  1. I would say the only thing saving him for the time being is that none of the front runners want the job, as things stand. Behind in the polls, Brexit is a mess, Northern Ireland looking precarious, fuel and energy prices soaring and inflation ballooning with no sign of slowing. Hardly a tempting starting point for a new PM, they’ll be hoping he can take as much of the flak and for as long as possible before swanning in to save the day around conference season.  Remember these people always put themselves first.

  2. The “I’m too stupid to realise a party when I’m at one” defense is certainly an interesting position. Suppose it doesn’t matter when you govern a party and country full of sycophantic seat sniffers.

  3. I watched an interview with Iain Hislop recently where he talks about this, and in this country he lays some of the blame at Laura Kuenssberg and her approach to “journalism”.   His point was that there’s no critical analysis of policy or Government performance anymore, everything is treated as some fast-moving reality show where we’re constantly fed a live stream of who’s in/out, does Carrie hate Dom etc. He used the sewage stuff as an example, disgraceful legislation passed by parliament but could barely get a foothold in in the news when it was being debated and by the time the drone videos were out of shit literally being pumped in to rivers and streams the news had moved on to what kind of wallpaper stop-calling-him-Boris had picked for his gaff. We’re a tabloid obsessed, sad little country unfortunately.

  4. Does anyone have any experience using SharePoint on iOS? I have to change my work password every 3 months, normally this doesn’t cause an issue as I just log out of SharePoint and then back in again and it’s as normal. This time after logging back in, every time I come away from the app, be it closing the app or just browsing another app, when I return to it I’ve been logged out. There’s no settings or options within the app to stay logged in and the box to do so is unchecked within the phone settings.
I need to access it several times a day and it’s become such a faff as not only does it log me out but it doesn’t remember my log in details and I have to use a secondary verification every time.

  5. To be fair to the miserable sod he’s always been great at shutting down idiots. His quick put down of sexist journalists when asked about his own wins is top stuff.

In the UK I agree, but driving in Europe was actually enjoyable.

Yeah, I should have caveated that with town/motorway driving. We’re just back from a week holiday in the Highlands and driving up that way is a delight. Unless you meet some arsehole in an RV on a single track road that is.
Loved driving through the country when I was living/working in Italy for a couple of years too. A bit stressful and manic in the cities, you just have to look at how many cars have bumps and scrapes on them to suss their attitude to driving. My boss’ company car was more battered than Debra but I have a feeling he had a deal with the guy in the garage because he was fleecing just about everything else that he could on the credit card etc.

  7. Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised at how cheap it was, a good couple of quid less than the other promo burger they’re doing.  I’m sure there’s a market for it but it wasn’t for me.

  8. Tried the McPlant earlier, it was terrible and I’m not averse to meat substitutes either. Rubbery and tasted of nothing, I know this is McDonald’s but honestly, save yourself the bother (and fiver).

I know we should never just go off anecdotes and secondary stories but I have NEVER read or heard anything but negative stories about him, which is incredibly rare.

Really? I’m the opposite, until covid I had never heard anything but positive stories about him and how he was the most popular guy on tour etc. There was also a period where his impressions of other players were going viral and all the talk from pundits was about how easy-breezy and funny a guy he was.
I only watch the grand slams, and not religiously, so I’m going off the very limited stuff I’ve seen and heard about him.

  10. I learned in a manual and stuck with that for the first 12 years of driving thinking that was the proper way to drive and that automatic was for nonces and women. Had an automatic for the last 3 years and there’s no way I’d ever go back to manual, although I do still drive company cars which are manual.
If you live in an area prone to congestion, which seems to be everywhere these days, then you’ll have absolutely no regrets learning automatic.

You tend to pay a bit more for automatics, particularly second hand, but that’s really the only downside I can think of. Oh and if you’re going to do much motorway driving then cruise control is a must have.

  11. The dry brine worked a treat. The skin was so crisp, even after resting under foil for 90 mins. Going to experiment with this technique and different types of meat.

Best roasties I’ve ever made too, think it was the fact that I parboiled them and let them cool and dry hours in advance as that’s the only thing I did different to when normally do a roast.

Messed up the tiramisu but it was still pleasant enough to eat. Only used half as much marscapone as needed so the zabaglione was a bit wet and airy. Still scoffed the lot though.

  12. Trying a dry brine for the turkey this year, apparently it keeps the meat moist and gives extra crispy skin. Just a simple mix of coarse salt, black pepper and thyme, generously rubbed over and stuck in the fridge this morning. I’ve only ever cooked turkey once before and it was a bit of a disappointment but I’ve got high hopes for this. Giblet stock for gravy is simmering away and just about to make a start on the smoked mackerel pâté and tiramisu.
Love this time of year for cooking.

A little pointless adding to the sea of greatness here but please do reach out if you're feeling low, lonely or just want to know how to cook sprouts.

I’ve come across a new recipe! Roasted with grapes and a bit of balsamic chucked in at the end to make a glaze from the oozing grape juice. Gave them a trial run last week and they were great, the sweetness perfectly offsets the bitterness of the sprouts.

  14. Fucking hell, that’s the epitome of “old man yells at cloud”. He reeks of having no mates but desperate to rant at something regardless. Weirdos like him should never be cancelled, give them as big a platform you can find and let them continue to make an arse of themselves, they’ll do the job for you.
