  1. In reply to @air_raid,  I remember one of those angles (I was just starting to discover women and lose interest in wrestling in 94, don’t recall them both) Didn’t they also run a similar angle with two other wrestlers around the same time. The IC title being held up on Action Zone one week, and settled the next. I want to say involving Goldust?

I would say I prefer the Performance Center shows to the Thunderdome. The Thunderdome is just the pinnacle of WWE over-production, whereas the PC at least had the advantage of a novel, unusual space for WWE performers to compete in. It was a rare chance to see them in a small, intimate environment rather than a major arena, and as long and plodding as the Edge/Orton and Gargano/Ciampa matches there were, there's a novelty in the "tour of the facilities" backstage brawling.

The Thunderdome is just a horrible uncanny valley facsimile of a live audience that does more harm than good to the presentation. I'd rather watch wrestling in complete silence than hear piped in "This is Awesome" chants, or the completely insane decision to make the default level of crowd noise a sort of disinterested murmur.

Hmmm, you’re one of, if not the best poster on here. I fell out of love with wrestling several years ago. But I’ve struggled to watch any ‘no crowd’ sport as it’s like watching a training game. More so wrestling as I felt like I was watching Covid being spread. At least the thunder dome (as shit as it is) negates that.

At a quick glance 5m looks like a decent showing for a current WWE YouTube video from what I can tell?

That’s the point isn’t it? Bad Bunny’s post of the same video attracted 20x as many views?

  4. Not watched a single AEW show, but followed it on here. As Lockdown has totally fucked my sleeping pattern I might do this! I have the fite tv app, is that the best way to watch? (I don’t mind paying)

Progress are on the WWE Network tonight. There's been no significant guidelines put in place, no investigations, they arent telling anyone whether or not the accused are agenting the shows backstage or not. Wrestling is shit, nothing has changed and fuck off.

Massively ironic from someone who once suggested, on here, that he’d rape my daughters!

  6. I’ve not watched any AEW, but I follow this thread. I barely watch any WWE these days, generally old stuff on the network, in the back ground. I was a massive Cody Rhodes fan in his WWE days, and even went to an ROH show in NY just because I was there and he was on it.
Reading between the lines, are you (we) underestimating how much Brodie Lee’s death has affected him?

  7. So this thread has really piqued my Transformers interest! Some great memories, especially those covers from @Chris B

Being as I spent the whole of lockdown buying Lego, and over indulged the minute Travelling Man reopened I need to get my house in order (literally) before I dig out those old comics.

So, for satisfaction in the meanwhile, what’s a good recommendation for a  ‘jumping on’ graphic novel that I may be able to pick up in Waterstones or Travelling Man?

Bearing in mind I haven’t read any Transformers for over 30 years?

Funny thing, I was just thinking about you as Summerslam1990 was mentioned in paid and I remembered his reign of terror on PWO under a different name for a bit incessantly going on about his tapes and he was doing our head in.

    Me or the PPV?!

Is that salaried management or are you on a retail agreement? I'm on salary for a standalone freehold but been furloughed but Ive been asked to live in for security which is fine by me as I haven't got BT sports at home. The pub across is on a retail agreement and took over the Friday the pub shotdown came in (poor bugger) and I'm wondering how the likes of Enterprise and the like are looking after people on retail agreements with the free rent but getting 20% or so with which you've got to pay staff.

    Knowing most PubCos, probably not.

I’m salaried management, but I work for a guy on a retail agreement, if that makes sense. I live on site anyway, I’m officially furloughed but I’m having my full pay topped up.

As far as Enterprise go (who we’re with) other than the rent holiday and the fact that they’ve said they’ll replace any unbreached lager and stout kegs I don’t know what support, if any, they’re offering.

My boss is confident we’ll be ok. But he also thinks we’ll be back in by then end of June. I’m not so sure on either account!

  10. As a different slant on things re work. I’m a Pub Manager I’m very lucky in that I’m financially stable, have a roof over my head and, for now, I’m being topped up to full pay. So basically I’m on full salary to sit in a free flat, build Lego and watch television.

But.... York is deserted. I have no real outside area. I do pop out once a day for a quick walk but I feel like I shouldn’t be out. I feel guilty as I’m being paid for nothing (I work for a one man band with two pubs, not a major chain) I’m single. I live 50 miles away from my daughters, who are both still working, in fact, almost everyone I know are still working. I’ve literally spoke directly to 5 people in the last 4 weeks (thank heavens for social media and FaceTime!)

My point is, the issues are different for everyone. I’m not worried about finances, my home, in the short  term at least, is safe.
But the days are so bloody long (and I have no self motivation which is on me)  I’m forcing myself to stay in bed in a morning just to shorten the day!

One of those two also played for Boston United, as did Julian Joachim

I remember going to Boston as a Scunthorpe fan, hoping to see him play. He started warming up with about 15 left, our idiot fans started chanting ‘you fat bastard’ at him. So he sat back down and quit a few days later!

  12. He was on a short ‘Where Are They Now’ documentary on the network and I seem to recall he was doing some sort of outdoor pursuits with kids. Which could be the ‘One Life’ previously mentioned.

i pinned my hopes on him being the next big thing! Paid far too much for a tag belt signed by him and Cody Rhodes because I loved that angle where Cody turned on Holly so much 🙄

  13. Aw man. Those reality checks just sucker punch you don’t they? Please don’t give up though mate. My ex was adamant at first that we were done, and then slowly seemed to be coming around. I fear it’s been too long now for a reconciliation, they’ve become too close. (Though I still think he’s just an excuse to break the cycle with me). It’s early days for you yet. Hang on in there!

  14. I’ve been toying with posting in here for a while, I’m in exactly the same position @Brock Goldberg, except for me it’s been three months and she met someone else. I treated her badly and took her for granted and I see that now. I was married for 18 years previously (not to this girl, we’d been together over 3 years) so I have emotional scars myself but I didn’t realise how I was taking them out on her. She loved me more than anyone ever has and I abused that. I too am convinced she still loves me (she’s told me so but tbf not for a few weeks). I fucked up and feel I’ve made the biggest mistake of my life (and that’s saying something).

Biggest difference is, I haven’t tried to be more disciplined (well not much anyway) if anything I’m drinking more, and eating and sleeping far less.

It’s shit mate. That’s all I can say. I’m just trying to stay positive, we still talk on a regular basis and generally if I leave her be for a few days she seeks me out so there’s a sliver of hope, but I dunno if that’s a good thing or not. I’m a long way from home too, so don’t really have the support network I should have. I do have friends, but I met the girl just after I moved here four years ago so haven’t needed anyone else until now.

Didn’t actually mean to make that so much about me, sorry. Keep doing what you’re doing, prove yourself to her. I have everything crossed for you, as I know exactly how you feel. All the best.
