  1. First album I ever bought with my own money was Vs by Pearl Jam on cassette. The first CD albums were 'How to make friends and influence people' by Terrorvision and 'Dog Man Star' by Suede.

First single was Bluetonic by The Bluetones which was always something of a personal anthem/mantra for me until the singer got outed as a fucking danger.

  2. Since the takeover I've gotten used to Newcastle being connected to absolutely everyone as much as I've gotten used to the new owners being actual Bond Villains, but I might have hit my limit today.

We've been connected to Anthony Gordon again and it's a rumour that's picking up steam. I can't stand Gordon. He strikes me as a bloke who if he wasn't playing football would be asking his line manager if the Hobbits needed their legs. Horrid little cretin.

  3. I voted Flair's last match because it was the one that obviously fell apart the worst.

I still probably felt more disappointed in Hardy's Vs Bucks though purely because I felt like there was at least a chance they could deliver something passable.

My expectations were higher  for the Hardy's but Flair wins out for delivering a match 90% as wretched as I expected.

  4. I've said before but the way Tay Conti moves around, with her arms flopping around like a stroppy teenager who's been asked to put the bins out, really pisses me off. It's the most egregious, petty bugbear I've had in wrestling since Cody Rhodes' freakish pigeon knees.

The street fight last week was everything I dislike about pro wrestling. Four people awkwardly moving from set piece to set piece, little to no realism, dangerous spots that aren't even the finish of the match, terrible selling and goofy facial expressions ...

And all on a B show for a feud that has basically no heat or history behind it.

    Utter shit.

There's plenty of history behind it. Soho was out for about 4 months directly because of Tay Conti after being dragged into the Kingston/Jericho feud. She'd been involved with Conti for what seemed like forever in tags with Ortiz Vs Conti and Sammy and was out for weeks in kayfabe before that after getting car doored by Conti/ The JAS. That 'injury' being one of the contributing factors for the god awful Barbed Wire Everywhere match between Kingston and Jericho.

I'm not saying it was a hot feud, with 3 of the 4 participants being proper eye roll material for me, or indeed a good match, but the history of the match kind of dictated a big blow off and I'd rather it be on the B show than stinking up Dynamite.

Conti and Jay also had a consensus good match with The Bunny and Ford under the same stip, so it makes some sense that that's the blow off they'd book.

I've not seen the match, it seems like a waste of a perfectly good Willow Nightingale, but how they got there makes more sense than not blowing off the feud.

  6. I can see them flipping it to a 3 way tag with Shida being the one to bring Mercedes in and Saraya and Storm being the de-facto arrogant ex WWE heels who think they're better than AEW.

That's a decentish 6 women to have at the top of the card for your women's division for a few months. Moné and Shida feuding afterwards feels like something that everyone involved can get behind as well.

  7. I'd be less fussed about Final Countdown than I would be him bringing back Self Esteem by Offspring.

Fuck it, let's have an early 2000's Dragon revival with white trunks and 40 minutes of him and Low-Ki or Doug Williams dropping each other on their heads!

(I'm only being partially sarcastic here)

  8. Got the cured cheese Torres as well as a bag of the fried egg ones from a trendy wine bar in Didsbury. Paid £9. The wife's livid and has insisted they go in the Christmas hamper. My daughter thinks I'm a hero.

That can't be hard. Priestly is the absolute dirt worst.

Hayter is fucking great though. I saw her for the first time at a PROGRESS show, she had a good match but the audience spent the whole time taking the piss out if her ring gear. It was a frustrating experience.

When did Hayter work Progress? I know she was active with Rev Pro but I can't recall seeing her in Progress. I remember the crowd ripping into a wrestler over her arm sleeve but that was an Irish lass, Katie Harvey.

  10. Every time I see the cast of this film, I think, 'Really, them?'. Apart from the grizzled bloke from Mindhunter as Fritz. That's excellent stuff. But the guy playing David is a willowy young English guy and the dude from The Bear is playing Kerry. I imagine they'll act the shit out of this but my I'm gonna struggle with suspending my disbelief.

That said, I imagine it'll be well made, if not hideously depressing.

Can I just be the first to say that everyone needs to stop being hypocritical about oil state ownership of football teams like City and Newcastle. All billionaires are bad billionaires anyway and there’s way worse people involved in big business.  Just putting it out there, no ulterior motive.

Ignore this, I'm very slow on the uptake today!

  12. Bruno, Trippier, Pope, Schär, Botman and likely Wilson going to the World Cup isn't as many as some clubs admittedly, but I'd say injuries and fatigue to any of them arguably mess Newcastle up more than most.

I'm genuinely a bit concerned with what the club are going to do come January with them being where they are. Do they go big in the market in a bid to secure top 4 or do they remain pragmatic? Post World Cup transfer markets are usually ridiculous anyway, consider that this one is mid season and Newcastle's perceived spending power and it's a recipe for some weird sideways business.

As for do they deserve where they are? Probably Garth. They've done better than expected in the few bigger games they've had and comfortably performed in games that would have been a struggle last year. I don't expect them to finish top 4, but after this half of the season I'd say to miss out on Europe would be a disappointment. If they make it though, that's when silly season starts.

  13. I've always loved brick breaking games but I baulked at the idea of spending £25 for the new Arkanoid, despite the battle royale mode.

Instead I picked up Shatter, which basically does for Breakout what Geometry Wars did for Asteroids. It's a fun little filler when you need a break from heavier fare.

  14. Just had the Torres iberico ham crisps mentioned a page or two back. Bloody lovely although they very much remind me of the ham crisps that Aldi do over Christmas, I think it's the Simply Exquisite range (usually in a turqouisey green bag). That is to say that they're very nice but I'll be looking forward to getting twice as many delicious crisps for my hard earned currency come Yuletide!
