  1. There aren't many podcast guests in wrestling that touch Regal. He's always the best mix of candid and respectful. That new Jericho pod is one of the best episodes of anything that I've listened to in yonks.

Credit to Jericho for letting him go as well. It's not always a comfortable listen but you get the impression it was much needed catharsis for Regal.

  2. Because I've lived in Manchester for the last 22 years and there's a part of me that my wife informs me is a bit wrong, I've been able to enjoy a few left field pizzas that might apply to this topic.

One of my favourites and something I'd put in my recommendations for people to try is the Aglefino from Croma, who have a few restaurants in suburban Manchester. It's a thin pizza with a white sauce base topped with leeks, smoked haddock, Emmenthal and a fried egg. It's amazing.

When we got married we had our Wedding breakfast at a pizza place in Manchester's Northern Quarter and some of the toppings on the menu raised more than a couple of eye brows. There was a chilli steak and onion pizza, again with a white base but also grapes. There was an English Breakfast Pizza, complete with black pudding. The star of the show was the Jerk Spiced Lamb and Banana which went down an absolute storm. Everyone commented on how much they'd enjoyed stuff that they'd never put on a pizza themselves, so I'd consider that job done, although I fully expect to get ripped on here!

Funny as I considered Dan Lambert, an outsider, a breath of fresh air and a natural. While his schtick's going off a little he's paired up newer talent that opens up possibilites, and whereas Callis is brillaint I'm quite happy never seeing the Goof Bros ever, ever again.

I'm not advocating the Good Bros, but Callis should be more regularly on telly. I've been thinking for a while that I'd like Callis on the announce desk. In fact if AEW are going to insist on having JR on the call, I'd have Callis there winding him up. I loved the JR/ Heyman pair back in the day and Callis just goading JR into blowing his top is the only way I'd get any enjoyment out of Ross on commentary.

  4. Can't believe I'm advocating removing quality matches from a card but the Buy-In being quite frankly hot as fuck was a problem.

Hirsch/Stadtlander, Hook/QT and the spectacle of that bonkers six man would have made a sensational Rampage. The problem is by MJF/Punk the crowd were knackered and what should have been a molten crowd were at the point they needed their mid show nap.

Loved the show. Only Baker/Rosa disappointed marginally but it looks like it was never meant to be the climax of that story anyway.

I don't think it's a show that would change anyone's mind on AEW, but it did all the things that AEW does well, for the audience they're doing it for.

The Punk Entrance, Regal and Shane Strickland pissing cool charisma were lovely little bits of seasoning for hard core wrestling fans on a show that's essentially made by them for them.

Oh, one last thing. Why have AEW been battering us over the head with the frankly tiresome Dan Lambert when they've got Don Callis RIGHT THERE? Callis' promo on the Buy-In was just proper Pro Wrestling Carny brilliance. Sold the show and reminded everyone what a brilliant piece of shit he is.

I've got a mate who says he enjoys watching them as well because of how much fun they feel.

Dark still feels like goofy fun in a knowingly early 90's Worldwide way. Also, as mentioned Excalibur and Taz living their best lives is ace. I dunno if I'm missing stuff but it feels less like Dark has it's own storylines than it did in the Daily's Place days.

There was a genuine charm to those tapings with it's semi regular cast of misfits and no-marks that's missing for me. I liked the feeling that Dark was basically the loser kids fucking about while no one was looking.

Elevation just feels like a rote C show now. Schiavone and Wight have decent chemistry on the desk but adding Henry to it derails the team, for me at least. He's too prone to descending into old boys' glory day banter with Show.

  6. Little Brody just started a board game club at school. I'm very proud of her but she's already talking about contingency plans for other kids misbehaving or not bringing in games when it's their turn.

The other side of this is going to be her frustration when the other 8 year olds bring in non-hobby games, or she lambasts them that Monopoly is for plebs.

  7. My hope is that they actually commit to releasing a full game with a full complement of game modes this time. When you've got games like Dragon Ball FighterZ, The Mortal Kombat games and Injustice releasing absolutely loaded with worthwhile content on release, before you get to the meaty DLC offerings, it makes the prospect of another release like SF5 or Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite feel like waiting for a slap in the face. Jesus, even the last Power Rangers game was more worthwhile and that was a budget release!

  8. Just saw the absolute state of that Saudi show and I remembered 10 nearly killing Adam Cole with a German Suplex on last night's Rampage. I know this forum likes it's big lads and doesn't like Adam Cole but I'm surprised no one else noticed

I'm sure there was another minging one but I can't remember which match it was maybe White Vs Trent, but yeah for all that some of the lads in AEW can be a bit reckless with their own bodies, you see little enough of the rough head drop stuff for it to be notable.

  9. I'm nearly finished Jade City by Fonda Lee. In terms of putting a lazy definition on it, I'd sell it as a mix of Hong Kong Cinema, The Godfather and Dune. It's the most refreshing fantasy book I've read in years and has a proper sense of a lived in world and really well defined characters.

    Strong Recommend.

  10. Back when I still went to Progress shows, I had the privilege of seeing LAX Vs CCK in Manchester.

It was one of the best matches I've ever seen live and Santana was the standout. He's one of those guys that can convincingly do anything in ring and his promo work in AEW has been excellent. I also really like the subtle change of roles between Santana and Ortiz. Santana has gone from being the flyer in the team to being the heavy hitter and Ortiz looks much more purposeful and mean since leaning out.

I really want to see Santana stretch out into more singles stuff. To me he's the next big working class baby face star, just sat there waiting to happen.

  11. I think it's established now, that AEW's audience aren't all the hardened NJPW nerds that it was assumed they'd be. Jay White coming in is interesting for the people it's interesting for, but Cole has more caché with the Wednesday night audience.

On a more subjective note, I've always found Jay White to be as dull as fucking dish water.

You just know that Moyes would’ve come under fire had he not done his job and used the best players available to him. If he dropped Zouma (without damaging him)and they dropped points and come the end of season, West Ham miss out on Europe by 3 points. Moyes would be blamed for the entirely hypothetical situation. But you get my meaning.

The people demand maximum damage to Kurt Zouma.

I mean of all the levels that something could be dumb, that was dumb.

I watched the Vice doc on Stardom, years ago and of the many things to feel uncomfortable about in it, Mayu's devotion to the company wasn't a minor one.

Anyway back on topic, can anyone else remember when Ospreay tried to shithouse his way into getting free Nando's for life?

Probably thinking of top rope rana botch from Bea and Mayu's red belt match.

My memory is pretty hazy on that match (been years since I watched it and I think I only watched it once) so can't quite remember what actually happened.

Yeah, just found it elsewhere. It's fucking grim and frankly a miracle that Mayu wasn't killed.

Yea she went full time with Stardom and didn’t get released from AEW due to a bad attitude.

They’re not even a couple anymore are they?

She wasn't seen as being valuable enough to pay whilst doing nowt, same as Sadie Gibbs.

I  can'timagine giving their top female a concussion after about 40 seconds in an AEW ring and potatoing Sadie Gibbs at her earliest convenience did her any favours though.
