  1. Yeah I enjoyed all that stuff, and the tag locations too. I missed buying up houses and businesses, nothing made me feel more like a badass kingpin than in Vice City, driving around thinking to myself "I own that place, that's my strip club, that's my car lot" etc. Really made it feel like you had made an impact on the city.

  2. Just posted this in the 360 thread, but any early speculation on the styling of the V? I'd say it pretty much kills the rumour of them returning to Vice City.

  3. I suggested the two quote thing in the Paidos forum because it lets you get the gist of the conversation but stops people from being able to use walls of quotes..... I kinda like it but if it's going to cause problems with the forum software then happy to go back to either of the old ways really. I'm sure life will go on.

  4. Meh, I'm generally OK with Lucas making changes to the releases, there are some that I like and some that I don't but generally I prefer the changes. Putting CGI Yoda into The Phantom Menace is great IMO, on par with putting Ian McDiarmand's Palpatine into the hologram scene of The Empire Strikes Back instead of that fucked up half ape, half old lady thing.....but those Vader 'Noooooos' in the death of the Emperor scene are atrocious.

Having Hayden Christiansen at the end of Jedi, as much as I hate him, does make sense. I still miss the original Nub Nub song with the ewoks there though, although again, the replacement scene with celebrations all over the different planets and the toppling of the imperial statues on Coruscant is great.

  5. Not far off.

Prior's jusr got out for 5 too, so has that been updated? Crofty could have been right this morning!! //statto//

To be fair, Croft played in some average England sides, against some unreal opposition. Coupled with the fact that we were taking beating after beating from the Aussies every 18 months its not surprising.

    Those Thorpe stats are superb.

Yeah that's a good point actually, the stats were refreshed and up to date the minute I posted so would have taken into account Priors 5. So yes Croft was probably right. How many players have we got currently then averaging more than that then? Cook just gone over 50, Pietersen just under 50, and Belly is up to an average of 47 now too. Trott is up at 57 but until he's played a few more tests I don't think it's fair to compare them.

  6. Christ that can't be right surely? *Goes off to research*. According to cricinfo

    MJ Prior 2007-2011 46* 69 12 2531 131* 44.40 6 18 8

an average of 44.40, he's not far off actually, the only one I can find that Croft would have played with that's only just slightly higher is my hero and all time favourite player.

    GP Thorpe 1993-2005 100 179 28 6744 200* 44.66 16 39 12

  7. Gibberish. There are plenty of people out there who choose to think their situation is hopeless as it's easier to blame than to take some responsibility and work hard to get somewhere. the very idea that your geography/social economy deems your employability is hilarious.

I do, however, agree that asprations need to be concentrated on and shown to generations that anyone can be anything if they bust their hump to do it.

Perhaps that's another problem. In that the majority of 'role models' today aren't people who've busted their asses working hard over many years to get where they are, they're no-name beautiful people who've had a lucky break on a reality TV show and gone from nothing to something overnight. Doesn't really send a great message about the importance of a good work ethic

  8. If Rick was strolling around council estates randomly pointing at people and shouting 'scum', I could see your point Whiskey. But he's not. Magnum, again, said it spot on in that it's because of their ACTIONS and no other reason that he is calling those PARTICULAR PEOPLE scum. Also, Johnnyboy is completely right about the education side of things regarding getting a job. Education is free for anyone who can be fucked to head down to the library.

  9. No one walks into jobs now. If I wanted to get payback on every company that had not responded to an application I'd never have time to do anything else.

This is what I was saying the other day, it's ridiculous to think that someone's reaction to not getting a reply from a business is to smash the shit out of it. That kind of rejection is an important life lesson that comes to almost everyone, and the best way to apply for jobs in my experience is to spread the net as far and wide as possible so that the individual rejections mean less.

  10. Really disappointed by the Indians, they just don't seem bothered. Trotting around after boundaries with little enthusiasm for stopping them, giving away extras all over the shop, uninspired bowling. They've given up already.

Agreed, Sehwag especially just looks like he doesn't want to be there. It doesn't look like anything other than a heavy innings defeat at the moment, especially at Edgbaston where if we can stick around for a lot of tomorrow, the 4th and 5th day will be very difficult to make a decent score on.

  11. Even when Whiskey advocated the use of water cannons (which I believe to be totally inappropriate and counter-productive), it wasn't good enough for the "smash heads and lock them up forever" brigade.

Did I miss an entire section of this thread somewhere? When Whiskey suggested that everyone agreed with him and the point was pretty much dropped.
