The McMahons are the ones who should be taking pay cuts to save jobs.
Followed by releasing anyone who has asked/volunteered to be released.
ÂI bet Jericho would take a pay cut to stop midcarders getting sacked, canât think of many other guys that would.Â

If it has already been taped, and he is hyping it as his farewell matches off his own back, then that really shows why he shouldnât have been let goÂ
-
Drake pissed himself to save a spot. Most guys would have been glad their piss bag broke to get out of it, Drake just actually did it for good of the show.

Remember a couple of months back, when the Vince Bad narrative was about him not releasing wrestlers?Â
Yeah, because they wanted to be released. Now Drake Maverick is fucking crying, nobody wanted thatÂ

All those guys would be good additions to be fair, except for Hawkins.Â

Move it to the AEW threadÂ

How short a hiatus?
I have no idea, will probably have a better idea in a month though.Â

@King Pitcos Double Or Nothing is long enough away for them to say ânothing is set in stone, letâs see how the next month plays out.â
If they have to they could have a short hiatus after the current taping are done with Double Or Nothing as the first show back. I donât think it would lose them any fansÂ

Ah yes, the old 'well what they're doing isn't quite as bad as what someone else is doing so IT'S FINE' argument. Cool.
When did I say it was fine? When did I say anything similar to it being fine? I said they shouldnât be doing it. Pay attention.Â
Filming two or three live shows a week is worse than filming one live show in five weeks. Unless you donât understand what math is then that is a totally reasonable statement.Â

Feel sorry for the fans that thought AEW were different. Carny bastards. I wonder if Tony was always like this or being around wrestlers has turned him into a cunt.Â
Well they arenât holding live shows every week like WWE and have only announced one show to take place in five weeks time. So it isnât really the same level as what WWE are doing.Â
That being said they really should save it for when regular attendance shows are back on, for both safety and creative reasons. They postponed Blood and Guts because they knew it wouldnât work without a live crowd, donât see how this is different -

Assuming Vince (74 years old) isn't rocking up to the performance centre?
Would be surprised if Vince wasnât there, he is a captain that will go down with his ship. There has always been that mindset that he wouldnât ask anyone to do something that he wouldnât do himself.
Steph is probably the only person who could talk him out of attending the tapingsÂ

Proper shame they are going ahead with it in an empty arena. The wrestling business needed competition for years, but now seems like AEW and WWE are playing chicken with their wrestlerâs livesÂ

It has already been recorded, so it isnât so much a prediction as hyping a match he has already seen. Obviously it is his job to say itâs good, but I doubt he would be that confident in the match if it wasnât very goodÂ

WWE storylines and performers frequently play on those hivemind opinions (âVince isnât my real dadâ)but Iâm saying they havenât played on it frequently. There have been a few times they got it wrong and had to change course. That is different from them intentionally booking something that way.
There is a clear difference between salvaging something and intentionally playing into something. Reigns wasnât booked to win the Rumble and face Brock so that Rollins could cash in and become a hero. Rollins was booked to cash in because WWE keep making the same mistakes.

Kofi wasn't the 'plan' either, and no matter at what point Bryan became the plan they still then crafted it beautifully playing into the movement to make the fans feel they helped him get to the gold.
Well they clicked onto it quick enough for me to consider it to be part of a plan as opposed to the triple threat match which took them forever to change course with.

Cena vs Punk at Money in the Bank 2011 (and to a lesser extent, pretty much all of their matches after that)
Cena vs Bryan at SummerSlam 2013
Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 30
Cena vs Lesnar at SummerSlam 2014
Rollins cashing in Money in the Bank at WrestleMania 31
Roman Reigns promo on Raw the night after WrestleMania 33
Becky Lynch vs Charlotte Flair feud in 2018
Becky Lynch winning the WrestleMania 35 main event (though that is kind of the same as the previous one, so I wonât count it)
KofiMania
Drew McIntyre eliminating Brock from this yearâs Royal Rumble
All of the Royal Rumble endings where Roman Reigns gets eliminated at the end
Cena in the Firefly Fun House
The Punk match wasnât crafted as much as they gave him a live mic and got some pleasant returns off it. Nobody knew what they had before the pipe bomb. Daniel Bryan wasnât planned at all. Neither was Rollins cashing in. Was the plan always supposed to be Becky as part of a triple threat? She was popular because of character work, not because of stubborn fans being confused about who their father is. Drew eliminated Brock as anyone would have eliminated a monster heel. Donât know why you included the Fun House match. Iâd have let you have Roman after Mania if it had lead to an amazing heel run, but that isnât what they wanted. They just allowed him to get booed for ages (and it did make for a great segment but went no where.)
WWE have had to change course a few times because they have gauged fan reactions wrongly. They donât frequently plan stories around the reaction of a hive mind. Trying to salvage a mess they have made is clearly very different.
I guess one time they did try it was when they put the belt on Sheamus because they knew fans would hate that more than they would hate it being on Reigns.Â

Bryan/Orton/Batista.
I donât consider that to be in this category because that wasnât the plan from the start. They had to adapt because they had gotten it really wrong. Was also six years ago, so doesnât really show WWE âfrequently playing on hive mind opinions.â

What is your criteria for success there?
Something on the level of Kofi or the RVD match. Can you think of any time they have successfully engineered that type of story into an actual pay off?

They successfully did it with Kofi, although the popularity of New Day and Daniel Bryanâs excellent work played a part in that. Canât think of any other times they have made it work really. Maybe RVD at One Night Stand against Cena which was 14 years ago.

Bit weird then that when Charlotte battered Ronda, people chanted âthank you, Charlotte.âÂ
Ah yes, I remember now. Charlotte was also the hero against Rousey. If Becky hadnât been involved at all Charlotte would have been the clear favouriteÂ
-
Why are you talking like Ronda was the most hated woman or it was for any reason other than people had really got behind Becky because of her character work? People were desperate for Becky to be at the top, so anyone opposing her would have gotten some boos. Even if it had been another Indy darling (which Becky has never been anyway) they would have been booed because the momentum Becky built by being one of the best faces in the company.
Charlotte was the one who got booed because she always wins and was the chosen one, not Ronda. That was because she was given the match that the fans wanted Becky to have.
It is really weird that no matter what the conversation is you try to shoe horn it into the same repetitive argument. If Strowman got more cheers than Rollins you would find a way to make it seem like he had more internet pointsÂ

If I had a time machine Iâd buy bitcoin not go to a wrestling showÂ

Probably the logical thing to do would be to focus each show on a wrestler or feud. Do career retrospectives of your two new world champions, showing full matches around newly recorded interviews at home. But RAW is 3 fucking hours long.Â
Thatâs my thoughts on how they should have built Mania. A three hour Raw could easily have been focused around Styles/Undertaker with interviews, video packages mixed up with their best matches. Get half the roster filming talking head spots from home to keep them all fresh. Have all of Undertakers past opponents pop up for interviews. That could have probably carried on indefinitely with Mania being the first live show back (although probably in a much smaller venue as I can imagine it being a while before 60,000 people are allowed to gather in one place)Â
