There's no way that they'll be able to use Forever The Revival, even if they own the trademark. AEW and especially TNT won't want the hassle of a long, boring legal battle with WWE. not when they can just call them something else.

It's the same reason Bubba and D-Von called themselves Team 3D and not "The Deadly Brothers," even though they had that trademarked.

Well The Deadly Brothers sound absolutely awful anyway. Like most renaming, whatever The Revival go for will probably sound weird at first and then be alright after a while. I remember thinking Bully Ray sounded shit to begin with and now it’s totally normal, never got used to Brother Ray though

None of it matters. The rankings and win-loss records are just there to pay lip service to the lies they told before starting up. It's wrestling booking, it's never going to make sense statistically.

Do you actually believe the nonsense you come out with?

What lies are you talking about and do you actually think that is the only reason they have rankings and win-loss records?

  3. @BomberPat he was the booker of OVW when they turned out some top guys, but I don’t think that was down to him and just more luck of having them all in the same place at the same time.

Being a good filter isn’t much of a bragging point I agree, but it’s more than Russo has to offer in 2020

  4. Sometimes I listen to parts of Jim Cornette’s podcast if one comes up in auto play on YouTubeZ mostly match reviews and stuff. I think he can be a pretty good filter for stuff that doesn’t make sense some times. He is good at picking logic holes in stories or matches but not so good at coming up with any new ideas. If he could calm down and wasn’t such a twat, he would be a useful person for a creative booker to have on board who can make sure all the loose ends are tied up. I can’t think of any redeeming qualities for Russo though

No one would be forcing AEW to debut them without a crowd though

Sign them and hold off debuting until the 1st night back in an Arena

Well everyone knows it will be coming so there isn’t going to be a surprise debut at all. Maybe WWE think that because they didn’t wait for Lee or Hardy they won’t save them for the area shows.
Lee had already been hyped and Hardy is a useful person to have if you can’t film in front of crowds, so they probably would hold off on Revival.

Id be happy with them just shooting some video packages and building to when they can run an arena for the first proper appearance

Its funny because Jim and Russo are the exact same. But they just don't see it.

They shout a lot, that’s about it. Their views on anything wrestling related are totally opposite.

Russo: calm down bro it’s only wrestling

Cornette: wrestling is my entire life and I take it so seriously I would threaten to stab someone over a booking decision I don’t like

  7. I don’t think they did a particularly bad job on Gut Check, just seemed daft to waste that much TV time building people for a one off appearance.

Better building their wrestlers and bringing jobbers in to give their actual roster a couple wins and a better record. It is going back to basics but they might as well do that as much as possible while fans aren’t expecting regular programming

It’s not so much about what he’s doing, it’s that the rest of the singles main event scene is just WWE guys. Aside from Page and Omega, every PPV so far has been headlined by someone from WWE. And now they’re at the stage where they bring in WWE midcarders to do the “Vince bad” promo and go straight to the top spots.

Shouldn’t judge too much on the current shows because of the restrictions, but I don’t get the impression that Hardy and Harper would have been radically different if there were crowds in. And it’s not so much the content, moreso the sense that every WWE release means one less spot on the next (+90 days) PPV for an MJF, Jungle Boy, Lucha Bro etc.

TNA had Christian Cage turn down a contract with WWE and choose to sign with TNA. Did anyone else choose TNA over WWE? TNA was filled with WWE rejects, signing whoever they could and putting them over their younger homegrown talent. AEW have acts like The Revival who seem to be just waiting for their opportunity to leave WWE, which we have never had with TNA. TNA never had guys like Orton entertain the idea of switching, even as a transparent try for a pay rise.

Obviously the landscape is different now that WWE wants to sign every wrestler they can, but all the former WWE guys walked away from contracts to be in AEW. They haven’t automatically signed anyone from WWE they can. They’ve gone after the big names and the under utilised.

Harper doing the Voodoo Kin Mafia thing isn’t as bad, but is also very TNA.

I made the comparison to Voodoo Kin Mafia last week to point out how far removed AEW is from TNA.

This is more like an episode of Peep Show than anything AEW are doing. Except Peep Show is funny

    Am I remembering this correctly?

Wasn't there a whole kerfuffle about WWE using the Broken Matt stuff when he & Jeff resigned in 2017 because Anthem “owned it” when they bought into TNA/Impact?

Have AEW had to agree something similar? Or does nobody care anymore because it was the flavour of the month back then

He isn’t Broken anymore, now he is Damascus and in WWE he was Woken. Can’t imagine they’ll be able to own someone just talking like a dickhead as opposed to signature words.

AEW should have called him Token Matt Hardy.

  11. Britt was brilliant last night (is she not a heel if I acknowledge she plays a great heel?) Shout instruction to commentary, playing upto the camera and the mad look in her eyes were all great. Asking the ref for one of the gloves his gloves so she could stick her fingers in Shida’s mouth was clever touch.

Every time they say Murderhawk it makes me think of Step Brothers. Still though, the guy is a beast and Jakes promos continue to be the brilliant. They are such a solid pairing

Worst match I have ever seen Kenny Omega in. Didn’t like Jericho bringing up every embarrassing thing he has ever done. Saying he has had great matches with little girls and blow up dolls was not cool.

Cody and Spewrs had a great match, enjoyed the finish. Jericho did well at keeping the pace up and they had a good amount of video packages through out the episode

Awful video that boils down to “what do scientists know?  My innate feeling is right and they are wrong”.

What an awful take on the video. He isn’t arguing against scientists for a start, he is arguing against USA today who’s stance is “well it can’t be 100% proven so it isn’t true.” The Popular Science article was written by a journalist called Kat Eschner who also does movie reviews. Kat is not a scientist and concluded that stuff like Coronavirus would continue without mass factory farming because a lot of people have cats or dogs. Not really a valid point at all.

Actually it is most likely true, as explained in the video. It is zoonotic disease, that would be less likely to happen without intense factory farming. Use a bit of common sense perhaps.

@Merzbow maybe you should have clicked on it because it wasn’t “very white” at all and just actually deals with facts and statistics.

Pardon my ignorance, I know nothing about Blue Lives Matter.
Had a quick look and its about tougher sentences for people who kill police officers? Or have I misunderstood? Why is that bad?

If you see a video on Facebook of police killing a black kid, the ones commenting “well they shouldn’t have resisted if they didn’t want to get shot” are the Blue Lives Matter lot.

It is a movement for bootlicking racists.

  14. I really didn’t enjoy the Firefly Funhouse shit. The Last Man standing match that went on for an hour had properly killed my enjoyment by that point. Cena was just far too cheese for me to take it even remotely serious. I know being a big goon is his thing, I don’t like it though

Also, I’ve just remembered the Benoit spot where Randy was trying to hang Edge on the gym equipment. What the fuck was that about?
