What do prefer, Rodney, AstroTurf or Grass?

I dunno, I never smoked AstroTurf.

    Similarly;

If I got into my car at 9 in the morning, it'd take me until 2 in the afternoon to drive around my land.

Yeah, we had a car like that once.

  2. Finally caught up on last weeks Dynamite. Really enjoyable, great start to the year for them.

That Fenix/Omega match was just a super fun, crazy sprint. The rolling cutter into the snapdragon suplex and Fenix's backflip into a german both got audible 'fuckin hell!'s out of me, so mission accomplished there. The pop when somebody kicks out of the One-Winged Angel will be insane.

Not arsed at all about the Good Brothers but I am intrigued in which direction it's going. The Young Bucks look like they may be playing reluctant heels, caught in the middle but still trying to back up their old mates. That's the impression I got when they attacked Brian Pillman Jnr anyway. But surely it's only a matter of time until they embrace it and become the dickhead heels Matt Jackson in paticular was born to be. Shoutout to my dodgy download for cutting off just before Nick Jackson joined the 'too sweet' pose.

Everything else on this show was pretty strong too. The 8-man was a fine opener, Moxley was as good as ever, handsome Wardlow continues to improve, Snoop Dogg is funny as fuck and Baby Sting got some much-needed mic time. The only issue is that while I was enjoying the Shida/Abadon match, they seemed to go to the finish out of nowhere. When they have a packed show it always seems to be the womens match that suffers time-wise.

Oh, and I do like Cody, but him being the first guest on the Dynamite edition of the Waiting Room is eye-rollingly predictable.

  3. Regarding Cody being MAGA, I think he once liked a Trump tweet then when confronted about it, he said 'good spot' as if it was a mistake and went on to say he isn't a Trump guy.

Could be a genuine mistake (I'm forever liking stuff on Facebook whilst absent-mindedly scrolling) or it could be Cody realising he can't be arsed with the backlash and trying to reverse ferret. Impossible to know really, but considering he's come out a few times since saying he's not a Trump guy like in the Tweet above I'm leaning towards it being a mistake.

  4. I've been trying to put together a top 10/20 the past few weeks but I'm struggling, it's been a cracking year for films really. Parasite, The Invisible Man, Uncut Gems, A Beautiful Day In The Neighbourhood and Portrait Of A Lady On Fire would all be high up there. Really enjoyed The Gentlemen too. Trial Of The Chicago 7, Mank, Happiest Season and Uncle Frank would probably round it out.

There has been some right stinkers the past year too. I'm still angry that fucking Tenet is the last thing I watched in a cinema. She Dies Tomorrow and I'm Thinking Of Ending Things were colossal wastes of time. Downhill was probably the most boring thing I've seen all year. Vivarium was shite.

In more relevant news, this is just unbelievable. Homeless people being the absolute bottom priority again.

I'm sure it's just the foreign homeless. As a lot of people voted for Brexit so we can spend money looking after our homeless veterans, obviously.

  6. Matt Sydal is a natural heel for me. That smug spiritual third-eye bollocks doesn't lend itself to being a face at all. What I saw of his heel act in Impact was decent enough. At the moment he's one of the most boring guys in the compay, having the same exact match on Dark every week, so hopefully something changes soon.

  7. Man, that Jungle Boy entrance is gonna be over massive when they're back infront of proper crowds.

In other Dark news, they've finally got Thunder Rosa coming out of the face tunnel! That has been irrationally annoying me for far too long.

The commentary on Dark may be my favourite commentary team ever. Two mates just having a laugh but without shitting on the guys in the ring (for the most part).

The Carmella thing isn't so bad in context. They've had a fair back and forth feud. And Banks didn't really lose clean. Mella and Reginald have been trying to get one up on her for weeks now and Sasha has mostly looked strong as a babyface that keeps coming back, plus she did win their TLC match. I don't mind the tag win when it doesn't happen too often.

That's fair enough, obviously I don't know any context around the feud so may have been being overly harsh on it. It just seemed WWE overdid the 'contender pins champ in tag match' trope back when I regularly watched so seeing it here made me roll my eyes. Reginald seems like a fun addition to Carmella's gimmick.

The show was decent enough to persuade me to watch next weeks anyway, so there's that. I realised during this show just how much I've watched certain people - Owens, Zayn, Bryan - just do their thing in the ring.

It did also make me realise how much I don't miss Dolph Ziggler's promos where he pretends to be every heel he's ever watched, but you take the rough with the smooth.

