  1. I've become quite good at avoiding spoilers so I think I'm also going to try and wait for the next series rather than read the books.

Christ that was good though. Joffrey has in the space of an hour and a half become one of my favourite TV villains, reminds me a lot of Malcolm McDowell's portrayal of Caligula although slightly less cheerily sadistic and just plain sadistic. I Was really sad at the pussy-assed way Khal Drogo went out though, I really wanted to see him lead the Dothraki into a larger battle at some point. Still though....dragons? fuck yeah.

  2. +2

I've only really discovered Stewart Lee's standup over the last couple of years so I'm looking forward to catching up on Fist of Fun, that DVD looks like a good place to start.

  3. Watched Football Factory and Insidious just recently, here's what I thought...

Insidious - Started off very promising, some really creepy bits. I'd not been to see a horror at the movies for years and I was really enjoying the build up in the early going. However, I couldn't shake the nagging line they're running with in all the ads of "It's not the house that's haunted - it's your son!". If this were true, surely this was the whole storyline with it's arse hanging out of the window for all to see. Where could they go from there? Well, where they went from there was totally and utterly downhill. The first sort of 1/4 of the movie was really pretty good, the rest, despite some decent scary images at times was - undoubtedly, awful.

If you're thinking about watching it, don't. Has anyone else seen it yet? If so, what did you think? For me, 3.5 / 10

I'd say 3.5 / 10 was very harsh. Yes the plot goes a little walkabouts in the second half of the film but as a standalone horror movie it does exactly what you'd want. I found the whole thing incredibly creepy, the jumpy bits were very, very jumpy and the buildups to them were as tense as anything. I think I may have gone in with different (lower) expectations than you in terms of how good a 'film' it would be, and just went in for a shit-your-pants-scary hour and a half, and that's what I got. 7.5 out of 10 for me.

  4. One Chance

Something a bit different. Beautiful little game that shows that games can be incredibly artistic. Let us know (in spoiler tags) how you got on.

SPOILER - Highlight the black box to read

I worked every day in the lab, my wife died on day 5 but my daughter didn't. On the final day I developed the cure and then took my daughter to the park. I think we are the last two humans alive

  5. I imagine it would be quite a lengthy trip from another planet by balloon.

Maybe they would of been allready dead by the time they got here then?

Well I assume the Duane answer would be that they came in a much larger craft, and the balloon thing was just like a landing craft. Much like if we were invaded by the Imperial Navy in Star Wars single pilots would be landing in TIE fighters having travelled the greater distance aboard a star destroyer.

  6. Link

For anyone interested, the scans of the memos can be found here, they're not great quality but just about readable. I can't find a link to the actual vault website though, although admittedly I haven't tried very hard. Glad to see the top link on Google is still the wiki for Fallout 3

  7. Also, call me cynical, but it's interesting that this coincides with the launch of this new 'vault' website......is there advertising or any commercial gain attributed to the site that would benefit from the traffic of not just conspiracy nuts, but hundreds of thousands of interested people?

  8. Didn't want to create a new thread for this so it can go in here.... but thought it was pretty funny. Disney are doing an Agatha Christie's Miss Marple film. This is what the character looks like in all movie and TV adaptations, and how she is described in the books.

So clearly there is only one choice as to who Disney could cast for the role:

  9. I had two shots in my batting armoury, none of the teams we used to play against ever played a third man or fine leg, so I'd either thick edge it down to the third man boundary, or a play a horribly ugly leg glance slog kind of shot. Not exactly full of technique but I used to get loads of runs. If there was a wagon wheel made of my brief career, I'd say 75% of my runs were scored backward of square.

Cheers for the advice Max Power, appreciated. It's something I always say I'll look into and I really should.

  10. My cricketing career lasted only one year at secondary school, played in the school team as an opening batsman, wasn't great but I really enjoyed it (especially going to the posh schools where you'd be able to sit in something resembling a pavillion and have some food put on after). After the end of our first season the school sold off the land we used as our pitch and with nowhere to play they disbanded the cricket team :(. Never had the confidence to try out for a club.

  11. I cannot believe Vernon Kay didn't make the list, I was certain he'd be top 10. Pat, that's a great idea RE: Loose Women though.

Erm... I don't think Vernon Kay's been mentioned anywhere? And we're not up to the top 10 yet?

Wow. Paddy McGuinness has now gotten so shite that I read his name as Vernon Kay. I skim-read the last nearly-twats, saw the Blind Date reference and thought the new version was presented by Vernon Kay. It must be the only prime time terrestrial game show that cunt doesn't host.

On the bright side, good.....should be in the top 10 then.

  12. Ah, we've reached the point in the argument where someone has gone through quote by quote and listed an array of excellent points that refute everything Duane has said (Loki, post #106). I'll pop back in this thread in 4 months time when enough time has passed that he comes back in to bump the thread and start arguing it again, hoping that everyone has forgotten about said post and disregarding it completely. It's like having an argument with fucking Groundhog Day.
