I think that title's tied up forevermore by Lord Lerwick. Difficult to see how anyone's ever going to be more northern than somebody from Shetland. A forgivable oversight on Sunak's part, my picking out a long-forgotten aristocrat from the nineteenth century to get one over on him? Hardly: it's Norman Lamont.

Thinking of him has just compelled me to look up one of his predecessors and ... somehow Nigel Lawson has made it to 90. I suppose there's hope for all of us if he didn't get felled by a heart attack thirty years ago, before he dropped all that weight.

Easy to forget that other obscure Chancellor come PM, Gordon Brown. Sunak is such a scrawny little twat, Truss is a certified idiot but Iā€™ll take some solace in her becoming PM by someone as thick as her beating that entitled little suit.Ā

  2. Yeah, more than acceptable. I often wonā€™t if itā€™s a standard ale, IPA or the likes as the chances are Iā€™ll be able to drink even if I donā€™t love it. Iā€™m a bit more fickle when it comes to stouts and sours so Iā€™ll always ask to try before I buy.Ā

  3. Itā€™s 2022 and one of the favourites for the top job opened her leadership bid by talking about the Falklandā€™s War. Weā€™re on a downward spiral of jingoistic nastiness in this country, pandering to the absolute worst people we have to offer. On the same day that report is published highlighting that we have the highest income inequality and lowest disposable income of any Western European country, including those bastions of economic stability Italy and Spain. Same report reckons the average household is Ā£8,800 a year poorer than the equivalent in Germany and France. But this isnā€™t important, much better to talk about willies and a war that finished 40 years ago.Ā

  4. Got to laugh at Grant Shapps sitting at 100/1 for the job, miles behind people who either havenā€™t declared or unequivocally stated that they wonā€™t.Ā
    Ā

Iā€™ve got a score on Tugendhat, got him at 18/1 but Iā€™m now thinking itā€™ll be Mordaunt and Sunak in the final two and not sure what way itā€™ll go after that.

The Tories, the party of the fucking Right Club and the League of Empire Loyalists, are also the only party who've had a Jewish prime minister, two women, and, potentially, the first ethnic minority one.

    And a pig fucker.

  6. Aw man, I am gutted about this. In a show full of amazing characters he really managed to stand out, just an unbelievable charisma. Iā€™m not too long back from a weekend stag where me and the two guys I was sharing a room with spent the entire time quoting him, just too many to rhyme off. That thing he does with his hand when heā€™s up in someoneā€™s face, his trip to Italy, the tracksuits, the superstitious stuff, everything, he was absolutely perfect on that show. RIP Tony Sirico.

  7. Under the, apparently neoliberal, Tories Iā€™ve seen my tax and NI contributions rise significantly but my access to public services deplete rapidly. Scotland remaining with the UK doesnā€™t guarantee personal financial stability. No one can really know what would happen in either case. For me, itā€™s about an opportunity to put social justice front and centre and thatā€™s not happening under Westminster.Ā

Didnā€™t Corbyn lose in 2017? Ā He certainly did in 2019, and heavily. Ā People distrusted him mainly because of what he said, I know I did. Ā Plenty of people voted Tory for the first time because of him.

    ā€œPeopleā€. Ok, Loki šŸ˜‰

  9. If Corbyn gave the media the Mick Lynch treatment and the parliamentary Labour Party done their fucking job in 2017 then weā€™d be living in the sunny uplands of socialist utopia now, and Johnson would be writing racist dog whistles for a shitrag.Ā

  10. Struggling to see why wetwipe Starmer doesnā€™t call a VONC (ok, so I answered my own question). Either Johnson loses it and has to resign/call a GE or wins it and Starmer can use it as ammo against those who voted to keep him in place?

  11. Thatā€™s a great effort, grass is surprisingly difficult to get looking good. We moved in to our new place Aug last year and Iā€™ve been trying similar but reckon itā€™ll take at least another year to get it to look passable. Doesnā€™t help that my dog seems to piss napalm.Ā
