  1. Streaming services not having an English subtitles option that doesn't include all the background noise rubbish. I like to put the subtitles on late at night as my walls are paper-thin, but it doesn't mean I want to read all the 'gate creaks open' and 'melancholy music plays slowly' shit too.

I'm sure at some point they said that Page and Dark Order losing would mean he never got a shot at Omega again, but they downplayed that on Dynamite, so I'm wondering if either the first stipulation was misreported by wherever I read it, or that they've dialled it back in order to give him a shot at another point.

The stipulation was vague as fuck, to be fair. Omega just said something along the lines of "If we win the elimination match then you have to go away". They never really went in-depth beyond that, and it seems from Dynamite this week they just meant Hangman loses his #1 ranking.

He'd be a no-brainer for AEW to sign, once he get's himself in a better place mentally. He's creative, most of the time was good bell to bell, and was technically decent on the microphone(although the content it's self was questionable, but we don't know who was responsible foe the content).

Was he good bell to bell? Outside of the first Rumble match with Bryan and a few mental multi-man matches with the Shield lads, I always found him to be utterly boring in the ring.

  4. Reigns vs Cena is the only WWE feud I've been interested in in forever. 5 minutes into Cena's first promo and it's already been ruined with insider rubbish about Reigns not being over and being 'protected'. When was the last Cena feud that didn't rely on boring insider shoot promos? As good as the Cena/Punk feud was, it seems everything since has been a retread with ever diminishing returns.

  5. Not watched half as much as I'd like lately, due to Euros and Wimbledon.

The Mauritanian wasn't great. Really harrowing in parts, a strong cast all on point, yet still really quite boring. Although that is usually the case with these 'based on true events, please give us an Oscar!' type films so I shouldn't be surprised. I was much more surprised by Black Bear which is typically the kind of thing I hate but Aubrey Plaza's performance alone was enough to keep me compelled, she's excellent in this. Antebellum was a real missed opportunity. Some good ideas but none of them really executed well. Janelle Monae does good work though.

Nobody is fantastic. One of my faves of the year so far, I've watched it twice now and actually think I prefer it to any of the John Wick films. We better get a fucking sequel to this. Shiva Baby is excrutiating, in the best way. Just 80 minutes of awkwardness and embarassment, Rachel Sennott is one to keep an eye on. Wasn't that arsed about The Father - it's a fine showcase for Anthony Hopkins but 10 minutes in I felt like I'd seen everything it had to say, and by the end that feeling was justified.

A Quite Place Part II is just as good as the first, which is very good. Expands the story but without sacrificing any of the tense tightly-wound set pieces that the first did so well.

Freaky is now officially out over here so I reckon a cinema re-watch of that is in order this month.

Thing is, she got first class travel and an all expenses five star hotel and treatment for someone to get a well funny bantz photo. She did alright out of that one.

It's like people 'tricking' Nigel Farage and the like into saying silly names on Cameo, isn't it? I'm sure they're crying into their piles of money.

Wardlow looking reluctant to get in on the beat down until Jericho got involved was a nice touch.

Yeah, little details like that are something AEW does really well. Wardlow going to bump fists with Hager out of respect before Shawn Spears jumped him was a great little touch and something subtle that plants the seeds for a future Wardlow babyface turn.

  8. Robbie Savage was horrendous. I understand rooting for your country, but his commentary the entire game was akin to sitting next to some pissed up fella in the pub who hasn't got a clue.

'Keep it in the corner!' to world-class player Gareth Bale, fuck off.

  9. 'Comedy' voiceovers on TV shows. Made popular by the Come Dine with Me bloke (probably the only decent example of this), this trope is so fucking overused now.

I just popped to my Nan's and shes watching Bargain-Loving Brits In The Sun (no, me neither). Basically a series following expat Brits living in Spain. Which sounds bad enough, but after every fucking line him out of Cold Feet jumps in with an 'hilarious' quip or one-liner to take the piss out of the old girls who are likely just doing whatever the producers told them.

I only watched 10 minutes of it and I wanted to throttle him.

  10. Bloody hell, been a while since I updated this;

Bad Trip is funny as fuck for the most part but I really hated that gorilla scene to the point it almost ruined the whole movie for me. Raya And The Last Dragon was pretty fun and looked as great as you'd expect, one of Disney's stronger offerings for a while for me. If I was watching this as a kid I'd definitely have asked for a Tuk Tuk for Christmas. Palm Springs is brilliant – funny, sweet and Samberg and Milioti have insane chemisty together. One of my favourites of the year and I can't wait to double-bill this with The Map Of Tiny Perfect Things one night.

Chaos Walking is really quite bad. It's got the potential to be a half-decent generic YA sci-fi but it's hamstrung by the 'Noise' gimmick which it never manages to get right. Sound Of Metal is a terrific film. Another favourite of the year so far, I've never been a massive fan of Riz Ahmed but he is incredible here. Hopefully Paul Raci gets a lot of work off the back of this too as he's great also. Thunder Force was about as shite as you'd expect a Melissa McCarthy Netflix comedy to be.

Promising Young Woman was my first rewatch of the year to tie in with it becoming officially available, but it didn't grip me nearly as much the second time around. The short Alfred Molina scene is far and away the peak of the film. I'm absolutely gutted Love And Monsters wasn't on the big screen as it seems made to be watched in a full cinema with popcorn and the works. Dylan O'Brien is really likeable in this and it's just got a great energy to it that po-faced shite like Chaos Walking sorely lacks. Wild Mountain Thyme got negative press just from the accents in the trailer, but fuck me, give it a watch and the accents will be the last thing on your mind. It's really really stupid and badly written. After his good turn in Barb And Star, Jamie Dornan is back to his usual crap self here, although he's got a rotten script to work with to be fair.

Run is a really engrossing edge-of-the-seat thriller, the kind of thing we don't get enough of anymore. There's a million movies called Run – this is the 'girl in a wheelchair' Netflix one. At times watching this my pots had gone (trademark Malbranque). Mortal Kombat is really crap. I can't quite believe it wasn't a straight-to-DVD affair, the quality across the board is so low. Cowboys is worth watching just for the scenery alone, but outside of that it's a sweet, touching film about a father on the run with his trans son. It's only an hour and 20 too!

Things Heard And Seen, like tons of modern horror films, starts off interesting and ends up becoming a bit of a mess by the end. There's a few strands to this that just get completely dropped as the movie progresses too. Amanda Seyfried is really good, though. The Mitchells Vs The Machines is every bit as great as I'd heard. Really funny and genuinely emotional. Minari left me quite cold, to be honest, but I'm not a massive fan of these type of films that are more made up of vignettes than a proper narrative. The gran is great.

Those Who Wish Me Dead is another strong movie from Taylor Sheridan, who is on quite the roll. Great to have Angelina Jolie back on screen too, although I'd liked to have seen a bit more of the Aidan Gillen/Nicholas Hoult pairing. It's rare for me to say this but if anything, this could've done with being a little longer and fleshing out some of the backstories more. Still great, mind. I can't say the same about Without Remorse which is one of the most generic actioners I've seen in quite some time – I only watched it last week and already forgotten most of it. Michael B. Jordan really wasn't at his best here, too. Lastly, Godzilla vs Kong is the perfect example of a movie being ridiculously stupid but in a fun way that just works.