  9. Decided to watch Fridays Smackers after hearing it's been decent the last month or so. I enjoyed it mostly. Kevin Owens is an absolutely cracking babyface, him battering Jey Uso in a quick match made him look the business. Glad him and Reigns is carrying on a little longer.

Of course they're still building feuds by having the challenger pin the champion in a tag match. Lazy as fuck. Happy to report that Sasha Banks is still the fittest woman in wrestling though.

After the terrible scripting and over-production, logic is still the biggest issue with this company. Fuck all matters. Sonya Deville returns months after losing a Loser Leaves WWE match and the explanation is 'Sonya has been reinstated.' Why? Why should I care next time they do this stipulaton?

I also decided to watch 205 Live for the first time in years! Who the fuck is Curt Stallion? Poundland Adam Page.

Mansoor has improved loads since I last saw him.

I’d love to see my daughters Year R class do a phonics lesson over Zoom. We had a ten minute evening Zoom call with the teacher a few months ago about helping reading. For five of those minutes my daughter got under the table, slowly rose up in front of us from the bottom of the screen pretending to wear binoculars, slowly look around and then descend down out of view again.

She's already got better material than Lee Hurst.

  11. Triple H vs Vladimir Kozlov vs Edge at Summerslam 2008 - the one which started as a singles match then Edge gets added. The HHH/Kozlov portion of this got completely shat on. As far as I remember, it was around 10 minutes of slow and plodding chain-wrestling/matwork-based shit. I think Kozlov had a bearhug on for most of it. But as a massive Hunter mark I loved it. Then Edge got involved and it descended into your bog-standard WWE multi-man mainevent.

  12. Echoing what everyone else has said but that was just a lovely, touching show from start to finish. Just a pure joyous celebration of the man's life and love he had for his family and the obvious love everybody had for him. Jericho was perfect on commentary at the start too, respectful but also giving the show some energy and making sure the commentary wasn't too sombre from the off.

Completely away from the Brodie tribute, as brilliant as it was hearing Schiavone shouting 'ITS STIIIIIING' when Sting returned, the catchphrase is starting to grate on me now. It's like when people liked Joey Styles shouting OH MY GOD the first time, then it was driven into the ground pretty quick.

I read on some NEWZ site this week that Khan loves the ITS STING call and wants Schiavone to say it everytime, so expect to hear it multiple times every week!

  13. Outside of WWE, AEW and Impact, are any other promotions available to watch on UK TV at the moment?

My mate reckons he came across a promotion that wasn't either of those three the other night while he was channel-hopping pissed up but I reckon he's talking shit.

  14. I'm with @CoreyVandal on enjoying the Survivor Series eliminations, when I was a kid I told myself that as there's so many people on the apron and so much to focus on that taking your eye off the ball and getting beat with a backslide or a clothesline is fair enough. Of course, it doesn't work half as well now when 6 and 8-man tags happen every week.

The oddest one for me when I was younger was Austin pinning Benoit at King of the Ring 2001 after Benoit had hit a suplex off the top. Of course I later found out Benoit had broke his neck but at the time it was one of the most anti-climatic finishes I could remember.

Dustin finishing people with a running bulldog at the moment is a bit weird, as is Kazarian suddenly beating people with a bog-standard inverted DDT. I do appreciate toning matches down and not every match having to end with finishers being spammed, so I don't mind it too much.

  15. Received my home test kit this morning. The first step is to register your test online at the gov.uk website. Naturally, the website doesn't work properly and every attempt to register ends in an error message.

    World-beating indeed.

  16. Add me to the self-isolation gang. Got the message a few days back then came down with a cough and tight chest last night, so currently waiting on a home test kit to arrive. Not being able to go for a run along the canal, which does wonders for my mental health, is really fucking me over.

My mam tested positive a few days back too and my dad's fairly certain he's got it. They've both got tons of underlying health issues which is my main worry. I'd kind of braced myself for my mam getting it as she's a carer for the elderly, but the timing is shitty as it meant they had to cancel seeing all their grandkids on Christmas day. This new more transmissible variant seems to be ripping through the country.

Still, I get 2 extra days off work.

19 writers. It had 19 fucking writers.

Charlie Brooker is now Vince McMahon. Sitting at the head of the table in Netflix Towers firing anybody who dares to sneeze and making everybody wait for their dinner, knowing full well the stuff he's shitting out now isn't anywhere near as good as his earlier work but earning too much money to give a shit.
