  1. As long as the option is there to watch things at the cinema without 3D then I don't mind too much. But if every movie starts doing it I really can't see myself going often.

They would never do that because some people can't see 3D.

In a way that's good I guess, but this triggers another problem, if cinemas start showing major films in 3D and non 3D versions, that's twice as many screens taken up, or half as many individual films to choose from at each place.

  2. Well here we go lads, 10 hours until the first bowl balled, anyone else doing an all nighter tonight? Predictions for this test and the series?

I'll be up, cannot wait. Same as Dent I'll probably watch up until lunch and then crash out. Can see this happening a lot. What time's stumps in UK time? Hopefully I'll be up by then and catch the end of each day too

  3. I've seen several 'modern' 3D films now, A Christmas Carol, Alice in Wonderland, Toy Story and Avatar....personally I think it works well with animated movies, I loved its usage in Christmas Carol and Toy Story, but live action in 3D I just don't like. It's like my eyes are trying to process too much and it just hurts after a while. Hated Avatar. Hated it.

  4. The shoehorned in motion controls for DKC returns are disheartening. I was really hoping to just play it on my Classic Controller or a Gamecube pad. I still want to play it, but enforced waggle when it isn't necessary shouldn't be happening now that the Wii has been around for a bit. Use it when it enhances the game, leave it out when it doesn't. Jeez.

This is my worry for both games and films for the next few years, games developers making you flap your arms around like a cunt for the sake of putting "compatible with Microsoft Kinect" on the box, and every film having objects and animals fly at the screen every 5 seconds to sell more 3D glasses.

  5. Absolutely. If we didn't have Trott in the side at the moment, it would have been an absolute collapse and we'd be staring at another defeat. To go from 47-5 to 261-7 is a brilliant recovery from Trott and Broad. Trott is definitely already going to Australia, and Broad is once again showing that he could be the all rounder to replace Flintoff in the Test side. Even if he gets knocked a bit for his bowling as of late, his batting will have certainly helped him keep his place in the side. Has Broad ever made a century?

Not yet, even if first class cricket. I reckon he'll make a couple in test cricket though before his career is up.

His previous best was something like 72 IIRC.

    *EDIT*

And there's his 100. Absolutely brilliant today.

  6. OK guys, need a little help here, I need basically a cricket version of 'Football manager' for cricket for something at work. Just to get arbitrary stats such as timing, judgment, power, etc etc etc. I downloaded the demo of International Cricket Captain, but it doesnt seem to use those anymore, and just opts for real life stats such as strike rate, average, economy etc.

I bought myself the new International Cricket 2010 game from Codemasters for the 360, and while this has the stats I need for some countries, you cant seem to get into them for the licenced teams (England and Australia).

If anyone knows of an alternative I would much appreciate the help

  7. Cook didn't look comfortable again there. Is it time to drop him you think?

Of course I'd go for Robert Key opening with Strauss but that'll never happen for quite a few reasons-namely the management have their 'problems' with him, which is a shame as he is probably the best opener in the country.

I'd love to see Key back in an England shirt, not just for the fact that I agree he is one of the best openers in the country, but because my boss was his PE teacher at school.

  8. Being a broke student, I'm attempting to purchase at least one pre-played game per week, preferring to not spend much more than a tenner at a time. This week it's Ninja Gaiden II which is lots of button-bashing bloodletting fun. The bosses make me want to throw my control pad through the television sometimes though.

Is it is tough as people say? I have a friend who cites beating Gaiden II on the hardest difficulty as his greatest achievement in gaming

  9. Looks like the Ashes are staying on Sky.

Personally I'm delighted. Sky are fantastic at cricket coverage and I think taking it off them and giving back to the BBC, who would probably bring on board fucking Mark Nicholas or something. And that would be shite. Really, what they should do is make sure the highlights packages on terrestrial are more detailed and in better timeslots because they're currently bollocks.

Agree with every word of that. Sky do a fantastic job with their cricket coverage, always the right blend of pundits and commentators, sexy graphics and uninterrupted coverage.

  10. Louis Mably, prosecuting, said eight of the images were at level four, the second most serious level of child pornography. Two were at level three, three were at level two, and 44 were at level one, the least serious, he added.

The thing that strikes me about this article is this bit. I presume then that it's someone's job to go through all the pictures of sexually abused children on people's PC's, and essentially 'rate them' out of 5.....what a horrific job, that would seriously fuck you up.

  11. Scream 4

    scream-4-poster.jpg

No official plot yet, but it's said to take place 10 years after the events in part 3.

    Has the original cast

Looking forward to this. Really like the Scream trilogy especially the first. One of the first 18's I watched and it has nostalaga value for that but by taking the piss out of horror cliches.

Trying to remember which of the original cast are still alive....is it just Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Monica Geller now?

  12. Just got my HTC Desire today after numerous problems with my n900. Have to say im impressed so far and if HTC can stick to their guns and keep knocking out fantastic phone like this then Apple should really be worried that from the pack of phone makers (HTC, Nokia, Samung etc) there finally has appeared an iPhone killer.

I should be getting my Desire through in the next few days, I'm ridiculously excited by it. How are you getting on with yours now and are there any apps you'd recommend?
