It'll be ok for those that stay up late to watch Smackdown live, when it's finished you've got Rampage to take you till 4am.

At the end of the day that's what time a PPV would normally finish UK time.

It not being at the end of the day is very much the problem

  2. Was really tempted to stay up and watch the debut of Rampage, something which I’ve not done for any sort of wrestling for well over a decade, but FITE has listed as starting at 3am, no chance am I staying up for that. Saturday morning with a bowl of Wheetos, just like it used to be

Not an in joke to anyone but me, myself and I but I always sing "mashed potato, mashed potato, mashed potato, mashed PO-TAY-TO" like Bader did whenever I make mash.

But everyone does that, don’t they?

  4. The Wife and I have taken to watching Channel 4 News over the last 18months or so and sing “I’m Jon Snow, here’s the News. I’m Jon Snow, here’s the News, I’m Jon Snow...” in time with the theme music with a dramatic “HERE’S THE NEWS” at the finish

I need help with a couple of things...

Recently I have found that every video starts with closed caption automatically displaying.  How do I stop this from happening?

Also, I'm not sure if the search function is working properly - for example, when I search for "Mankind", only 14 matches appear.  There should be more than that.  Have the settings changed in some way?

What you watching on? Might you Closed Captions set to come by default through whatever your using.

Dont bother with the Search, it’s fucking useless and always has been. If you’re wanting to watch something specific your best just finding out which show it’s from and finding it in the library yourself.

In an update from the other , The network seems to be working fine on Roku now so whatever the issue was they’ve obviously sorted it

Whilst it’s fun to laugh at Triple H and they deserve everything they get for putting on such a terrible show during the, “war,” I do think this new mandate makes for an even bigger open goal for AEW to take advantage of. Only hiring tall guys under thirty is a terrible idea. Why not just hire the best guys available at any given time, regardless of height or age? All this going to do is result in even more talented independent guys going to AEW, where the track record is such that they’ll almost certainly succeed and become a star.

I’m not saying the developmental system they previously had was working, it obviously wasn’t, but let’s also not forget that the most successful main roster debut of the last decade or so was AJ Styles. A man who was THIRTY EIGHT and FIVE FOOT ELEVEN when he turned up and instantly became the best guy on the roster, winning the World Title in record time.

And had the better part of 20 years experience already. If they’re going to be just looking to bring in guys that are tall & under 30 then they also need to look at what kind of experience they have have (if any) and tailor the training to that. And that seems to have been one of the main issues, everyone is learning in the same classes, running the same drills, same promo class etc. Nobody is being moulded to be what they’re best at

People trying to kid themselves that NXT was outside of the WWE umbrella or the “acceptable face of the company.”

Like the guy on our NXT date who referring to Finn Balor as Prince Devitt because “Finn Balor is his slave name”.  Balor was working the main event that night and this guy bought a ticket, yeah that’ll show ‘em

A mate and I always wanted to do a 24 parody where he has a really good day, like gets to have a lie in and goes down the pub with his mates etc.

A mate and I had a similar idea, although we only wanted to do it for one episode where Jack went and sat on the bog with the paper

  10. Didn’t Darby’s now ex-wife accuse him of things last year too? Not of rape, but certainly being somewhat controlling.

Interesting to see how AEW address this. They sent Jimmy Havoc packing quite sharpish once he left his Rehab facility, but they’ve invested a lot of time & money into Darby.

Not that that should get him a free pass, but if they don’t do anything then they’re just as bad and Carny as Old Man Vince.
Then again, Justin Roberts got away unscathed, so it’s highly possible they just take Darby off TV for a bit and wait for it to blow over

Have they said they're using a different set? I know the pandemic forced them into using the same venue for ages but whenever I've watched AEW the set up has virtually always looked the same regardless of whether its a normal episode, a special or a PPV.

I hope they do have a slightly different set for Rampage just to differentiate it from Dynamite.

The PPV sets Pre-pandemic tended to be decorated differently but they’ve pretty much alway used the tunnel entrances. Obviously they haven’t run a PPV outside of Jacksonville since last May, but I would imagine that All Out will have something different (assuming that the US hasn’t been locked down again by that time)

  12. 43 minutes ago, andrew "the ref" coyne said:

When it first came out, Smackdown and Raw from my memory was very similar, only different set, music, lighting etc. Shared continuity.

However AEW will be fine. Heck, week to week Dynamite isn't the same. You don't see Miro defend his belt every show for example. Generally speaking guys seems to wrestler week on or week off. General exception are when they are pushing a specific angle. Unlike RAW where, despite it's roster size and all the guy waiting to get on the show, you have a Sheamus match every week, a New Day bit every week, a Alexa Bliss / Eva Marie sketch etc etc.

If they do it right, they'll have super quick recaps on Dynamite and Rampage for the other show. In fact why they don't do a quick 30 second montage of who won matches on AEW dark is beyond me (I know they run a ticker, but it's not the same).

Because even Kevin Dunn couldn’t fit 18 finishes into 30 seconds

Surely we can’t be far off from “WWE has released the following superstars from NXT UK:

    All of them. The end”

That’s the thing about all the recent releases. The NXT:UK abusers and Austin Theory somehow keep a job while Bronson Reed, a guy with some actual potential gets shitcanned.

@HarmonicGenerator -  Martinez had a bang average match with Xia Lee at the last Takeover, but I can’t think of anything she’s done since then. She’ll probably head back to AEW to make up the numbers or could maybe have a short run in Impact.

Arn’t a lot of the other releases a bunch of guys they picked up in the EVOLVE deal? That seems like a total waste of time in hindsight

  14. 19 minutes ago, unfitfinlay said:

I'm sure Punk will make an appearance but he hasn't wrestled since 2014.  Expecting him to have a match that'll live up to this level of hype is a bit much surely? Imagine if he blows up after a few minutes?

Wasn’t he working on some wrestling TV show with Stephen Ammel last year? That could’ve knock some ring-rust off for him, but I wouldn’t expect him to going 25+minutes in his first match back

  15. Bit of a ropey beginning to Jericho/Juvi, but they got into a groove relatively quickly.
I’ve seen some people giving out about the match because “it wasn’t up to what they used to do in WCW”. I know right, it’s almost like they’re both 20+ years older than they were then, fucks sake.

Were those 2.0 lads on NXT recently?

Apparently Kenny’s Cookie Monster T-shirt was a CM Punk reference. Anyone?

He still has the odd moment of being a right curmudgeon, but JR has been noticeably better since they went back out on the road.

Malakai Black - what an entrance. I know there will plenty that hate his theme music, but no-one else in the big two has got anything like that so it sets him apart.
Fucking Cody Hogan in the post-match though. “I fired them, they didn’t fire me” - that didn’t get the reaction you hoped for did it?
Hopefully he doesn’t win the return match either, because that’s not going to do anything for Black if that happens.

A very good episode on the whole though.
