December.

Also what card are they planning on putting this on in December. December is fucking stacked as it is you can't put a former fight night main event fight low down on a show it devalues the fighters and there product overall doing that?!

  16. I've been the same for alot of the show's over the last few weeks with me not really knowing alot of the fighters but for the most part they have ended up being pretty good and introduced me to some new exciting fighters.

The closer this gets the more nervous I'm getting for Derick, I think if he gets the win I'll scream the place down but blaydes will not go in there and stand and bang with Lewis his out of nowhere knock out power is very well known. It's been said perfectly above if blaydes does just take him down and lie on him for 5 rounds then that will piss everyone off and really hurt his future fight opportunities.

Where does blaydes go from here if he does get a decent win against Lewis and the same question reversed if Lewis takes a strong win
