Yeah, JR has enough goodwill for people to not get too hung up on his overall declining ability, as long as he isnât out staying his welcome. Advertising that he was going to call Moxely and Hager added to the illusion that this was going to be a special match.Â
He should be saved for big matches rather than calling full events which have stuff not to his taste. Keep him as a sit down interviewer and a special attraction. Tazz would be a decent replacement for everything else.Â
As for Excalibur, I donât mind him too much and he is the only one who feels like an AEW announcer because he isnât associated with another big time promotion. -
I can see Jericho finishing his career up in AEW on colour commentary, booking advisor and talent scout. He couldnât be a backstage producer because he loves the spotlight. I imagine he would love to get the praise for a product being good as part of a small booking team, if someone said he was the best booker since Heyman he would probably jizz his pants. The commentary would give him constant focus. He would also love to be able to say he found the next big thing at a small Indy show.Â
He is an absolute asset to AEW, has been since day one but the stripped back lockdown shows have really emphasised that. Cant see him going back to WWE to be another cog in a machine, this guy wants to be the engine. If TNA had gotten Jericho back in the day instead of Hogan then I think wrestling would have been very differentÂ

Give it up Kat Smacky D isn't getting over.
The only people who it isnât getting over with are just pissed off that Iâm not their Daddy. Iâm going to push it for the next few years regardless

The Moxely promo was an amped up more character based version of what I suggested Roman Reigns do in the Smacky D thread.Â
Â5 minutes ago, Supremo said:"Tough times never last forever and I promise one day we will all be back together and I will be bleeding and swearing in a sea of fans once again."
Â
From a guy in Reigns position that would be such a feel good quote. Mox nailed it though and I understand why WWE wonât do that. I just think their reasons are stupidÂ

I'd agree that their roster is a little bloated. Even before they were running with a limited crew, people like Jurassic Express, Butcher/Bunny/Blade and Private Party were getting lost in the mix, and they've got people on their books like StrongHearts and Sonny Kiss that they've done nothing with.
Sonny Kiss is the only name there which feels like it has been under-utilised. Everyone else has had plenty of screen time. I donât think they want to have everyone on every card and want to keep people fresh by rotating them in an out a bitÂ

So Cody is not sure about signing Zack Ryder even though he's his bezzy mate because he doesnt want AEW to become 'All Friends Wrestling'.
I mean, that ship's already sailed hasnt it!?
I think that is probably just an attempt to create some sort of mystery and talking point. Ryder is in without a doubt.
Â14 minutes ago, garynysmon said:I'd be more worried about adding to a roster that's already too bloated in comparison to its hours of exposure.
Ryder has applied for the trademark Internet Champion. There is plenty of time for him on BTE and Dark. Their roster is a lot thinner than they originally said it would be, they could do with a few more signings. Brian Cage, Rusev, Revival and Ryder would all fit nicely into the company before it starts getting bloated.Â

Do we think another wave of firings are coming or has this been a follow on of people asking fir their release so Axel taking his chance?Â
I think they are staggering the announcements of some of the releases, but these are still part of the original mass sacking.Â

I made this point to my mate too. On Dark the night before the 3 jobbers on that show were all black too. It would be nice to see some black representation that isn't getting battered by a white bloke.
I think they are getting a lot of their jobbers from QT Marshallâs school which is based in Atlanta Georgia, according to Google the racial composition of Atlanta is black at 52% and white at 40%Â
So it makes sense that a lot of his students would be black and it is good that they are giving guys opportunities. It just doesnât come off well when Scorpio Sky is the only poc who isnât getting beaten with ease and Marko Stunt is the only white guy who gets battered.
If that is AEWâs primary school for training new prospects I would expect them to have a pretty diverse roster down the line. It just looks bad right now when they are having to rely more on squash matches using only local talentÂ

So Jericho recorded commentary in a single 7Â hour session with Tony Schiavone with only 24 hours notice.Â
ÂWhat a guy

11.37am and no comments in here or the NXT threads, has the shine worn off?Â
Nobody is making must see TV and everyone has more free time to view it at their leisure. I used to have to stay up to watch it, but today I didnât even roll out of bed till 11 before sticking it on.
Decent show with a couple of really good bits like Dr Britt Baker. Cody and Allin have great chemistry as well.
This episode had a lot of black guys being used as jobbers. Most likely down to the area they are in, but it felt a bit weird only having white roster guys battering black workers over and over. If you went into this episode cold, you would assume the booker hates poc.

(Kind of wanted to start that with 'simply', to give it more of a Viz Top Tips feel)
I canât even remember the last time I watched a full Smacky D, I would still like to save more time while discussing it

It's obvious why he got signed. He's a great looking, super athletic guy with a million dollar smile who had a good act on the indies. They'd be crazy to ignore people like that. Sure, there's fuck all else there but you don't know that until you try.
Why they haven't given up after four years is another question.Â
He was a great signing for NXT, where he should have been sent to develop a character. He already had the tools and just needed to be given some sort of character. He got called up way too quick because Vince liked the look of him and they never attempted to give him a character as far as Iâm aware.Â
ÂFour years and I donât remember any character development or storylines. It ainât that they gave up on him, itâs that they never even tried in the first placeÂ

that could work in their favour, though - Cain Velasquez being brought in as a ringside enforcer to neutralise Hager being in Jericho's corner for a title fight could be a really fun angle.
Yeah but I canât see a spot for him after that. Having too many MMA guys sharing the same gimmick seems counter productive unless they are bringing something to the table.Â
-
He should definitely go to AAA, he seemed to fit in nicely there. AEW already made a play for him and when he turned it down the gave the spot to Hager. Gotta assume he regrets that decision unless WWE gave him so much money that he doesnât care at all. Hager has been booked brilliantly, with someone like Cainâs credentials heâd be over as fuck

Jericho's Podcast.
Itâs an hour long, he can find which part to listen to. Just like I found the part of vice doc which suggested he was talking bollocks.Â

Depends on his contract situation. At the moment, yes you can still watch him for sure, but talking about his questionable antics on a wrestling message board is not good etiquette.
Could you find where he talks about it please? The only clip Iâve seen depicts it very differently from how you described it so Iâd like some confirmation on it

The GG Allin shit was off-putting, he was a talentless unoriginal hack and the kind of "transgressive artist" you've grown out of by the time you turn 18. He could have at least called himself Darby P-Orridge if he wanted to emulate a shithead.
To be fair he just has the last name, he hasnât based his character around him. Also I still own GG Allin tshirts, but that is just to be edgy.Â
