  1. Wasn't a massive fan of The Batman. Good performances, but that plot is dreadful.

    Spoiler

They harp on and on about how much the city stinks of corruption, then the big twist is 'the cops and the criminals are working together!' The worlds greatest detective couldn't figure that one out?
Also, for a film so long, it doesn't half rush the ending after Riddler gets caught.

  2. I can't speak for Aleister Black's run on the main roster as I'd stopped watching by then, but I much preferred his 'dangerous kickboxer who is a bit spooky' presentation in NXT compared to his 'it's not makeup, it's a demon trying to get out' rambling incoherent nonsense Bray Wyatt-esque bollocks he's doing in AEW right now.

  3. Umma - I was quite disappointed with this. A mother-daughter horror story starring Sandra Oh, it has a lot of good individual parts (Oh is great as usual, Fivel Stewart is good, the sound design is really impressive and Dermot Mulroney is in it!) it just kind of meanders along then rushes the ending. A missed opportunity. Shame, as otherwise this could've made a really fun weird double-bill with Turning Red.

The Bubble - I quite like Judd Apatow as a director. I know his films are much too long but I always find them quite charming if not laugh out loud funny. This is an exception, and it's easily his worst. Really boring, way too many threads to care about, a completely wasted cast and not funny at all. A massive waste of time. Even worse, there's a gag at the end which basically states 'we know this film is shit' - if this is the case then do better! It does a good job of showing how daft these green-screen heavy CGI blockbusters must be to film though.

Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood - I loved this. The NASA parts are fine but everything to do with growing up, family, nostalgia for TV and films - all that stuff is just lovely. Can see this being a future comfort film for me.

X - It's absolutely fine but in no way deserving of the rave reviews that the A24 cult have been giving it (there's other film companies making/financing good stuff you know!) There's some decent gore and a few laughs to be had in it though. There's a fantastic crocodile scene in it about half-way through but it never reaches those heights again.

  4. My gammon wanker manager just said, without a shred of irony, 'Boris is a lying conniving scheaming cunt but we need someone like that running the country so that's why I voted for him'. The Tories will never be voted out because we live in a country now where people would rather stand by their vote like it's a football team and back it to the very end instead of admitting that maybe they just got it wrong.

She's a hugely important figure in indie and women's wrestling, so perfectly happy with her hopefully getting a decent payday, or even just a nice late-career pat on the back from a major promotion.

Oh yeah, I wasn't knocking it. I actually wish they'd do this thing more on Dark/Elevation, bring in a random name from the past just to give the shows a bit more variety. I loved Crowbar popping in for one week last year.

UberEats messaging 13 seconds after I just had an order delivered asking me if I'd like to order some food. An app that will only be satisfied if I'm eating 24 hours a day, every day.

They occasionally send me mad promo codes along the lines of 10% off on my next 20 orders, valid for the next 5 days.

  7. Few things I've caught up with lately;

Turning Red - Really enjoyed this. Fun and breezy, the type of thing Pixar are great at. Weirdly I've heard lots of praise for the third act but I found that to be the most generic part, but this is pretty ace overall. 4 Town are great.

The Adam Project - Just about gets by on the charm of its two leads. It's perfectly fine Friday night fodder but I've already forgotten most of it. It's got that weird mix Netflix films sometimes have where some of it looks incredible and other bits look like they were made for £2.50.

Red Rocket - I loved this. Simon Rex is as good as advertised. His Mikey Sabre is an absolute dickhead of a bloke but I still warmed to the prick. Suzanna Son is great too.

Deep Water - Not as sexy as I expected and really quite repetitive. Ana De Armas (wearing a lot of backless dresses which justifies its existence) shags around while Ben Affleck looks increasingly glum. There's the odd decent moment of tension but for the most part it's quite boring.

Fresh - Sebastian Shaw is having so much fun with this. It's a good mix of Raw and Get Out without being on their level, but I enjoyed it.

Windfall - Jesse Plemons makes an excellent dickhead and it was nice seeing Jason Segel in a different role for him. Tight little thriller, I liked it.

  8. WWE have seen a shitload of their talent get released, then go to AEW revitalised, or have had talent flat-out refuse to sign a new contract so they can jump ship to AEW. It's no surprise at all that they would treat Cody as a big star for the first couple of months, so maybe in time a few of the more disgruntled AEW talent might start to think the grass is greener on the other side.

It's a completely different situation to bringing in a DDP or Sting to shit on them after the competition has already died.

I dont know why the hype around bad bunny exists, who the hell he is, why he even has any recognition as being a rapper or a "wrestler" but nahhh that dude gets a big NO from me.

Genuinely one of the biggest music acts in the world of the last few years and the most streamed artist on Spotify for the last two years. Just because a load of UK wrestling fans haven't heard of him, doesn't mean he isn't a megastar.

No idea why a 'side' even has to be picked and why one man has to be defended over the other. Both are bellends who were out of line.

Nothing can just be 'a thing that happened' anymore. Absolutely everything needs to be dissected and analysed and lead to a massive fucking boring discourse.
