  1. If I remember right the Patterson/Slaughter match was released as part of the Falls Count Anywhere DVD/BluRay set a few years back, but I don’t that sold very well so this is a good way for people to see it.

I like a lot of these collections. They omit some of the more obvious stuff to give some forgotten matches a new lease of life. This one has the HBK/Batista Stretcher Match from One Night Stand 2008 which I’ve just given a watch as I don’t think I’ve seen since it happened and it’s a decent scrap.

  2. There was a period during the COVID era were Jerry Lynn appeared on TV in some capacity for about 10 weeks in a row and I was convinced he was going to do one last match, but it never came to pass.
I’m sure he’s still got one last match in him and this is as a good storyline to work that into as it could be. Doesn’t have to anything epic, and nor should it be for two guys with a combined age of 110, but I bet you could get a good 10 minute match out of it

  3. Despite Tony Sniff’s supposed stop to requested releases, it would appear as though Andrade is on his way out the door and not giving a single shot about it

Or he’s just pissing about and not actually going anywhere, you decide

  4. Still watching but like others I’m not exactly enamoured with it.

Being predominantly Targaryen focused works against it I fell, as in GoT you could chop & change between more characters and their stories, whereas here the scope seems a lot more narrow.

I didn’t realise just how much time jumping there was going to be in it though. I get that they’re adapting a single, albeit very large book, but there’s a lot of “and then for a while nothing happened, until…” going on

  5. I’ll watch the full show later but that Saraya promo was the fucking pits.

“When they say ‘we’re going to make a change’, I promise you we’re going to make a change”- literally nothing to say so just say everything twice, say everything twice.

Toni Storm - “she is the best champion AEW has ever seen”
“Boooo!”, so that’s her thrown under the bus. Absolutely no reaction to the the match being announced for the belt either.

Britt starting off with the “well, we’ll, well” - having Joel Gertner come out would’ve been better. His schtick is outdated as hell but at least the women could’ve got their heat by smacking a chauvinist.

“It’s nice to have a boss that listens to me!”- why would they when the best you’ve got is ”Your name rhymes with shit”, fuck off you useless bint

  6. Yeah, there was a trailer released a few weeks back.

It’s going to be full of fantastic bullshit. The Wrestling equivalent of The Four Yorkshiremen.

”I beat Inoki in the Tokyo Dome, then flew over the international dateline and wrestled the previous day”.
“You think that’s something, I died in the ring that night and still went over”

This is where we are now - a mid-budget comedy from a respected director and headed by Jon Hamm that nobody had heard of beforehand shoved out on DTV instead of being given a reasonable shot at the cinema. Which it should have got because it's really good. Hamm's much more engaging than Chevy Chase was in the role and the support cast are excellent. One of the best surprises of the year.

I was reading something earlier today about Hamm handing back a little over half of his salary (the director also handed back some of his although not as much) so that they could film an extra 3 days after they struggled to get financing. I haven’t seen it yet but I’m looking forward to it, I like Jon Hamm and he seems a good egg. Well, apart from that Hazing Incident when he was at college

Is there anything particular special about TNA Turning Point 2009 in DVD?

I was in CEX earlier and they were selling a copy for 20 quid.

A look on Amazon and eBay and it's going for between 40 and 50.

I doubt that there’s anything particularly special about the show itself (although it does feature one of those Styles/Daniels/Joe Triple Threats that were always raved about), more that it’ll be out of print
